His mate's name is Fiddy - his place is Fiddy's bar and guesthouse. Memory came back. Good guy, great breakfasts.

Just change this thread from Tiger to Jetstar and you get exactly the same friendly service.
Back to Singapore Air for me.

Scottie did come back to Patong for a while, because he had many a drink in my (his old) bar but later went to Perth. The one person who would definitely know his name is his old mate (Sorry, my memory doesn't work too well these days) who has a bar/guesthouse halfway up soi Sansabai on the right hand side. He is a scotsman and has scottish flags outside (and inside) his bar. I can't remeber his name but he will know Scottie's.
Good luck with the Detective work and please post your answer.

I can't remember his name, although he told me. He was from Edinburgh, but had lived in Perth for 20+ years. He first sold the bar to a Finnish guy who hated customers and went broke. Scottie ( Les ?) bought it back and then sold it again to a violent drunk, a timeshare salesman..
After he lost a fight, he was a king hit merchant, most people can;t get up after a king hit, but this bloke did. The place was closed when I bought, for not much money.

The bar in Sai Nam Yen was called Scottie's Bar. Now it is "The Bar". Does anyone know how it is going ?

Peter is a Doctor there. Originally from Tasmania. Doesn't mind a beer.

I also was taught to be cautious. I don't think that it is a secret ( the Masons are not a secret society, it is a society with secrets, discuss) that the Pub is the Green Man in Chalong.
So Mote It Be.

You need several to suggest that the poster is racist because changing a lightbulb in Thailand is different and you probably don't have the correct work permit anyway.

And I still don't know what happened to Mike ???

I'm asking because I had Scottie's Bar for six years 2000-2006 and sold it to Steve. Last I heard of the original Scottie (who played for Leicester City) he was in a nursing home in Perth,
Can someone get me Steve's current email ? And can someone tell me what's happening to Scottie's. 200 Sai Nam Yen.
-
I still don't know if this is the Steve-O (A Yank from Arizona) from Patong or not. Can someone ask him ? And what happened to Steve-O's (formerly Scottie's) in Patong ?
-
Is this Steve-O the same one who had Steve-O's (formerly Scotties' Bar in Patong ? And what happened to Fat Mike ?

Just make the usual one - about the poor Issaan girls being exploited by the terrible white sex tourists. Don't mention the Thai landlords who own the bars or the girls' Thai boyfriends sitting at home drinking whiskey and beating them around if they don't bring enough money home. Or the parents who might have two or three daughters working in Patong or Pattaya and now have a color TV and a telephone.

Having travelled Thai, Singapore and Malaysian to Thailand, my last trip was by Jetstar. Cramped, attendants come round selling things, hard to get a drink - $7AUD for a small Scotch, $4AUD for a coffee.
Not recommended at all.

I took my WP and Social Security card to Patong Hospital for a minor matter. They told me "not for Falang" ????

There was a post a while back saying Jetstar passengers are still heading to Phuket....that's probably because it's nearly impossible to get a refund or even a rescheduling from Jetsatr, the worst airline I've ever flown with. People here (Australia) don't realise that just because the airport or government house are ocupied you are perfectly safe in 99% of Thailand, including Bangkok or Phuket. Not many more will be booking for the next year or so. I'll be back in July.

Buying a bar in Patong and trying to convince people you're making money...."you should have been here last night, you couldn't move in here" in an empty bar.

I haven't seen the erudite Dr Pat_Pong on any topic for a while. Is he still around or does anyone know what happened to him ? He used be on virtually every topic. Maybe he just got tired of it.
Also Sunbelt - still around.
Thanks.

My doctor advised me to take up smoking again after I suffered severe depression after taking Champix. Be very careful with it.

As an Australian who spent six years living in Patong I can only agree with Sir Burr. I came up this year with Jetstar, and when I entered the passenger cabin I raised the IQ average by 14%. They are the bogans who keep me away from Bali these days.
Suggest flying Singapore and hoping Jetstar goes broke or only flies Cheap Charlies/ Bogans to Bali.

Invest with Anton and lose all your money. Stay away from anything with Hollywood in it's name as that is his usual scam.
-
It has happened in Sydney and Melbourne too. Now the area is filmed and recorded. I don't think it is just a Thai problem.
-
For a similar scam try Katoeyss' r' us in Patong. 150 baht for a girl's drink plus an automatic 50 baht tip. They must be running out of time.
