  1. As a professional writer, I can't hold it against someone who can't write properly, but who might be a very good mechanic,(get rid of this one) or some other trade. I'm sure no mechanic, and they could laugh at what I don't know.

There are a few suggestions I could make that might help others, though. On a computer screen, it is much easier to read if there are no more than two or three sentences in a paragraph. Although it's quite easy to read a book of text, for some reason it's hard to read a whole bunch of sentences strung together without any separation on a computer screen... even if it IS a proper paragraph.

One of the most common mistakes I see are the words "loose" and "lose". Although the two words have entirely different meanings, they are often used in place of each other and in the wrong context. It doesn't really matter, though, because we know what the writer means in any case.

And, I often throw in commas where they aren't really needed if it helps the reader.

Sorry, but I can't resist. LOL

As a professional writer, you should look a little closer at your use of commas. When sentences begin with a prepositional phrase (i.e. As a professional writer) or a subordinating conjuction, a comma is required. They are also needed in compund sentences but not needed for compound verbs or compliments.

I've taken the liberty of adding bolded commas in your post where they belong.

I doubt that you'll appreciate my critique of your post, but as I said in the beginning, I just couldn't resist.

A comma is NOT required in any of the situations, it is only advised. The use of the comma is very flexible and can be used at the writer's discretion, a professional writer would know that. There are no actual fixed rules.

Not beginning a sentence with 'And' is only a basic rule that they teach at school. It is all right, however, to start a sentence with And. And again, a professional writer would know that.

  2. After one and a half years, Carl - just post some evidence can you. We all want to know that the 'grumpiest farang in Thailand actually exists'

Post evidence some can you, then we know he isn't the grumpy imagination of a Bkk expat who has been here too long.

I look forward to seeing the evidence (one and a half years in the waiting)

  3. That's for the sites as a whole. Did you realize the Nation forums ARE the Thaivisa forums? They are one and the same. If you click to go to the forum on the Nation it takes you here.

Check Alexa for more? When I search for both sites I see thaivisa.com getting more hits than the Nation. It's much higher in world rankings and Thai rankings. So I am not sure how you are twisting these stats.

Dear Sir, kindly view Alexa rankings again. Thai is oknation vs thaivisa. Nation Forums have an Alexa double viewers of 2:1. Oknation and thaivisa re not twisted in any way

OKnation is a Thai language website. It is not the website of The Nation newspaper which is at www.nationmultimedia.com. You are not comparing The Nation to Thaivisa.

What a duff comment! Of course, www.oknation.net is part of The Nation, it is all part of Nationmultimedia. Go on to their main page and see.

  5. I forget which member took the photo but they posted it in this thread. It got viewed a few times then deleted by the Mod. I think I can track it down after it was posted on a Facebook group, but not sure if I'll get away with posting the link..

He's not an elusive character Thai Eye...myself and a few others have seen him frequently around Sukhumvit (Foodland soi 16, Exchange Tower, Emporium). Always in golf shorts and polo shirts. He's actually a Jerry Springer lookalike.

Reads like you had a couple too many beers down centre, Carl. Instead of this, "always in golf shorts and polo shirts. He's actually a Jerry Springer lookalike" and "myself and a few others have seen him frequently around Sukhumvit" can you post some evidence.

I personally, have been watching this thread for months and have had breakfast at the Oriental Cafe on many occasions. However, i have yet, to meet Mr Bad Guy, his secretary or any waitress who says they have had hassle with a certain morning customer.

He's a decent customer, gets decent service... what you so jealous about, Carl? If he were a ******* he would have been banned by security months, if not years ago..

Congratulations for the thread anyway, got a lot of publicity

  6. Just checked. Contrary to what moderator SBK says in Koh Phangan. Sorry, but Thaivisa is not even ranked in the top 1,000 Google Search for even the most basic Thai 'things'.

Thai food, Thai women, Thai beach, Thai massage etc... thaivisa only ranks Google for Thai visa information and that is it. She herself, SBK, needs to take a good look at the Internet instead of being derogatory of others.

  7. So, since Page One, the only person who has witnessed this stingy arrogant farang is the OP, Carl. After so many months, and so many thaivisa members turning up wanting to see for themselves this turbulent farang, they find for themselves that he isn't and was never ever there.

A figure of the imagination........... :)

Not so Thai Eye. Other members went to the cafe while I wasn't there and witnessed him. I think they sat opposite to view from afar because after he realised I was beginning to nick his place he made a special effort to get there "waiting" at the top of the lifts until security let him in dead on 10am. In fact another member took a photo of him.

If you so wish you can go into Oriental Cafe any morning and sit right next to the coffee machine in the window. Make sure you're early. As a proxy CEO he doesn't show every morning as his golf often takes priority, so if that is the case any pleasant member of staff will give you the full lowdown on his antics. You'll know if you've beaten him to his place - his quiche will be perfectly warmed and his latte and Bangkok Post perfectly placed in his spot. All can be moved along a space or two of course. His secretary (doubling as his wife) calls up to confirm his attendance and to ensure his demands are met. Expect no pleasantries.

Great wake up call, but kindly put some links on here for our perusal! And also that photo of 'him', we would look to see that too! Post any photos at all Carl... If this isnt a wind up please for goodness post some evidence!!

Good story Carl. Will look forward to your next - by the way Bangkok Books are alway looking for novelists.,

A fantastic OP - figure of the imagination........... :)

  9. I feel disappointed too that the moderators decided to 'close' the highly popular Big Brother in Thailand thread because of one poster, Whistleblower. Strange that the mods... close such a thread when the troublemaker was a newbie!

This was alongside his side-kick 'persona wannabe' Pattayaman71 (another brand new newbie) .

Potss could simply have been deleted or, and warnings put out - but no, after almost a 100,000 hits they simply shut the conversation down!

  10. Did you not read the announcement made what was it, a year ago? I am quite sure things were laid out very clearly at the time.

As jingthing says, they are direct links to the ThaiVisa forums. Not Nation webboard copy pastes.

And just curious if any of you have ever done a google search for anything remotely Thailand related? ThaiVisa forums almost always comes up within the first four hits. How is this different? In fact, its probably even more intrusive since far more people use google to search for Thailand information than read The Nation online.

Umm, i'm not too sure about that. SBK in Koh Phangan says: "ThaiVisa forums almost always comes up (on Google Search) within the first four hits" (about Thailand)

Let' first take 'Thai Food' - i dont see Nation/Thaivisa/forum getting at all in Google top 50!

    http://www.google.co.th/search?hl=th&s...mp;aq=f&oq=

Now, lets' look at 'Thai Music'

    http://www.google.co.th/search?hl=th&q...mp;aq=f&oq=

Again thaivisa isn't not even in the top 50

Now lets look at 'Thai Women', again thaivisa doesn't get a mention in top 50.

    http://www.google.co.th/search?hl=th&s...mp;aq=f&oq=

Sbk: get a life; besides Thai visa enquiries, thaivisa/forum doesnt do anything on Google search engines.

Google the most basic aspects of Thai life such as Thai food, Thai music, Thai life, Thai women, Thai traditions, Thai culture, Thai dance. Thai Visa is nowhere to be seen in the top 50 Google Search.

Your big brother competitors over at www.Paknamweb.com on the other hand, are sucking it in.

  11. According to an email forward, Pattayaman71 and Whistleblower are actually the same person mailing from different IPs, the source is Pattaya Ghost.

"The Pattaya Ghost has it in for Gavin Hill and especially the Tourist Police Volunteers after a run in concerning non-payment of a 1,000+ baht bill at a Pattaya go-go last March".

ThaiEye - I've had good dealings with the ghostly one and I don't think he'd be that cheap - pursuing a vendetta over a measly 1,000 Baht??!! I think you've got the wrong man ... sorry, spirit.

Are you sure? Go, check the Ghost's RSS Feed and his friend in propaganda arms, Talen. That 1,000 baht wasn't actually Ghosts'. it was a friend of his down on Soi 6, that he is tossed off with.

  13. Whistleblower - thank you for you personal messages but i am no way related to the Tourist Pattaya cops in Thailand and that includes Howard. I never su** ar** to anyone. And i never been bought beer for any f***** tourist police volunteers.

As for "When you found h**ging from your Pattaya Balcony, is Howard gonna look after it?"

Thank you Whistleblower - go take a chill pill, man

  14. Yes, Howard also tried the racist element with complaints to other board mods too..

    How do you know that?

Do you have lots of friends who are moderators here? Are you one of the previous banned ones who has just come to life again?

I also found your video quite racist.

  15. howards gone awol. cant take the heat mate?? please dont tell me youve rushed home to put on the uniform before you post???

Do you do that Sly Stallone judge dread thing before you go out? you know look in the mirror and roar "I am the law"

You have some serious problems with you fixation on Howard. Maybe, you need to sit back for a while and take a holiday.

Give us all a break! :D

Not a fixation on Howard. As I said before, he is the team leader so the questions are directed at him. His team have been thrust into the public eye due to the tv show. They have been portrayed as a group that tourists should feel safe with, and go to if in need of assistance. If there are questions about their integrity and even videos on you tube (one of my posts) Then shouldnt the team leader answer these questions in order to reassure the tourists.

For example my questions about the other guy, who seems to keep getting involved when he is in civilian clothing. (ladyboys and my posted vid)

Have the thai police given them a mandate to operate in civvies? is pepper spray now an approved accessory for them? Why did pc harrison tell that guy when he was in civvies he was 'tourist police'

Any public organisation that helps the general public has to have credibility to be operate or the public will lose trust in them. Mr Millers selective responses lend weight to the fact that they arent a well oiled machine and cant be taken seriously.

    :)

Whistleblower needs either to take a few chill pills or/and a long holiday of some kind. Just repeating himself over and over and over...
