  1. People did use get deported and come into Thailand TG....... now things are a lot tighter , with computers etc --they are picking up people who have been on the run for many years. The finger print Photo etc, But he could have been deported and come back. I know of people who did . It was just a matter of (say the UK) going back and changing your surname--you just have to put it in the public notices of a Newspaper, and the only people who are interested in reading that are usually Bailiffs etc --making sure you are not trying to get out of payments somewhere. Renew the passport and Phuket was always the best entry point then. Now I dont think thats an option--- maybe there are other options----dont know.
  2. When I am writing that you are correct on some (I should have put most) of what you say Lou. I am relating to my experience over 25 years ago--and then only as a visitor-- maybe your stay was more recent.
  3. If you are going to BKK there are usually a lot of places around the Embassy area who would do same day translation.
  4. So you have been there? What was the charge and how long were you in prison? If I may ask. He is correct on some of what he is saying TG-- I done 3 years prison visiting when I lived in Pattaya late 90s-2000s... Not the women's section I have never been there. There are a lot of inaccuracies in the report--Lard yao prison is not the BKK Hilton, it is not far from Chatuchak market the Hilton is Bang Kwang Prison on other side of the river. $$$ Can buy you an easier life in it-- One of the people I visited had a 4 man cell in which he picked the other 3. food could be sent in, Things might have changed since my visiting days. Then Phone calls were made by using the Prison warders mobile phone if you paid him, his rate by the minute. The visiting area was bedlam, you had glass at the top and about 2 foot of wire mesh down below which you had to shout through, then look up at the person You would all sit in a line on the benches--and many times I had seen a Nigerian prisoner push his arm against the wire mesh and receive an injection from his visitor. They use to have a large Blackboard hanging up where they would write the number of Nationalities of the non Thai prisoners...Lao always had the highest number , followed by Nigerians. It's tough but not the worse conditions--that would be if you over stay your Visa--Suan Plu Immigration Prison......terrible conditions _ I believe they have change a little since my days visiting, but then it was basically 1 large cage , and everyone got thrown in it women & children with the men--sometimes nearly empty --then they would do round up of all the overstay places and it was packed, you had no place to sit or lay . I believe I read that after a string of sexual assaults the women and children are now separated. Yer there are some heart bark stories in there--- Not talking about the current Lady.
  5. It's not the only option --if you live in a Mid size rural town like say Udon Thani--Pop 500,000---outer area about 1.5 Mil- IMO you have best of both, it would take me under 10 min to leave the town and be in the country side--in the town about about 30 Farang type bars, many western restaurants. Shopping center's Robinson's-Villa's Mackro's-Tesco's etc 35 minute drive you are into Nong Khai sitting on the Mekong and the Lao capital Vientiane just across the bridge from it. Bar's restaurants (and lots of Lao Girls there) There used to be an old joke when I first came here-"if you come across a girl and she doesn't have a mobile phone or any gold, then you have crossed the boarder into Laos by mistake" They (Lao's) have the high speed train --go across their county to some lovely spots Luang Prabang etc no time-or into China If you head the other way then Khon Kean-- If I was young that would certainly be on my list---I think more universities per population then any where else--more Uni's = more young girls, as they seem to make up about 70% of the students. . Been in Thailand about 26 years, first 6-7 years around BKK & Pattaya would never knock both places, had a great time, but after a while met someone (working in a French restaurant of all places) broken marriage like me-- but had a small child living with her mother--after living together for a few years decided we would take the child back, but I didn't want to bring a young girl up in Pattaya so looked around. Could I live completely Rural like the article --no--brought up in London, but this option is nice, and there are many other mid size towns just like it throughout Thailand . .
  6. The Gathering------ Ch4 6 episodes all out.... Just come out so I have not viewed it--put it up as its the same team that wrote "Line of Duty"......... Strong Scouse accent --some may need subs. Luckily in the UK they have to put them out immediately for the mut & Jeff guys. https://www.opensubtitles.com/an/all/search-movie/q-osdb:1544263/hearing_impaired-hearing_impaired-1/machine_translated-machine_translated-1/trusted_sources-trusted_sources-1
