Trying to attach the sound file directly. Not sure if MP3 files are allowed on this forum.

Just rented a bungalow in Thap Lan national park.
When we got back from our trek tonight, we heard a very loud sound.
At first we though it was a fire alarm of some sort.
On closer inspection it seemed to come from a tall tree nearby.
I can't stress enough how it was much louder than anything we'd heard coming from insects before.
Here's a recording I made.

Would anyone be able to give us any indication as to what it might be?

It's not that we don't like fighting through a horde of 20 year olds in tank tops to get a drink but ... ok it kind of is.
Any place that has more of a 30 year old vibe, decent music and (and I know that's asking a lot), a dance floor?
Location not a problem as we have a car. (please don't say "Bangkok"

There are no shops running pick-up as you describe from Bangkok. It's too far.
Generally speaking, Mermaids is the biggest with shops in both BKK and Patts, and they have a good reputation.
Thanks Joe. That would explain why I couldn't find anything on the web.
Sad, I would have liked to mix in a day of diving in my BKK work trips.

Hi guys,
Anyone can recommend a shop doing daily day trips out of Bangkok, preferably with a hotel pickup?
I suppose destination would be Pattaya in most cases but I'm open to anywhere as long as I'm diving.
The only I could find by a quick search shows transfer to Pattaya at 1700BHT one way - quite the ripoff given that this is more expensive than a regular taxi, while the shop would be moving all customers in a single minivan.
Honestly I don't want the trouble of having to checkout from my BKK hotel, hauling everything to Pattaya, and then doing the same in reverse, for just 1 day of diving.

Thanks Pavan but I'm looking for a Bangkok based team. Your website only mentions India.

Hi All,
I've been viewing กบนอกกะลา on youtube to improve my thai listening skills and understanding of thai culture.
But the low quality on most videos makes it a bit painful.
Has anyone notice if any big chain DVD shops carry those documentaries as dvd boxsets? I would like to pick one up next trip.
Thanks

What bug makes this very loud sound?
in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
It did sound similar to cicada, but the ones we have in Europe are nowhere near that noise level.
