its 10pm now and feeling better than the first 2 hours after the jab. Back then I felt a bit out of it. Its hard to describe the feeling but a bit groggy and tired. I had a quick lie down but couldnt sleep.

At 10pm now just have slight weird feeling in my chest. No headache. No pain in the arm.

Will sleep now and update again tomorrow morning if I make it through the night.

This vac is much better than sinovac and thus worth taking the risk IMHO. If I dont take the risk with this az jab, eg not have it.... the risk of fatality is much higher with my heart issues if I get covid. Therefore it makes sense to me to take the risk to get this jab today

    What city was this in?

Hear is the link again. Notice the headline. WHO will certify Sinovac.

It clearly says "Agency has asked Sinovac for details on CoronaVac’s safety and the manufacturing process before deciding whether to recommend it for global use"

I want to thank everyone for their responses.  I appreciate learning the Thai news and rumors that I did not hear in the U.S.  That particular batch of Sinovac that may have caused blood clots and paralysis and possibly 9 deaths is very concerning.

BadBuoy is also right that it is my GF's decision, but I want her to not be misinformed.  The power of social media, rumor, and propaganda dominates much of the vaccine discussion here in the U.S. as well as Thailand.

She registered yesterday for Sinopharm I'm pleased to say.  Especially since the private hospitals are now curtailing registrations, it was announced that AstraZeneca will not be available in June, and we have just heard of a Vietnamese (and possibly Malaysian variant).

Can I ask how she was able to register for Sinopharm? The website that was open for registration now appears to be closed, at least temporarily.

I did see on a local restaurants facebook page (Tropical) that staff went on first day and it was chaos with them being told to come back following morning - next day everything went smoothly and all staff were vacinated.

Do you know if they were giving the Sinovac only or was AstraZeneca in the mix?

  5. The CDC requires COVID-19 viral test result no more than 3 days before travel. Can I do this in Chiang Mai? Or is Bangkok a better option? I'll be flying out of Bangkok but figured it might be easier to do it here first. Also hoping to get details on how the test results are delivered and how it takes to get the results. Thanks.

I have little doubt that if you're willing to pay for it (months ago I saw preliminary estimates saying the vaccine will cost ~3500bt at local hospitals,  though who knows how that will match up to reality, especially when it first becomes available) you'll be able to get the jabs by the summer.  The big hospitals have to see this as a 'cash cow' with tens (maybe hundreds)-of-thousands of people willing and able to pay to avoid the government tiered roll-out, and they likely already have their orders in.

I'm assuming the same, but not sure whether that'll be "summer" as in June, or September. Hoping for sooner.

  7. Considering a flight back to the US for a vaccine, mainly due to the slow and unpredictable rollout here. But not sure how safe it is to fly international--anyone who's been flying to the U.S., would appreciate some input on covid safety on these longer flights.

  8. The setup I currently have is getting misaligned every few weeks and starts making loud grinding noises. Hoping there's a different option available. Current setup is a motor at ground level with gear that fits in to a long strip along the bottom of the gate. Would appreciate some referrals!

  9. The worker is Cambodian, not Burmese, and holds a regular Cambodian passport.

Does not sound to me like there is any real reason to need a broker or agency

From other threads I gather cost of the quota + L-A visa will be about 4,000 baht. I already know the hospital cost.

Re the "quota": if likely to want to bring ion a second worker later should I just get a quota for 2 to start with? Or is the "quota" specific to a specific worker? How long is "quota" valid for?

using an agent is highly advisable Sheryl. it saves you time and hassle and the bottom line is that it might cost less than if you try to do it yourself. getting a quota for more than one is quite difficult but possible. i don't know the exact procedure and i don't care but just pay (what i think) are reasonable fees for three Burmese employees. but to the best of my knowledge the quota has no time limit and when we started nearly ten years ago the quota system did not exist.

    note: mileages may vary! wink.png

I've heard that these types of visas are limited to unskilled labor, i.e. factory, landscaping, housekeeping. Is it possible to hire outside of those industries, like for office work for example? Are these workers entitled to the same wages as Thai's meaning minimum wage, OT etc?
