  1. There's a stall in the Night Bazaar near the beginning of the strip on the left hand side, run by a Thai guy named Boyd and his wife. They have a good selection of Twins and some other brands, wraps, etc. Prices are decent. Let me know if you need more specific directions.

  2. Not a smoker but I usually don't sleep very long so prefer to break it up so the longest legs aren't too long. I see some of the advertised flights can vary dramatically depending on routes. Still thinking EVA from Taipei to LAX is the top option and may go super economy. Wish Korean air offered super economy because I like the Seoul to Lax option but doesn't look like they do. Will check out Narita to Seattle also. Thanks.

  3. I believe LAX is the closest west coast destination but I'd opt for San Francisco or Seattle if they were closer. Looking at cm-bkk-taipei-lax on Eva Air, and it looks like the Taipei-LAX leg is about 10 hours. Anything shorter? Hoping to limit the long haul airtime as much as possible.

  4. This was about 10 inches long. Not very aggressive but jumped around a lot when I tried to move it. Doesn't seem to have the markings of the keel backs we frequently get.

  5. There is a sports club in Chiang Mai called Bronco Kids. They have a rhythmic gymnastics program there, and I'm pretty sure they have private training. It's run by Kru Oor, you can find them on google and just go by to discuss, they might have want you want or could steer you in the right direction.

  6. The worker is Cambodian, not Burmese, and holds a regular Cambodian passport.

Does not sound to me like there is any real reason to need a broker or agency

From other threads I gather cost of the quota + L-A visa will be about 4,000 baht. I already know the hospital cost.

Re the "quota": if likely to want to bring ion a second worker later should I just get a quota for 2 to start with? Or is the "quota" specific to a specific worker? How long is "quota" valid for?

using an agent is highly advisable Sheryl. it saves you time and hassle and the bottom line is that it might cost less than if you try to do it yourself. getting a quota for more than one is quite difficult but possible. i don't know the exact procedure and i don't care but just pay (what i think) are reasonable fees for three Burmese employees. but to the best of my knowledge the quota has no time limit and when we started nearly ten years ago the quota system did not exist.

    note: mileages may vary! wink.png

I've heard that these types of visas are limited to unskilled labor, i.e. factory, landscaping, housekeeping. Is it possible to hire outside of those industries, like for office work for example? Are these workers entitled to the same wages as Thai's meaning minimum wage, OT etc?

  7. I believe in the UK you'll need a letter authorizing consent to travel alone (i.e. the parents write and sign this and the kid travels with it). When my kid flew Bkk/Uk, we told them at the airport (no advance notice given) but they were very accommodating: someone came and escorted her through immigration and then to the gate, and same on arrival. I would recommend the non stop as someone else above mentioned.

  8. If it were not for The Dukes and Ragu, Promenda might have no customers at all. I only go there for Ragu.

Also Fuji and Tsukemen 55 is an interesting ramen shop. (Involves a little pot that you heat at your table). The Southern Thai food in front of Rim Ping is also good.

Tsukemen 55 is great, the best I've had in CM at least.
