The teacher should be charged with assault and the parents should take civil proceedings against her. She should be sacked and stripped of her teaching license (if there is such a thing). Teachers, like the BIB here have been a protected species for far too long.

Thailand’s tuk-tuks go green amid rising demand for electric models
lujanit replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
With going electric will they install meters? I wonder why the DLT doesn't make these abominations have meters. If you are tall like me it is the most uncomfortable way to travel on public transport. -
Over 900,000 Foreign Tourists Came To Thailand During Jan. 1-15: TAT
lujanit replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
TAT have a history of calling all arrivals 'tourists'. Patently wrong. Like Dr. Yong TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn is a media whore. -
Why not add it to the exit fee (700 baht) already charged? That way there will be no discrimination against anyone. This is another way for the IO to collect tea money from tourists with unreal exchange rates. From memory you cannot get baht from an ATM before Immigration or after security on the arrival/departure side. Please correct me if this has changed.

Chart Pattana Kla Party Proposes Credit Sorting to Address Debt
lujanit replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Rubbish. Thais have always been up to their eyeballs in debt. Nothing to do with covid. Easy loans for government employees, including the BIB are part of the reason. Plus Thais have no problem going to loan sharks when all other avenues are closed to them. -

Where did I say that? No, the places are not paying for a Michelin star or Bib Gourmand, it is judged by numerous anonymous Inspectors on multiple occasions. Michelin makes money by selling their guide, although the Guide runs at a loss. Their inspectors are paid employees of Michelin which has to recoup the expense somehow. https://vulcanpost.com/813691/michelin-guide-star-bib-meaning-how-inspectors-chosen/#:~:text=Michelin Stars are given to fine dining restaurants,4 Value for money 5 Consistency between visits Read the section how Michelin makes money. All you questions will be answered there. https://trungphan.substack.com/p/the-michelin-guide-business-explained#:~:text=While the Guide loses money%2C the parent company, travel. Here is how Michelin describes the segment%3A

Where did I say that? Of course it is. The Bib Gourmand is featured in Michelin red guides all around the world. As of 2020, there are currently 3,362 restaurants that can boast a Bib Gourmand award. (https://www.finedininglovers.com/article/what-is-michelin-bib-gourmand) The price limit for Bib Gourmand consideration varies from country to country, depending on the cost of living. (https://guide.michelin.com/us/en/article/features/the-bib-gourmand). The Bib Gourmand distinction, symbolised by the famed ‘Bibendum’ or ‘Michelin Man’ licking his lips, recognizes both restaurants and street food eateries for offering high-quality food at budget-friendly prices of no more than THB 1,000 (for a three-course meal: starter, main course, and dessert – exclusive of beverage). https://www.bing.com/search?q=Bib+Gourmand+price+limit+for+Thailand&qs=n&form=QBRE&sp=-1&pq=bib+gourmand+price+limit+for+thailand&sc=10-37&sk=&cvid=BF487BE5E8DF467FB6A41193ACA2CB44&ghsh=0&ghacc=0&ghpl= I will bet the 1000 baht limit is not enforced for three courses. Many of these places don't have dessert. My original post still stands. Michelin are on a profit gathering mission; this is a business for them and success lies with 'awarding' certain eateries and expanding their list. With so many 'guides' available in so many countries it is easy to draw this conclusion. Places that receive this 'award' is just an excuse to raise prices. Here in BKK is a Thai place with one Michelin star that charges over 350 baht++ for a plate of plain fried rice. I can't obviously name the place because of the insane defamation laws here. IMHO the majority of Thai food at these low end eateries are based on too much sugar and Nam Pla in it. Plus there is a pot of sugar and a bottle of Nam Pla on the table. It is not hard to see why Thais (and Asians) have a high incidence of diabetes.

Why is the Dept of Disease Control involved in road fatality? My mind boggles. It will fail and the BIB will see this as another opportunity to gather 'tea money'.

Taxis to Undergo Inspection Before Collecting New Fares
lujanit replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Well that makes my figures found on the net cr@p. I guess the DLT will have a better idea of how many taxis there are. From my previous post on the subject: In the time allocated approximately 65,000 taxis can be accommodated. I found two figures for taxi numbers in BKK (100,000 in 2012, Wikipedia and 150,000 in 2019; https://www.covankessel.com/blog/how-to-take-a-taxi-in-bangkok#:~:text=There are more than 150.000 taxi’s in Bangkok, newer Toyota cars and are spacious and airconditioned.). -
From the original article: Prasaeng Mongkolsiri, president of Krungthep Thanakom, said that, with the new evidence submitted, the court should be able to rule on the case fairly. You are just trying to wriggle your way out of paying what you owe with a stupid reason. 10.6 billion baht will buy a lot of layer time. Last September, the Administrative Court ruled in favour of BTS, ordering Krungthep Thanakom to pay BTS the outstanding debt, but Krungthep Thanakom appealed the ruling to the Supreme Administrative Court. Any more info on the appeal?

Officials raid Kong Salak Plus online lottery offices on Monday
lujanit replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
I don't mind the people at the local market selling for 100 baht, after all they buy at near to 80 baht. That a big company that got their allocation much cheaper overcharges is theft and greed. I hope they get the book thrown at them and are forced out of business. -
Yeah I can see that happening at all the second hand dealers in Thailand. False advertising is SOP here.

This is becoming a joke. The Michelin Guide is in many countries now. Just to profit off their publication. If the places included here were compared to the real Michelin list they wouldn't stand a chance. I have been here many years and eaten at all sorts of Thai places here all over Thailand and my conclusion is most of the places use waaaaay too much sugar and Nam Pla.

Bangkok cabbies must get meters officially adjusted to new fares
lujanit replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News

If the 2019 figure is anywhere near the mark it would mean 80,000 taxis wouldn't be able to have their meters adjusted. Unless my figures are cr@p. -
Senators To Pick Candidate For PM In Line With Most MPs: Wanchai
lujanit replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Let the senator's vote buying begin. If that fails to produce the desired outcome a coup will take place. It's not like Thailand is not used to military coups. How many military coups has Thailand had? Placing it at the top of the list of countries that have had military coups, Thailand has had 22 coups in the last 100 years. In two years during the last 100 years, there were two of them. (https://tastythailand.com/how-many-military-coups-has-thailand-had-is-it-the-1-country-for-coups-detat/)
