You mean to say you drove over 1600Km in one hit. Christ you must be related to Superman. The most I drove in on day was  just over 600Km and that was enough for me. And that was 20 years ago.

At my age now the most I can comfortably drive is about 450 and thats with a couple of 1 hour stops,

Not one hit. I drove there one day and back 3 days later. It's not difficult, just have to concentrate and watch everyone else and be prepared.

    At 64, I wouldn't hire me to drive a bus/cargo ship/aircraft.

Concentration, reaction speed, ability to stay awake all shot to hell.

Speak for yourself. I am 74 and just as quick and alert as I was years ago. Just returned from drive from Chiang Mai to Pattaya, non stop and back, one stop for fuel. Will drive to Khon Kean next week.

Google is wrong, believe it or not.

Domestic flights have started since quite a while.

AirAsia flies CNX to UTP (U-Tapao) twice a day.

Thaismile flies CNX to BKK (Suv.) twice a day at hefty prices (from 1700 oneway).

(prices in general have almost doubled)

From U-Tapao it should be possible to catch a minivan.

Otherwise prepare to use a taxi.

Unsure about the coaches from Suv.

    Bell Bus does not run.

    To Jomtien? Website still says:

Quarantine at Pattaya would have made big news.

Can't tell about returning to Chiang Mai.

There are currently no flights to UTP. Can see them on Airasia site, but try booking !!!

  4. Some friends an I have raised some money to help people. We wish to buy food and give it to the needy.

Can anyone suggest the simplest way to do that ? In Chiang Mai.

Very sad to hear. Perhaps they were citizens being brought back from other countries, as the commercial flights are suspended i suppose.

Edit : It was a Lahore to Karachi domestic flight.

I think there will be more. All the planes sitting on the ground, not good for the plane. They need continual flying and servicing. Cobwebs !!!

I had just repaired a record player given to me by manager of Currys. They had marked it 'beyond economical repair'. There was a loose wire !!!  I needed a record to test it. Bought the 45 from an ex jukebox stock !!

Only at a embassy or consulate.

Or if you qualify for some extensions of stay you can apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa entry at a immigration office.

Thank you Ubonjoe. I have another question. Everything I read about border runs/tourist visas(2 allowed) refers to land borders. What effect does a airport departure, arrival, have on this ?

  8. A friend of mine has about 30 big bags of unwanted clothes , shoes etc. Wants to donate them to a good cause.

Any sensible suggestions would be welcome, thanks.

    1. You would be applying for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement not a visa.

It would be best if you could obtain a single entry non-o visa before entering the country. If not possible then a single entry tourist visa that could be changed  to a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at immigration.

    2. She could get a one year extension based upon your extension as your spouse. She would need a non-o visa entry to apply for it which cannot be applied for at immigration. If she had a non-b visa entry it could also be used.

    3. That would depend upon the work permit office where she applied for the renewal of her work permit.

    4. It depends upon the the time your arrive at immigration and the number of people there. Reports of doing it in a couple of hours to all day.

    5. Yes

    6. For the first extension the 800k baht only has to be in the bank for 60 days. You will need a letter from your bank confirming your account and copies of your bank book that has been updated on the date you apply.

We are same age and country. Why don't you use the same agent. No hastle, no worries, don't even need to think about 800k. Just sit at home and it comes in post.
