The last shipment I received was earlier this year, and it came with a scrap of paper indicating where I had to make the payment. There was no QR code or a QR code on the Post Office tracking site. When did this "good news" begin? It's an option I would like to use in future.
you are probably on the wrong page try this link

I'm in Pattaya, and if I need to pick up imported packages to pay duty, they are held at the Mail Center, near the floating market, past Jomtien, about 8km south of Walking Street. That is the ONLY place I can pick up my overseas mail. It is NOT a local post office. My local post offices are in Jomtien Soi 5 and in Pattaya on Soi Post Office.
I'm surprised you're ignorant about Mail Centers. The main one in Bangkok is in Laksi. You'll see this listed in parcel tracking. They are the major distribution points.
The good news is you dont have to go to the post office anymore to pay the tax. You can pay online via qr code then they will deliver to your address

It's a good thing especially for local businesses competing against China on shoppe or lazada. If its sold locally the business will be paying the 7% where the Chinese import wont.

Mexico is open until November

Lazada already includes all duties and taxes in the price of the product. But you might have noticed that some items increased in price slightly. About 5-10% in the past few weeks.
Not really
lazada {from Thailand sellers} only collects vat on their commission. The seller is required to charge and pay vat. In reality if a thai seller has been doing business correctly it wont affect them.
When its shipped from China or another country then the vat/tax burden will be on the impoter whether a forum member or Bigc

So for a 1000 baht value, you need to do an online transfer of 70 baht before you get your package. And what methods of payment are acceptable?
you scan the qr code so about any bank app works

Has anyone had to go to the Thai post office to pay the 7% VAT that was to be effective 1 May or was the 7% collected upon delivery to the home?
You can pay online and they'll deliver the next day

So i dont get it.
If you order on lazada do you pay tax now?
This would make zero sense and it would be a logistics nightmare.
If you order from a thai shop on lazada the seller is paying 7% vat
If you order from lazada the Chinese shop and or customer is not normally paying 7%

this recently changed and may be dependent on the amount deposited and my experience at bkk bank in my personal account.
Card less deposit in bkk bank atm now requires me to enter account number , thai id and phone number. They then send a otp to enter.
fwiw you have to do this every time

Going to get expensive, however I suspect the elephants will be the biggest losers here.
The country's national animal indeed.
According to the news all elephants were/are rented except for one.
2500 baht for adults 1000 for kids to see them

Far LESS than perfect, and I'll explain why...
Do NOT trust seller ratings. Many have been falsely raised. Here's how...
Companies have been formed with the single purpose of raising the seller's feedback score, with fake purchases.
Unfortunately, one of these companies has used my name and address, and I now have a large shopping bag full of dozens of small shipping envelopes from Lazada and Shopee, with junk I didn't order.
The company hires people to make hundreds of small orders for items costing less than 5-10 baht; hair bands, plant ties, cheap barrettes, pins, etc. One order might contain just two plant twist-ties or two stickers... anything that costs less than a couple of baht. The employee might make 50, 100, or 200 orders at day to the same vendor using other people's addresses as recipients. The company pays for these orders, and the product goes to someone else (like me.) Then the employee fills out the feedback forms. 50, 100, 200 feedback forms for the same vendor, giving him high marks.
Anyone want a big bag full of cheap junk? Didn't cost me anything, but nothing I can use.
Not really sure how this is possible. The ratings are for the product not the seller although the seller gets rated..
The op os shopping for lowest price i would recommend messaging the sellers and ask if its in stock if not move on

Wanted to share this and curious if anyone had the same experience?
Foolishly i lost my id and needed a replacement. I went to the office that originally issued my id with my Thai passport and a copy of my id.
Went to the counter signed a few forms and waited the queue for my photo and digital fingerprints.
My turn for the photo and prints the lady said they didn't match. I asked to try again and same issue not matching.
She then had her supervisor come over and he said my wife needs to sign a paper as a guarantor.
Was thinking if my wife wasn't available then what?
My wife came signed the guarantor paper and all the problems went away .

Thailand is packed with tourists now and a retirement visa couldn't be simpler to get .
