  1. Oil filter price and p/n if you know it.

I believe the 500 is the same filter as the cbr1000/600rr .... Please let me know as i want to do a oil change today...

Obviously it won't help you today, but K&N filters are 480 baht shipped from 'ybfilters' out of the UK off eBay- they arrive in less than a week with no import charges- I've already got four of 'em.

    You'd want the 204.

Thats a good price delivered. Will order some for future use. fyi 450 for a cbr500 filter at big ripoff pattaya

  2. as previously said, a flash of a driving licence or work permit will generally get you in at thai prices, it is suppose to be because as a thai resident or work permit holder you are paying taxes here, or so they say. in actual fact i think its a great idea that as a countryman your natural beauty spots are free or cheaper, after all thailand belongs to the thai people. im from the uk and i only wish our country would do the same for us, you get better looked after as a foriener there.

Won't get you anywhere in the Similan or Koh Surin NP, that is for sure!

Flashing the license never worked for me either :(

  3. Thailand is a poorer country than most farang countries- makes 100% sense that they would try to charge extra for tourists. Getting boycotted by a handful of stingy/miserly farang tourists is going to have zero impact.

That's why countries like Spain and greece are seeing 27% unemployment figures and the UK almost hits a double dip rescession, add to that the ever increasing strength of the Baht.

Imagine a Spanish family working their socks off all year to keep their jobs and their yearly holiday is tarnished by paying 5 times as much to see the same things. These threads come up again and again and I would usually agree with you, however Thailand is doing very well at the minute with increasing investment and the purchase of bonds etc.

The Spanish family pay 2400 baht for a night safari and then the Thai family pay 425 baht and then jump into their brand new merc and drive home.

I have a hard time imagining the greeks and spaniards working at all.

  4. i'm also interested in meeting up in Pattaya, for a "ride out" or whatever they are called.....and i'm sure it won't matter what bike (or scooter) you have.....

A scooter will surely make it to the first light then will be riding solo smile.png

you trying o disrupt things too ??

no just keeping some one from joining a group of litre bikes with a pcx or schwinn banana bike. The op is talking about a 500cc which will almost be adaquite.
  5. I thought special numbers were faster. My understanding is the dealers are allocated xxx amount of each number singles, doubles and triples. Triples be the hardest and most expensive. This year may be difficult because they now have 4 digit plates. This means 9999 as opposed to every 999 thats a big difference.

My bike was delivered before xmas and my plate came early february...

  6. I was just wathing this video

and the gey posted comment he got one for 6000 USD, is that for real???

How can it be cheaper in USA than in Thailand?

People that quote American prices or prices for other countries, hardly ever mention the price after tax, title, dealer rape, etc...

If he paid 6000 USD, it was probably closer to 7000 USD out the door, and thats before having to buy mandatory liability insurance at another $250-400 per year

Every state is different . My state florida doesnt have mandatory liabilty for bike. Thats going back 3-4 years but i dont think its changed. Tax is/was only 6% so thats $120.00.

You can bet your last baht that if you shop in the states you will always pay less for a big bike or car.

  7. Let me update really quick. I actually ordered a set from the states already but shipping is delayed until after memorial day. This would then arrive here around the 18th of june....

One of the cylinders had/has a miss and it appeared to be the direct ignition coil. I ordered a used set even though i only needed one. The price for the set was 19.99 so a real bargain....They arrived yesterday and i removed all the plugs for inspection. They looked ok but were not hte correct plug for the bike. They are imr8c 9h as opposed to imr9c 9he. I think the only difference is heat range. Well when i went to reassemble everything the bike wouldnt start........Put the old coils back and the same problem not firing....I took the plugs out and grounded the case on the motor and still no fire. Not one of the four plugs was firing. This is CRAZY right??So i checked the wiring from the ecu and checked and checked and checked,,,,Everything is as it should be....Ok somehow i noticed that if i went to check the plug without grounding it to the motor it would arc......This tell me the ecu and coils are firing the way they should be....I went and got a random plug and tried it and it worked............

Ok i will leave it at that until the plugs arrive tonight...

  8. They certainly can hide that ad..Its possible they didnt understand i spoke with a lady first then a man whos english was good....Anyway i did locate them from racing spec after checking dirt shop, ap shop, kittisak, honda big wing (same plug as a 2007 cbr1000), red baron a few local shops etcetc!!!

FYI they cost 3000 baht and 100 for van delivery from mochit to pattaya....

  9. The 3rd plug looks suspect but i can not be certain that this is a issue...I cleaned them and re installed them. I also ordered a new set from the states..

Wouldn't it be easier to buy new plugs from a local bike shop?

The short answer is NO. I dont seem to have any luck finding parts for a non thai made bike here. I could put in substitutes but that seems to be a waste of money. Previously bolts, clamps etc were replaced with non oem. I have ordered all oem to replace these.

Panda Rider stocks NGK plugs from Japan if you decide to swap them out.

Spoke with panda rider today and they do not sell spark plugs

  10. Back to the shim question. Just had the 1000 km service. Cost over 2000 baht, including 800 baht for shims. As the shims themselves cost FA, them this is labour cost of 800 baht for about one or two hours work at most. A bit steep. And they replaced 5 shims, so it looks like the check was necessary.

And I don't get why the synthetic oil they suggest is so expensive, nor why it is used so early in life of the engine. I thought synthetics are best used after engine is well bedded in - say 5000 km +??

My 1000 km service cost 1923 baht.

The labour cost is for 3 hours of labour, not only for replacing the shims, but the other things they do too.

300 baht per hour ain't that much. Do you want to work for 300 baht per hour? Didn't think so.

I went to Pirelli the other day and I had to pay a service charge of 600 baht for a 20 minute job.

If you want quality and western standards, you will pay for it.

But I don't mind paying it here, as back home it will cost more than double.

I would be more then happy to take a job for $10 per hour no taxs especially here in thailand...thats almost 50% more then USA minimum wage....Mosr falang school teachers with a degree dont make that here...

I went to showpow (pirelli) and no service and free drinks and free internet

They have a oil mafia here same as the cheese mafia. Oil is crazy priced here. You dont have to use synthetic do you?
