  1. It's a bit of a shame that all the knobs who constantly harp on about Chinese bikes don't put in half the same effort asking why the Jap manufacturers have such a limited range here and why Thailand has such a restrictive tax regime.

How many have even actually seen the bike in a showroom?

Sent from my GT-I9003 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Who do you want to ask? There are plenty of people voicing their dislike of the taxation on bikes here (virtually every other post) but it's not like we can do anything about it. Maybe we should stand outside Yingluck's place with a banner and start chanting "What do we want? Cheap R1's. When do we want them? NOW"

I'm not sure why your 2 points should have any effect on people giving their opinion on this bike. Seeing it in a showroom is one thing but riding and servicing it for 30,000 kms is another. I don't know for sure if it will hold up any more than you do, but given that Benelli wasn't exactly the hallmark of excellence before the Chinese took them over then I'd say that it's reasonable to speculate that this might not be raising any bars in terms of quality. I can understand taking a punt for 25,000 on a Chinese scooter, but a 296,000 baht punt on a Chinese sportsbike? Not for me. I doubt you'll buy one either, but if you do then good luck to you - I admire your bravery and look forward to hearing how it goes.

i needed a laugh this morning thanks

  2. those are about 75,000 for a full system or 30% of the cost of the bike.

wont be 30% on a real benelli

Are you saying because they are made in china they are not real? Iphones are made there and some are real///

    http://www.qj-group.com/english/

iam saying this because i doesnt look like benelli have anything to do with these moldes from china, if it were at least build under benellis supervision. So its a chinese bike with a benelli sticker on it which may isnt too bad for its price but not my cup of tea. Real Benellis are coming from itlay or at least from a factory under Benllis supervision.

They must be real according to this they are still in italy... http://www.benelli.com.au/history

Amazing to see the chinese and italians together. I never thought of italian product to be of quality they do always have flash.

  3. ok, 7 from 39... 32 houses should be enough to avoid running into security and maintenance issues. And the village maintenance fund should consult a lawyer.

As I said, it becomes a domino effect, others will start to ask why they should be paying and carrying the free-loaders.
By which contract are these houseowners bound to the maintenance fund?Do they have a right of passage on the street inscribed on the Chanote (at the back)? If not, I propose the maintenance fund builds a wall across their street access.
Good suggestion, but not quite that simple. By restricting street access to those that aren't paying, you would also be restricting those that are. My idea would be to deny vehicle access to the village itself. Just inform security of the licence plate numbers of those that aren't paying.

You can not deny access to their house as thailand has right of way laws to your property. The best you can do is sue.

  4. LL Your saying you felt like you had a ignition cut off at a certain speed

but you were not near redline?

Did it just feel like a major bog?

Maybe it is a fuel feed related deal & not ignition per se'

Yes mania. I was not near redline - but close - and it cut.

I thought about a fuelling problem but i redline every gear so why it needs to wait until 189 kmh at 6th gear magically?

Still cbr500r is smooth and very stable at 189 kmh. Not even a shake and wants to go faster as still there is more room up there. Cool bike.

LL 190may be the power limit. Just because you have a redline does not mean the bike can do it in top gear.

  5. It might be an idea to run a leak down test on all cylinders.

That looks like it will be a real sweet Track bike when you get it finished. Your doing great on getting it running right for just getting it you seem to be whittling it down quickly! Did Shopow get your Rosso,s for your bike?

I can see what you mean I would be real bummed thrashing your 1000 on the track.

Good luck. See you next ride

    Barry

If i can not pin down the issue i will do a compression test. I dont see the need for a leak down on a simple gas engine. If i dont have compression the top end will be open for inspection. I really think the compression is ok as the bike runs great above idle.

Yes i removed the wheels and went to showpow. The lady was very nice and sent me the gogle map via whatsapp. They were proffesional and i would use them again. One issue i had is one of the tires had a 2012 date code. They did not volunteer this info but answered truthful when asked. Not a big deal

  6. The 3rd plug looks suspect but i can not be certain that this is a issue...I cleaned them and re installed them. I also ordered a new set from the states..

Wouldn't it be easier to buy new plugs from a local bike shop?

The short answer is NO. I dont seem to have any luck finding parts for a non thai made bike here. I could put in substitutes but that seems to be a waste of money. Previously bolts, clamps etc were replaced with non oem. I have ordered all oem to replace these.

Panda Rider stocks NGK plugs from Japan if you decide to swap them out.

Good info to know. I have a order being re-shipped from partzilla with plugs and lots of goddies...

  7. Once you've had Duc, you never go back :P

They inspire passion because they are designed, engineered and built with true passion, not committees. But the Superbikes, at least, are very uncompromising to the point of being fitness machines. If yr not in shape when u start riding one, it'll whip u into shape. Its one of the reasons i love em.

And that rigor in riding position, the firmness of suspension/chassis/brakes/engine... all in perfect balance... can save yr bacon at-speed! on lesser bikes, a quick, evasive swerve-brake maneuver can be difficult at best. And sometimes, only serious power will teach locals their Toyota is a complete turd (is that TRD stands for?) next to yr bike. With the stupidity that comes at you at every turn in LoS, it's worth thinking about.

I dont know about inspiring passion. I will tell you that if you dont have passion one would be much happier with a jap bike. Although the italians have style thats where it ends imho.

  9. I know you enjoy a project but that would drive me f'n nuts- I'm diggin' the thread, though.:)

Yankee. You should have it ready just in time for Bira . . . . To close down :pThat's happening soon isn't it? Sent from my i-mobile i-STYLE Q6

I really enjoy these projects and the work takes my mind off of other bs. If it come out properly i do get some satisfaction.. If bira closes i can go to a different track of course it wont be 10 minutes away.

If the book comes i also have a option to sell at a nice profit.

  10. Definitely not firing on all cylinders, suggest you start with the igniters. You can remove one plug wire at a time, start with 3. Start the bike if it idles the same you found your issue. Move to plug 1, replace plug 3 wire of course. Start, if it gets worse you just double verified the problem because now your 2 cylinders down instead of 1. Swap igniter from 3 to 1 and 1 to three. start engine should still run bad or the same as now. Remove 1 spark plug wire, should run the same as now. Replace 1 wire and remove 3, runs worse you found your bad igniter. Replace and all good.

If I remember correctly the igniters should be the same for all cylinders but it's been a while.

You are absolutely correct and this is my next test.

  11. I then decided to sync the starter valves. The cbr600rr carbs are basically pre adjusted at the factory except the starter valves which controls the idle. Let me say when you are running above idle the bike runs excellent....So here is my quickly made manometer to sync everything...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUCbAwml-iw

they were not way out of sync but needed some adjustment...this still did not solve my issue....

  12. So i am still narrowing the problem down. This is all over the course of a few weeks as its hot and i dont feel like screwing with it everyday. Two days ago i thought the ecu might be receiving a bad signal from the map sensor, Even though i didnt have a fault code i followed the manual and it seemed to test good,.,,While the bike was running i disconnected the vacuum hose from the map and the idle smoothed out a lot. This was weird as why would a open vacuum line help the idle when it should make it worse....I then removed all the lines from the map sensor to the throttle body for inspection. Although they looked good on the outside if you looked at the hole end you could see cracks. I replaced them all and the bike now does not stall out,,,,It still was not perfect and although i think i solved part of the problem its still not the way i wanted it....sorry no pics of the hoses....
