  1. Still no joy. Anyone got any ideas?

I had mixed results with other media players and other channels (I tried with Winamp, KMP and several others with Thai and French free web TV channels). Alas, it seems that only Windows Media Player works now with Thai channels.

So, maybe should you uninstall your current version of Windows Media Player, then reboot your computer, clean your registry (to be sure) with CCleaner (which is free). Then, reinstall Windows Media Player and check whether or not your problem is soved then...

  2. I agree with Mig and think the gold idea is inappropriate. It seems to me that the OP is looking for a special gift with meaning, not an alternative form of payment.

    ...

A gold jewel is not an "alternative form of payment". It's a gift and it has the advantage of being a sort of life insurance too. Again, it is really appreciated. It's a common gift between Thais themselves (for instance during Songkran) when they can afford it.

  3. In 18 months, the baht value may be far lower (for instance its exchange rate against major currencies) than what it is now. It has already lost almost 10% against the dollar during the 6 last months (but in the meanwhile, the baht is 24% higher against the pound and 14% against the euro). Those are great variations in a very short time. I won't bet on the money exchange rates at the moment, and it's a risky bet to grant somebody such a loan, even with a 20% return...

  4. Hello all,

I've finally gotten around to formally joining this forum after a few weeks of reading, as a guest. For my first post I have the following question.

Please can you give me any ideas as to what I can give to my Thai girlfriend as a gift from the UK, when I visit Thailand next month. I originally thought of getting some well known duty-free perfume at Heathrow airport on the way out there, but after doing a search for ideas on this forum, I was quite surprised to read that a percentage of Thai ladies feel that a relationship is doomed if they're given perfume as a present, as per post number 6 on this thread.

I tried posting the thread's URL, but apparently this is forbidden. Anyway the title of the thread is: 'Gift For A Thai Lady From Europe'

Also, as this particular thread hasn't been posted to for over two years, could anyone give me an update.

    Thank you kindly

    :o

No. Perfume is OK. But even better, buy some Thai gold once you are here in Thailand. Much appreciated and it can easily be sold later (if money is needed).

  5. This is the error message after doing what you suggest.

    post-60101-1226834898_thumb.jpg

Yes. It's what I get now. I just have checked with another computer and it's exactly the same problem at the moment. I swear it did work yesterday evening (Thailand time)! :o

Will check with another Media Player, but maybe it's a problem on their side...

  6. My VLC PLAYER doesn't look like that (sigh).......I have no "file" option.

    ...

Sorry, my mistake... It seems that the last version of VLC media player is quite different than the one that I have on my computer. I will give you a new link soon...

  7. ...

(I'm afraid I won't be able to type in the above mentioned player either....I can't locate where :o

I wrote it in my previous post. In VLC Media Player "File" menu, select the "Open Network Stream" option (I wrote: "File -> Open Network Stream" earlier). Then, type or copy the following: http://www.eieitv.com/asx/thai-ch3.asx in the HTTP/HTTPS/MMS URL field.

    72ecf1e8f6.gif

It should work then. About your Windows Media Player, you may have to uninstall and reinstall it, but first, try with VLC Media Player at least for diagnostic purpose.

  8. Loa koa , white whiosky, whar percentage? why am i so drunk.? is it dangerous?

wow. good stuff. i moaned that b eeer doesnt get me drunk so mny friend pours me laosd koas. wooopieeeee.!!!

should i drink it it ? or is it bad stuff?

happy loy kratong to you all.

    pissd as a newt,

Isn't it "Lao Khao" (เหล้าขาว = white alcohol)? As every alcoholic beverage, it might be dangerous, depending on your consumption and its origin.

  9. ...

OK, I've tried all that. No luck. I tried Internet Explorer ...no luck.

The media player works for other sites....video stuff, but doesn't seem to work for any streaming video. This worked two days ago.....what the heck happened?

Many things could have happened... at this point, I would suggest that you try with another media player, for instance, VLC Media Player. You can download it here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

Once installed, you have to type (or copy) the following: http://www.eieitv.com/asx/thai-ch3.asx

(File -> Open Network Stream) in the HTTP/HTTPS/MMS URL field.

If it works with VLC Media Player, you may have a problem with your Windows Media Player (and we can try to find out how to solve it). But if it doesn't work with VLC Media Player either, it's something else and you need to remember what happened (new program? new update?) since the last time it worked with WMP.

  10. Hello

    Try This

    TV Stations Worldwide

    Chris

I get nothing from maxnet or worldwide.....is eieitv working for anybody else?

eieitv works fine for me at the moment. Maybe should you try to clean your browser cache / temporary internet data and try again? Or define another media player as your default program for streaming videos?

How does one go about cleaning the browser cache / temporary internet data?

Sorry if thats a dumb question.

I'm using Mozilla firefox by the way......any tips?

In Firefox, it's equivalent to clearing the private data (Tools -> Clear Private Data). Then, you can select which kind of data you want to clear, and in your case, I would clear at least the "cache" and "offline website data".

Try also with another browser if it does not solve your problem.

  11. Hi Guys,

I feel a bit stupid asking this, and believe me I have spent a good hour trying to find out the answer before asking here.

Q: How do I embed / place a photo into the body of a post please? It keeps asking me for a URL. The file is on my computer, it does not have a URL...or does it?

Once again, sorry for asking but I really want to throw some stuff into Evaluate My Photos and I am too stupid to even place the photos there.

    Thanks in advance.

You have to upload your picture first on a web server, for instance here: http://imagehoster.us

Use the "Browse" button, select your picture from your computer, and click on "Upload Image". Then, your image will be uploaded on ImageHoster.us and the code that you have to insert in your post will be displayed.

Note that only the underlined part is needed, but it won't hurt if you copy and paste the whole line.

The result in your post will be the following:

  12. Hi Internet Gurus,

I am about to go to upgrade to fully paid version of one of the file transfer services from the free version.

Looking at the offerings, and there are many, Send This File and You Send It are the ones I know the most about. Is there another one rather than these I should be considering?

Of these two, Send This File seems to have a huge load of options under its business plan for $19.95 a month, while You Send It's business plan version is $29.95. Any thoughts or experiences?

    Thanks a lot.

It's pretty expensive IMHO. I don't know what are your exact needs, but maybe a cheap and real hosting solution would be better?

Have a look there for instance:

  13. Mystery solved: Fee schedule website need to inquire FD flights Thai Air Asia: domestic is 80 THB/ kg + 7% VAT.

website has AK, QZ, FD and D7 flights.

So extra 15kg x 80 gives 1200B + VAT, hmmmm, will compare with NOK Plus fares first.

Nok Air is normally 50BATH/kg.Two months ago we had 7kg over the 30kg for two persons and they charged us nothing. As far as I can remember Air Asia only allows 10kg per person domestic,Nok Air 15kg and 30kg for Nok Plus.

No. Air Asia allows 15 kg per person on domestic flights.

  15. This may be a stupid question, but I can't find any information locally.

How do you order one lorry load of cement, for a driveway.

Is there a telephone number somewhere (in Pattaya).

How much cement (cu.m.) can one lorry deliver - minimum and maximum?

    Thanks

I don't know where you can find that in Pattaya, but a lorry can deliver up to approximately 7 m3 (cubic meters) each time. I needed 25 m3 a few years ago (2004) and the lorry came 4 times (3 x 7 m3, and 4 m3 only for the last delivery). I'm not certain about the price (I can't remember for sure at the moment) but if I am not mistaken, it was 1300 baht per m3 (including the delivery) then.

  16. Last month I was 4 kilos over and it cost me 660 baht in total = 165 per kilo. They are one of the few airlines in this part of the world that will enforce it, even for small amounts, taking their cue from the money grabbing european airlines.

This was short haul (BKK - KL), they may be more lenient with long haul.

That was also an international flight. Domestic rates are generally cheaper.

That's right. And I forgot to say in my previous post that it was for a domestic flight (Bangkok-Udon Thani).

  17. Seems last time I paid for excess baggage on domestic Air Asia it was 80 THB/kg + VAT.

Just checked their website fees and their FAQ fee schedule shows 165 THB/kg :o

Coming back from Europe I will have 30kgs at least, so 15*165=2475B!!! to add to ticket price.

They also claim you can purchase additional kgs online, but can not find where when booking.

If that is so I will rather fly Nok Plus or Thai.

Anyone paid recently for additional kgs on Thai Air Asia?

Last time for me was in September this year and it was approximately 70 or 80 baht/kg + VAT (I don't remember exactly, but I had a bit more than 4 kgs of excess baggage and paid a little more than 300 baht).

  18. Hi

Maybe someone can help me looking for a job in Thailand that pays 10,000 pounds a month and having trouble finding it. As you known the pound is declining and I need more money for living in Thailand

Ten thousand pounds !!!! 500,000 baht ??? Wow, you must be living full time in the Eden Club ! :D

Nah! It must be the weight measurement unit. Ten thousand pounds = 4536 kg. Then, the OP can work in rice fields and be paid with 4.536 metric tons of buffalo shit per month. :o Not a bad deal IMHO. :D

  19. There seems to be a problem with some https pages and FF3. I've seen problems trying to negotiate payment gateways, changing nameservers, doing secondary logins, etc.

Had a problem last night and again today, 5 tries to get a domain registered .. wouldn't work. Switched to IE 7 and it worked right away. This thing seems to happen when bandwidth is a little marginal. Maybe it's how FF does a https request?

I don't think so as I have no problem using FF3 with any secure website. Maybe it's something in your FF3 local cache. I would suggest to clear your private data (especially your cache, offline data and if it doesn't solve the problem, clear also your cookies and authenticated sessions).

  20. I recently got hooked up to TT&T Maxnet (3Mbps/1Mbps) Premier, which performs excellently.

Today (since 7 am) I have no internet connectivity, my router is connected perfectly, but instead of getting a public IP address from TT&T's IP range (58.xxx.xxx.xxx or 124.xxx.xxx.xxx) I'm now getting a 10.120.xxx.xxx IP address, which is in a private range, and I'm getting no connectivity at all to the outside world.

TT&T call center is telling me that it is a Chonburi problem.

So, is anybody online using Maxnet, and thus TT&T is pulling my leg ? :o

I'm using TT&T Maxnet at the moment and it works fine. It had been really slow two days ago for a few hours, but everything is back to normal since.

Oops. Forgot to say that I am not in your area but in Northeastern Thailand, so, my post is not relevant (about the situation in your area, sorry).

  21. Still unresolved but if/when I sort out the problem, I will post the solution here for inf of any others who may encounter the same problem. Currently contemplating deleting the entire network settings on all computers and starting a new setup as a last resort.

If you can, try to plug an USB WiFi network adapter (it's not expensive nowadays - I bought one SMC Networks SMCUSB-G2 802.11g 54mbps last year for 650 baht) on your notebook and check if you access your WiFi network with this new device.

If it works, then, your problem is very likely related with your current Wifi device, and probably with its driver. Then, stay connected using your new USB wifi adapter, delete your current (apparently defective) Wifi network adapter in your device list (in the device manager utility) and make your computer scanning for hardware changes: it should attempt to reinstall your previous Wifi network adapter and its driver and it may solve your problem (you can test without your new USB wifi network adapter if it works then).
