I like 3BB too, I have been with them for many years, very rarely had problems, and none major.
However, I use AIS when away from the house and where free WIFI is not available, and they are always good. Also several acquaintances use their monthly plans and are happy with them.
So, here's hoping!!

Let us know how you got on.
My friend couldn't guarantee being available for an appointment set by VHS, so finally I posted to an agent in Pattaya.
It has gone smoothly so far, and my documents have been forwarded to HMPO..
Thanks for all replies and advice.

Thanks; I have had Key Visa and Thai Visa Express recommended.

Thank you both for your posts.
Unfortunately, Nick no longer carries out this service, but he sent me a very helpful email.

I intend to apply soon and, as I am unable to travel to Bangkok, I will have to use an agent. I would like to know whether anyone has any knowledge or experience of an agent in the Ubon area, or reasonably close.
If not, and I have to use an agent via the postal system, any recommendations/warnings would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I think the word/meaning is, so they have you by the balls when they want to change something to claw back money, a bit like them doing away with a pension top-up for having a wife, that started in 2010, all those who were receiving it, lost it in 2020. ????
Yes, I was one of the losers.
Pension rules were that my initial pension rate was frozen until death, which is bad enough, but the bureaucratic bastards decided they could de-frost it long enough to swipe the allowance!

A few days ago I had a call which my wife answered as I was out of the room.
It said they were the police and I hadn't paid some fines for jumping red lights twice; she just stopped the call.

Another success story, to encourage others!
Registered on Thursday, received password email within a few minutes. Filled in report form and it was accepted within half an hour.
Yesterday received approval and date for next report.
About 24 hours in total - thank you Ubon Immigration.
**My first try said invalid; it could have been I read Capcha wrongly, but believe it may have been because of AutoFill. Immediately filled in details manually and all OK.
This was with Chrome browser.

You can renew whenever you like, there is no maximum time before expiry.
OK, thank you.

You passport is returned after the application is completed. Pay the agent to send it back to you and then send it back to him when the new one can be picked up.
Fair enough UJ, but concerned at the amount of times that my passports are travelling backwards and forwards???? But I guess that this is what I will have to do.

That's ok if you live near an agent, if not it might be better to take by hand to VFS.
That is my problem, not living near an agent. Travelling to Bangkok will be very difficult, but I don't fancy posting my passport to an agent, then waiting months without it until old and new are posted to me.
Incidentally, I am aware that UK no longer adds on unexpired dates, but can I renew a year before expiry, or is it 9 months at the earliest? I have seen both dates stated on google.

My apologies as apparently I and many others were wrong and when referring to TAT offerings that is unusual. Very strange how only minor media outlets are carrying this item when more august outlets like BBC and Bangkok Post (no comparison I know) had nothing. Many of us assumed that, like before, TAT were spinning a tale. And no - we would not attend such an event ever.
Must agree that TAT usually spouts rubbish????

He just wants to start his new year with some Thai bashing, so has ignored videos and reports of the event.????

I have used all 3 offices in Ubon. Phibun for serval years without a problem until they did a big change of officers but that was only the first year and after that it was good. Then only once for my extension at Sirindhorn and then the office here in the city without problems.
Well said Joe. This is practically word for word my experience over the past 25 years.

(I visited the Sirindhorn office (Ubon Immigration) yesterday and was greeted by Pol.Sen.Sgt.Maj Wisit Mortmart. He provided great service on my retirement visa issues. The wait time to see the immigration officer was very short. He had all the answers to my questions and treated me in a professional manner. Just wanted to share my positive experience.)
================
I remember Wisit from our visits to Sirindhorn before Ubon office was opened. A very helpful man; he once stayed half an hour through his lunchbreak to help with a situation.
Several of the Sirindhorn staff transferred to Ubon, and they, and newer staff, are also friendly and helpful.

I used the location given by Kwasaki and Ojas to enquire.
They sent me a PDF to complete and return - by post, of course, despite their mail not reaching me, and my telling them of current difficulties with Thai/UK mail.
But it was an informative, helpful reply, and stated that "the Department has greatly extended the return period for the life certificate so your pension will not be suspended "

Due to the retirement of my dentist, I would appreciate any recommendations for a dentist in town.
A reasonable English speaking level would be a bonus, but pain-free performance is number one priority for this coward.
Thanks for any guidance.

Application accepted and advised that the 1st vaccine would be in July.
I had not been to the health clinic before and knew nobody there .
Messaged on the 3rd of August to receive the first vaccine at a hospital in Chiang Mai .
Received the second vaccine which was Astra Zenica on the 23rd of August .
Have some pain in the arm three days after the second vaccination . Felt rather lethargic for two days . Up and running ok now. The first vaccine I had no problems at all.
I am grateful to the Thai government for the vaccine supplied . Main aim for me is to avoid the ventilator and that seems well possible with the vaccine I have taken .
Many people on Asean Now talking down the sinovac vaccine . I truly believe they are misinformed about the quality of the vaccine from the media reports around the world . There are good reasons why that is so . It has nothing to do with quality.
I received Sinovac last week at my local government hospital, where I am registered, and will have AZ in September,
I am still awaiting any news from expatvac, so when my wife phoned the hospital and they said come in next day, I grabbed the opportunity. For me, taking the Sinovac/AZ choice was preferable to waiting for a possible expatvac Phizer later. Like you said, aged 80 I want to avoid the ventilator and, although this combo may possibly not be as effective as Phizer, I feel more relaxed now I have taken the first step.
To me, a first jab is better than an indefinite wait.

In Ubon area had 3BB. No real complaints. Once every 3 or 4 months might go down for a while, but that even happens in the States. Good pricing. No real experience with AIS other that cell phones.
We are in Ubon too, and can endorse your 3BB comments. Over 15 years now, and very few problems, which were dealt with rapidly.

Using Wise to transfer to Siam Commercial Bank

I am considering using Wise to transfer sterling from my UK bank to SCB, instead of by ATM withdrawals.
I would appreciate any information from SCB customers who have done this, such as average time taken and SCB fees, if any.
Many thanks.
