Thanks guys. I am based in Phuket and BKK, shuttling a lot between these 2 places. To me it don't really matter where the MC is based cause I ride a lot. What I really need to know is if there is a website featuring list of all Thai based Motorcycle Clubs so I can check them out. I am 99%, not interested in Outlaws type of shit.

Has anyone here thought of establishing brand new, nationwide MC with chapters all over the country? I see CroBiker is working on it, any thoughts?

hi dirk ,go to a good book shop in bangkok and look for ride thailand magazine,,this will get you up to date a bit regarding the thai biker scene ...there is a brilliant bike scene in thailand with bike weeks on every month.......

I'm probably one of those non social types that so many of you don't understand. I happen to enjoy my own company and that of my Thai wife. My wife is a country girl. She doesn't own a dress or a tube of lipstick. She enjoys working on our two small farms and other than the actual tilling of the ground, I avoid the manual work.

Once a month or so, I meet up with a farang or two and have a few beers. My wife's family accept the fact that I'm a crotchety old fart and they respect my desire for privacy. Like most Thais, my wife is close to her family. Her family lives in the next village and my wife visits them on a daily basis. I'm perfectly content to stay at home. I have many projects to work on and don't get bored. This is my idea of a perfect retirement. I worked all my life looking forward to my laid back life style and I plan to enjoy it as long as I can. It's been several months since I wore long pants and shoes. I hope it is several more months before I have to dress uncomfortably.

Interesting....their 2008 Hayabusa is 630k compared to Teera's 790k. 160k price difference, enough to buy brand new Ninja 250.

hi can anyone tell me how is the prices of property going at the moment in thailand ? prices are dropping every where in europe and elsewhere now due to recession, is thailand the same ,im thinking about buying but would it be better to wait to 2009 and see will prices go down further,,im just talking about nice sized houses nothing too exclusive,im no millionaire......any info would be great thanks....

All the " nae sayers" on this forum will bombard your mind with the usual, rent dont buy, if u cant spell it dont sign it, blah de blah de blah!.

Now there is a well known fact that at the beginning of this week, a document was submitted to parliment regarding changes ownership methods of Thai property, a 90 day consultation period exists, so from start of Nov, Start of Feb should see a result. ( what result ? )

But i guess ther will be an influx of " members" or whatever, that "....if u have not seen the telly this week!

So in answer to your opening question, the very simple answer is buy now before new legislation forces an increase by means of easier ownership and nothing else!!

NO ONE knows what else is coming regarding the financial crisis and IMO there is worse

to come........................in the first quarter of 2009 and even if there isnt

a crash here in LOS equally there will no rampaging increases in values...........why not rent and take your time

until the recovery is clearly visible which wont be next year

rope yet either ,id say around march/april we will be in the thick of it, thats why i posted the thread ,i thought to my self that i would be better to wait until well in 2009 before i make a move,thailand cant be any different to anywhere else regarding this economic downturn,,you couldnt give away houses at the moment here in ireland.ive seen houses drop from 1.4 million euro in dublin to 730.000 euro now.an half acre site in the country was getting up to 120.000 euro ,i bet by next june 50.000 will buy it.imagine paying 120 thousand euro before you lay a block-madness...

The rules don't apply here. Buy to live and don't borrow to invest and you will be fine, your better off picking up housing that has bottomed out in UK, USA and OZ for bigger returns later

Since you are new here, do you understand that foreigners in Thailand can not own the land under the house?

Most of people on this forum have houses in their Thai wife's name, some have through company ownership (complicated and not very secure), some do tricks like 30 years lease back from their Thai wife.

Many (like me) bought a condo, that is ok in own name, no land involved

thanks bigbikebkk i get ride thailand all the time but did you ever notice they have reports on events that have already taken place but were never advertised in the magazine before hand .i think you need to be in good contact with some one who is in the know so to speak ,like jumeen of burapa mc ,if there is a bike week on the chances are he will be there.........it would be great if there was a thai bikers forum out there in english language...i know about gt rider before anyone says......

Hi rbrick49, that is the best looking trike I have seen for many years! Don't even think about taking it. Get a locker at Fort Knox and mothball it till you head back to OZ. Yer I know you said "come to Thailand to live" but ya never said forever!

I think it would be fair to have single topic for rating all big bike dealers in Thailand, my appologies if there is a similar thread somewhere out there.

What would be your best 3 choices upon taking following into consideration:

1. Variety - choice of bikes

2. Customer service - pre and after sale

3. Aftermarket parts, modifications etc

4. Ability to import latest models

5. Honesty - pre-sale bike condition, warranty, legality of "green book"

6. Price

Please let us know and if possible provide location info or link to their websites.

I hear good things about Red Baron but incidentaly never had dealings with them. Bought bikes from MOTOZONE BKK just before they runaway with customers money (I was lucky) and Teera who are turning from bad to worse at the moment.

the more i read all these stories im getting confused, you would think that buying a new bike from a main dealer that there would be no problems and all above board ......i would hate to get screwed out of money after paying good money for a new bike

I was/am member of clubs in Europe, Malaysia and here in USA (currently working here) and unable to attend 3 nations charity ride which makes me really upset...oh well, better luck next time. You and me should definitely hook-up, let's talk via PM.

I lived in Malaysia for 8 years, down there street/sport bikers are very passionate and well organized. Since moving to Thailand in 2001 they have been teasing me about poor state of Thai superbike clubs. In fact I am not sure if there are any such clubs out there, all I see is easy rider, harley clubs etc.... The reason most of them refuse to come for Phuket Bike Week is because they feel kind of unwelcome.

Is there truely such club in Thailand, anyone? if yes, what activities are they involved with, namely charity, group rides etc?

there is a hundreds of bike clubs in thailand,there is a wide diversity of different style clubs ,get ride thailand magazine ,this has a list of all the clubs ,most mc clubs are chopper/harley based but plenty of sportsbike clubs too ,streetfighters havent really go going yet in thailand but i reckon it will only take a while and there should be mad looking bikes around. the thai bike scens is one of the best i ever seen,every one parties together ,if you live in phuket go to nickys handle bar ,he speaks good english ,he could give you some good advice..you cant just start up a club with any colour you want ,top n bottom rockers etc in case you might conflict with any one elses colours.the mad dog mc got trouble from ha in europe coz they used red n white,thats just example ......go to sports bike specific shops and you should meet up with other like minded heads.........

Thanks Barry, I know all these guys for years now. Same goes for every bike dealer too and there only handfull of big sport bike dealerships in Phuket and that includes BMW at Thepkasatri Rd.

In past I drove my Hayabusa to Nicky's and people over there looked at me as if I was to declare war on them. They didn't seem to welcome non-chopper riders. Bad attitude came mostly from beer bellied old farts, not younger ones. As far as me taking advice from these guys: consider the fact that I've been in MC's in Europe, USA and Malaysia for 22 years, hardly I could hear someting new from them.

Phuket MC and Sumon are much nicer people but hard to get in touch. Takes ages to get reply from them even if you inquiring to buy a bike let alone anything else.

get ride thailand magazine ,it is written in both thai and english,it has most dates and happenings in the thai bike scene , there is alist of most of the biker mc clubs in it too . i was at phuket bike week in april ,it was good but the pattaya bike week is better and bigger ,it will be on again 14-15 feb 09 ,the chiang mai bike week is supposed to be very big too,that is on in december ,formulate hel_l mc are throwing a big party there. there is nearly a bike week on every week some months ,hope this is of some help.
