  1. I have had it 3 times over a 4 year period. Dont tell me you cant get it twice because you can. Am living proof of it. But that is not the point. Here in Bangkok where I live the mosquito problem is rampant! I live next to a wet market that operates from 4AM till noon. Have asked the govt department that deals with it to come over after my 3rd infection to fume the place. But nope!!! The market people went nuts claiming they loose a days trade. Oh well.... And lately the kids at the market here also got infected but still they wont budge! Guess as soon as the kids of the owner get it something will be done.

Why don,t you move, if it's affecting your health so much!
  2. Hello again, my wife has finally passed LIUlK test and B1.

My question is this we are going to apply for ILR visa when we return from our holiday in Thailand inMarch next year.this year 2015, we spent five weeks in Thailand in January and we want to go to Thailand on the 25th December and spend about 70 days there, am I allowed to do this, i.e spend more than 90 days away

  3. Thais don't like to travel too far, locate a business near you and ask there staff, do they have any friends or family that want to work, and always let them know the salary, if it's more than they are getting they might leave their job and will work for you.

If you get good staff, treat them good, give them all the tips, and don't expect them to be as good as western staff, because they are not

I once employed a girl in my business and in the afternoons we were not busy, so wifey and I went shopping one day and I asked my one staff who had nothing to do while I am gone can you clean the back of the door in the kitchen, when I got back she did one of the doors and not the other, and I asked her why had she not done it, she said, I didn't think you wanted that door done!

  4. As far as my wife's situation , the school will test her and then tell you what level she starts at.

My wife has just got her FLR last month,

I wanted her to go for levell 3 this year, as last two years she did A1, reading, listening ,writing, etc.

The school said she could not jump a level, as the government has stopped people doing this

  5. I would guess no one has any idea.... but think when you get to Donsak, there will probably be some taxi's there.... or just ask and one will appear in short order ....

Why not just get a bus directly to the Airport? Easy and cheap, joint ticket... including ferry... wink.png

they don't do a bus ticket that early in the morning, and I cannot chance a taxi just in case there's none there, or I will miss my flight

    Who is "they"?

Have you checked directly with Seatran phone 077 275063 (their web site does not seem to be fully functional at the moment)

Or Raja Ferry, check their web page, looks like you can get ticket for 600 baht including pickup from your Hotel to Airport... http://www.rajaferryport.com/ The 6 am ferry + bus gets to airport at 10.30 am

I know some of the "travel agents" around Samui, only use certain times for arranging pick up.... so just try checking directly with the ferry companies, above... (The Lomprayah high speed one will be too late for you)

From experience in the past, you just need to ask when you get to Donsak for a Taxi .... if one not there then someone will call for one.... I just asked at ticket office.

    Good luck!

seatran couldn't do that time, neither could sombat, and one other I tried, I didn't try raja. I am going by car now, but I will try and get a taxi number from donsak, and I will repost it on here for others

  7. Hi all. I have just moved in to a new house, and it has what I would call a natural well, that is,a number of concrete rings going in to the ground about 10 metres maybe.

At the bottom is soft, which I would say is sand .

My Thai wife says the water smells, and we should get someone in to clean it.

    Is this possible

  8. My wife could speak, read and write English well. She had prepared with courses in Thailand over a number of years. She still took a course in the UK (ESOL with life skills) and gained a lot of benefit from it. Her confidence was boosted and she has friends of many nationalities. Playing cards and gambling is entirely a Thai social activity unless my younger son joins them. He practices his Thai counting skills as he loses money!

She spent a lot of time using a computer course to pass the written driving test and I say again the LitUK test is no more difficult to pass than the driving test. She did not have to do the test but like most Thai's I know would have taken it in her stride!

Settlement fees are high but by the time you factor healthcare and schooling plus the other benefits of living in the UK still seem a bargain to me!
