Yeah, we absolutely have such a not knowing clientel of people want to sign on this forum. Actually if people were read up to date everything would be a bliss.

Like this! If you stay in Thailand alone and single. You must be 50 for a holder of a Non-O visa. If you have a child with or are married to a thai woman, you can actually get the same visa at 19 years of age.

However if you choose to stay alone and be single, you must can show minimum 65000 bath a month or equal to 800000 bath a year, and them you are going to be on a retirement visa, means 50 and up.

If you have a child to visit and be with or a family you have to show 40000 bath a month.

Can anybody please provide links/info here... TIA

  2. i was given 2 months instead of 3 today.

the 1st staff member said it can be changed to 3 months by his boss - the boss asked me how i can afford to live here.

    then gave me 2 months.

when i asked why, i was told (very quietly) by staff no. 1 (for extra 1900, ha ha ha...)

i will no longer be studying this pointless 'ranguage' - until they start abusing their positions with other legitimate applicants...

    piss-takers!!!

  3. IME the 5 hour delay is 100% due to the morning period being spent with 'sataff' playing on their phones, casual flirting with each other & trinket buying/selling/sharing.. and ALMOST NO work being done until 11.00AM. 5 hours to get a stamp should be reason enough for them all to be moved to inactive positions but what ya gonna do??

As to the legality of their behaviour we are pretty much out of luck, we are all 'guests' at their discretion - meaning if they say no extension, that means no extension. and they KNOW this!

i have always been disheartened by the ineptitude of these 'civil servants' since they were back in suan phlu - now they have a shiny office complex their attitudes have grown even more contemptuous and i cant see it getting any better without a severe regime change.

all this shit directed at students who actually bother to extend and potentially nothing aimed at the 'many' illegal workers who just ignore the 'rules' and do what they like!!

its a sick joke. paying through the nose to get mediocre education from mediocre 'teachers' who are themselves subject to a biased system run by mediocre 'servants'

    DISGUSTED!!

the fact that all this 'cant' be solved by automated extensions is revealing enough. How many of these people would be considered employable anywhere else??

like the 'ticket staff' at the BTS 'ticket office' who do nothing more than change notes into coins & occasionally issue one day tickets which is even LESS than the ticket machines can do!!!

A complete waste of time, effort, money and space!!! every single station could/would be much improved with 3-4 extra gates and no 3-4 lazy asses sat in A/C all day frowning (not to mention their pathetic, stinking attitudes...)

    (also, whats a mohenth??)

  4. The price is dependant on which Erdinger beer you choose.

Last year we bought Erbinger Dunkel (not Weissbier) at 2,160 THB a case (24 x 0.5l), which ran at 90THB a bottle. Pretty sure that was before the revenue increase though. The wholesaler basically said that if we could buy a beer or spirit in Thailand, he could get it for us. We're drinking draught Guiness at the moment.

We're not in Pattaya though, so maybe not much help to you. I would recommend that you scout your local wholesalers, however.

    Jerry

where are you located and which wholesaler?

    Many Thanks

  5. in my experience it is ALWAYS about money.

i have 2 children i am not permitted to know/see due to greed, dishonesty and 'face'

i am fully aware of the living standards of these people and am fearful daily for the lives that my children must endure due to the indifference/greed of their local relatives.

what can we do but pray for the day that our children see them in the same light that we do.?

it is so sad that children are used as pawns in the game of greed that is so prevalent here.

and then as free labour/dogsbodies as they mature....

    So sad!

    So painful!

  6. this is the FIRST time I have EVER heard of Thai women or 'men' actually wanting 'their own' children.

Plenty of wanting other peoples children for deviant pleasure/profit!!

In my personal experience it has always been a case of 'get rid of the annoying kid/s ASAP' send them to the country so they wont be a burden etc.(until they can work/steal/beg/earn)

i have 2 half thai children im not permitted to see/know because of disgustingly greedy locals and their money hungry families.!!

and its the children that suffer the most from this narrow-minded herd mentality!

    late edit^^

  7. exacerbate
    ɪɡˈzasəbeɪt,ɛkˈsas-/
    verb
verb: exacerbate; 3rd person present: exacerbates; past tense: exacerbated; past participle: exacerbated; gerund or present participle: exacerbating
make (a problem, bad situation, or negative feeling) worse.

lifelong ignorance exacerbates the problem of lifelong ignorance/ignorants??

anyway, who needs a blanket to stay warm whilst wearing shorts & flipflops??

    help!!!

  8. Exacerbates what?..........I just got back from England where it was minus 7. Yesterday plus 20 in Udon. What do they do with the blankets

they are given year on year?

    "Exacerbates what?.."

It means gets worse, ie "Winter gets worse in Thailands northern region"

A few hundred blankets doesn't go far, even year on year, and at this time of year you would expect England to be cold wouldn't you?

I'd bet it wasn't 20+ at night in Udon, unless Udon has the magical property of retaining the same highest daytime temperature after sunset.

It needs a noun, i.e. Drought exacerbates poverty.

Lifelong ignorance exacerbates the patience of everyone else?

  10. just wait for the taxi scum to start smashing up passengers phones when we use technology to prove they are theiving rapist vermin who shopuldnt be allowed on the road, let alone to interact with the public.

name & shame means nothing to these people, loss of fakeface is everything (apart from money, ethyl alcohol & sexual abuse)

  11. Most middlemen are not Thai:

    Tesco = British

    Tops = Dutch

    Villa = Farang

    etc etc.

Any company that operates in Thailand must be at least 51% Thai!

And actually, the companies you listed are not middlemen but are instead consumer sales outlets.

The biggest middlemen are giant conglomorates like CP and Saha group who control virtally all consumer products, fresh and frozen foods.

yes, but thailiketoo is a rich whore-monger so <deleted> everyone else!

  12. A few families with conglomerates like CP, Saha, Thaibev, etc. control the market from animal food to processed meat and from seeds to products in the shop and the market.

They also control the government, civil servants, etc. They keep any competitor out, dictate the prices and that's why they make huge amounts of money.

The past few years the price increases have been much faster than before and this elite group is robbing the lower and middle class people completely dry.

It's ridiculous that in a low wage country like Thailand, one of the worlds biggest food exporters the food prices are now at a western European level, it's pure exploitation by these about 20 families that run the show.

In the past year many of my daily expenses like lunch, coffee, fruit, beer, pork etc have all gone up by 25%!

    EXACTLY!!

It is ridiculous as well as disgusting.

and yet there are so many people who want to ignore these facts - and indeed try and prove that these facts are irrelevant.

i can understand poorly educated people having poor opinions.

if it was clean here i doubt it would even matter that prices have increased, but quality of life & products has dropped, HARD.

the ONLY things still cheap here are pretty much garbage!

and the customer 'service' here has only gone from terrible to offensively terrible - is that due to all the amazing graduates??

My doctor and vet both make house calls. My bank is open at nights and on the weekends. I can buy prescription meds at the pharmacy and get them delivered to my door for a fraction of Western prices and with no prescription.

I live in a high tech house with large screen TV awesome sound system (all interconnected) Satellite, new tablet and smart phone beautiful women and everything I could ever want and I'm living on Social Security. I eat out whenever and wherever I want. I'm sorry you don't live in Thailand but don't try and fabricate bad stuff because most of us living here are in fat city for peanuts. Oops there is the doorbell (it plays Clementine) my Teuscher chocolates fresh of course.

Ignorance IS bliss, but only for the ignorant.

the rest of us are sickened by you & your ignorant outlook & opinions that affect us all living here.

  13. Many things are cheaper in Europe than in Thailand now. Can somebody explain why this is when tax is only 7% here and in EU approximately 20-25% ?

Indices Difference information.png Consumer Prices in Thailand are 37.05% lower than in Germany Consumer Prices Including Rent in Thailand are 37.00% lower than in Germany Rent Prices in Thailand are 36.83% lower than in Germany Restaurant Prices in Thailand are 63.46% lower than in Germany Groceries Prices in Thailand are 15.59% lower than in Germany Local Purchasing Power in Thailand is 64.84% lower than in Germany Apartment (1 bedroom) Outside of Centre Germany 424.38 € Thailand 178.90 €

    http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_countries_result.jsp?country1=Germany&country2=Thailand

These comparisons use a very selective package and often lag years behind. Many products and services are cheaper or the same now in western Europe. A reasonable lunch on a parking on the motorway is 3 to 5 Euro in Germany, same or cheaper than here, a decent steak in a pub in center London is 6 GBP, 300 Baht. Pork in the market now is 190 Baht per kg for all parts, that's close to 5 Euro for ribs or belly!

I'm not even starting about beer, let alone wine those are definitely more than in Europe even up to 3 times the price for wine.

Than look at the cost of decent education, bi-lingual schools, let alone international schools that are even more expensive than international schools in Germany, NL, Belgium or France!

    Mortgages of 7%, personal loans from 16 - 25%!

No child support, barely any tax deductions and one of the highest taxes in the region.

I live here with a family of 5 and I spent considerable more here than my brother in Europe with 3 older kids in comparable circumstances and lifestyles and I mean no luxury or going out a lot.

    Oh Look, FACTS!!

quick locals & local apologists, blame them for your failings!!

  14. 2 decades of living among them has given me NO interest in sending my children to be educated in this manner.

i am YET to meet a locally educated person who is not in debt.

or who can drive with consideration and respect of others

or who actually 'knows' anything other than made up racist/nationalist nonsense they picked up from EVERY adult from teachers to taxi drivers!
