  2. Pattaya Mail:

    British tourist robbed and injured

Is this the way to make our guest feel welcome?

PATTAYA: -- A 67-year old British man walking through Soi 6 in Central Pattaya at 11:30 p.m. on the night of September 14 was attacked and injured by three men who stole 7,000 baht and his mobile phone before fleeing in the direction of Second Road.

James Mills told police he had been on his way to meet a friend at one of the beer bars in Soi 2. He said he had been in Pattaya for about a week and was staying at a hotel in Soi 20, on the Pattaya-Naklua Road. Mills said he didn’t expect to be attacked in the city even though his friend had warned him to steer clear of Soi 6. Police sent him to hospital for treatment.

FFresh news!! Every time I need a blow... I'll report later

  3. Listen, to me George for a moment.  You have to balance the stories importance and news vs those who like such and vs those who do not like such stories.

In the past year George you have posted a lot of about murders and sex offenses on Thai Visa.  Quite Frankly if I may say so without offending you, time to chill out on these subjects.  It seems a lot is pointed to Australia, yet at same token Australia has taken a hard line towards these individuals.

Why not concentrate on the Toxin's agenda issues and perhaps we all can somehow link up to him and establish some kind of dialogue that would benefit us foreigners here in Thailand.

How about getting Channel 7 to start cracking down on the Customs Department here, since so many are literally on the take even Shipping Containers here disappear either after its arrival or before its departure.  Just recently a container having nothing but Tennis Balls bound for India disappeared at the docks and it is worth over 400,000 Baht.  I have this news as direct as it can be, and Customs is denying a lot to the Police.

How about another subject    " Why is Pantip Plaza continuining to sell illegal CD's, DVD's, scanners, computers, printers, and illegal programs that have been cracked.  Seems this country does not want to take them out, cause the police are on the take and of course it leads up the ladder towards his office!!!!!!!!!!

We have other news that should be pushed and discussed here.  How about foreigners having a tough time getting around here, not to mention these Thai people find ways to clean them out or scam them or use so much deception that they literally get away with it.

Try benefitting us foreigners for a change George.  It might do some good for your web site.

    :o

:D Where you are? Waukegan, Illinois? Make there a page for the PM, Pantip etc. You'll be safe. And it seems you've been on Thai customs "exam"? Write it your expierence down somewhere. And continiue to buy legal CD. :D

  4. 1. Rule N1 - the bad news sells the newspapers. As an outstanding editor has been told: If for tomorrows edition there is no bad news for the first page - make one.

    2. I share the opinion - if you do not want bad news - do not read them.

    3. May be George must start "fun thaivisa" and "bad thaivisa? Than again will be dissatisfied people - "Why there is "bad thaivisa" because I love "fun thaivisa" - I saw the bad one accidentally and it spoilt my mood :o ???"

    4. George makes 1000 USD monthly only from Google??? Hmmm... but he makes money from adds too! May be I should start my own page... And make my own business, and write whatever I want? :D Or I should stop visit Thaivisa to decrease his incomes :D

    5. And... where is the connection between a supposed Ausie pedo and all postings up to here??? May be a new topic: "Should Thaivisa to publish bad news or it should be as a candyshop?"

  5. Who and how?

LOS is a country with history. Thaivisa.com also has history. WHY this forum has been made?

If some new members are dazed and admins... Cheers!

Some people has made a topic for new members... WHY not for OLD ones...

  6. Hi mates!

i have the following questions for you guys. I have called a person and i strongly suspected tht the number has been changed, this is because of the fact tht the whe i called, the first thing i got was the "callback service", either this , or it was the tu...... tu...... then the callback service. Does anyone know if these are indications for the changing of the number by the intended user?

Nope... Had 3 numbers /prepaid - for others = same, same/ - all the time - differnt... once had roaming...

  7. Is their any pet I can keep in my apartment that will keep the isect population down?  I'm kinda high up so theres not much of a mosquito problem,  but there are small roaches that have made their way in.

    Thanks

Make them biger&bigger. Buy a hand cart. Start a small business. 20 Bt for a pack... and you'll start wonder how to breed more and more...

  8. Sorry once again - I know that it's a Thai forum. But as I know here are some Australians and I'd like to get some kind of objective opinion /not directly from Aussie forum/.

    1. I would like to set business in Australia, and I have chosen Darwin and NT for it - am I right or not? I mean business - like hotel, restaurant and some export.

    2. Will I use some governments adventages if I want to invest in NT?

    3. If you can send me a Darwin link with perfect info, lawers etc as thaivisa.com - Foster's will be on me.

And if some Europeans read that - how can I get cheaper from Europe to Darwin? Preferable from Istanbul or Athens but other advices are OK /as with Royal Brunei from London/. I know how to reach Darwin from BKK.

  9. tourists having free sex could be arrested.

But paying for it is perfectly exceptable ??? :D

    :D:D:D:D TIT

    Correct ! :D:D:D

That's why if someone takes money for sex should have a cash register. In my country we have such a law and it says also: "the client should ask for a receipt and keep it until the leave of the ponit of transaction"! So - no free sex=higher tax incomes :D Problem could appears latter - if you keep the receipt longer and SHE has found it in your pocket... image her face while she's reading the services you have got... :o

However - if I have a valid receipt for getting not free sex service - will be legal?

  10. The US Constitution's "All men are created equal" is a nice idea, but just that, an idea, as clearly, not all people are created equal.

All men are equal. Its just that some of us are more equal than others. :D

:D Old communist rule! Rule N1! So - EU accepted new members former East countries. So far, so good. But former more equals are again equal to EU standarts /and more :D /, other one equals aint equal even to a EU beggar :o

  11. Guys, is there any bowling place in BKK???

Not sure if you are a yank or not.

Anyway what I call bowling, not ten pin bowling - my father comes to Bangkok every year, sometimes twice and he is, due to being an old codger(67), very keen on bowling. The only place we can get a game, that I know of, is at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club, Polo club annexe. You do however need to be a member or know a member.

The only restaurant in town that does not allow mobile phones, great!

Anyway, I prefer this original bowling to the to the US version, as it is more more skillful.

    Thanks for all your answers!

Neeranam, I meant 10 pin bowling. Once I tryed "english" bowl on a field in RSA. Then I lost my self-respect and 2 beer dozens. But for 10 pin bowl... :o

And if there are some Sat/Sun 10 pin parties... :D

  12. We are a Bulgarian company which has two years experience in export from Thailand to Eastern Europe. Now our intentions are to set a Thai limited company. In our opinon there are some very good opportunities for improting in Thailand of:

    1. Cosmetics /very high quality, more of them are made in French standarts and licences/

    2. Juices /these that miss on Thai market as apple, pear, carrot etc juices/

    3. Wine /Bulgarian red brands, well known all over the world/

Therefore we are looking for partners who are able to assist us in distributing of these goods as well partners who are familiar with Thai import rules and customs. For further questions please, send me a PM here, or write me at:

    [email protected]

Also we are widely open for all Thai export opportunities and for all your offers /at the moment we are interested in various summer clothings as t-shirts, blouses etc/. We are able also to sell these goods in Macedonia and Serbia.

    Regards:

    Martin Michev

  13. I am not a specialist - but - last two years we have been exporting some goods from Thailand. Our Thai partners are fixed their prices in USD. Of course - for larger amounts we have discounts. It's OK for us because we sell these goods in Euro.

Lately I buy cheaper and cheaper USD :D At the moment exchange rate in Thailand is 1 $ = 41.64 B for 1 Euro = 52.54 B /26% margin/. In my country for 1 Euro I buy 1.30 USD /30% margin/! One item I buy for 1 USD and I sell it for 1 Euro - it makes me happy :o Two years ago it was 1 Euro = 1.10 USD.

Here is the Thai opinion on the topic:

A HARD look at the euro currency, which will be introduced on Jan 1, shows that it will be as volatile against the baht as other major currencies and provide equal risks and opportunities for Thai businesses.

Speaking at a symposium on ''The Role of the Euro'', organised by the Bank of Thailand last week, Therapong Monthienvichienchai, regional head of foreign exchange and derivatives and private banking of Deutsche Bank AG, Singapore, said over the past five to six months the euro had been quoted at Bt41-Bt48.

He said this range reflected the volatility of the currency that is set to challenge the dominance of the US dollar and the Japanese yen.

''The euro is stable only when it is taken into account by the member European Union countries. But outside the EU membership, it carries high risk. So investors need to take extra caution,'' he said.

At present, there is no direct euro/baht quote on the trading screens in the banks' dealing rooms, neither is there any yen/baht quote. To arrive at the euro/baht rate, dealers will match the euro/US dollar rate with the dollar/baht rate before determining a crossing rate of the euro/baht. This computing technique is similarly applied with the yen/baht quote.

However, Therapong believed that the euro will have a good prospect of challenging the US dollar as the world's currency because it is likely to be a strong currency.

''We've got an impression that the euro is likely to be managed like the Deutschemark by the Bundesbank. This is because the European Central Bank, which will be independent from political pressure, will follow the model of the Bundesbank of Germany,'' he said.

It is difficult to paint a picture of the euro in the first six months of its existence because nobody knows about the portfolio adjustments of the European central banks and other international hedge funds.

But Tharit Panpiemraj, a senior official of the Bank of Thailand's banking department, believed that the euro will be a relatively stable currency in the first half of next year, making some gains against the dollar or the yen.

He added that the European Central Bank will try to create confidence in the euro for it to become an international currency and reserve currency of other central banks.

''Investors will have more confidence in the euro because the economy of Europe will achieve stability and low inflation,'' he said. ''Low inflation can guard the value of the currency. The European Central Bank is likely to bring inflation under control, targeting it at below 2 per cent.''

There will be room for the role of the euro to expand as the EU moves on to develop its capital market, whose size is about 75 per cent of the US market's, according to a Bank of Thailand report.

Moreover, most of the European capital markets are largely dominated by government bonds. The EU will attempt to use the euro as an international currency to do trade and investment with other European countries and the rest of the world, hence directly challenging the US dollar as the international currency.

US exports account for 13 per cent of the world's trade. The dollar is used as a medium for as much as 48 per cent of international transactions, the Bank of Thailand report shows. Central banks also keep as much as 57.1 per cent of their foreign exchange reserves in dollars.

The EU, together with Britain which is not among the launch countries of the euro, account for 31 per cent of world's exports and their currencies are used in 31 per cent of all international currency transactions.

But the popularity of their units as reserve currencies trails the dollar, accounting for a combined 17.8 per cent.

  14. I'm a photojournalist and wondering what is the procedure for obtaining an M Visa?

Is there anybody who knows something about it?

A few days ago I put in a wrong forum the same question. It sounds as:

How can I get some more info about "Non-Immigrant visa "M"? In thaivisa.com the only info is:

    "Non-Immigrant visa "M"

The Non-Immigrant Visa "M" is for foreigners working for/in the media (press, radio, TV).

Normally it requires license for Massmedia work."

OK - I have own business, but I'm also a journalist and 99% of all Thai topics in my country are written by me. Believe me - all positive :o

    I have a non-immigrant B, but I'm interested which one is better "B" or "M" visa? Indeed - what's "M" visa??? What for a license should I have?

  16. just shoot anything that look like rebel muslim

Before they get tooled up can you tell us what they look like?

    1. They carry AK47-s

    2. They have long greysh beards.

    3. From their left/right pocket stick up some wires.

    4. They have for sure turbans.

    5. When they meet each other they say Allah akkbar.

    6. When they are in Izrael and look as above described they have been shot dead in seconds.

    7. When they are in Izrael and haven't been shot dead CNN transmits live a blast.

  17. Their target are public schools, Buddhist temples, railway, postoffice, police, practically any government related organisation.

South Thailand situation is different from the international conflicts like Afghanistan or Iraq. South Thailand is a conflict of Islam with ThaiBuddhism, and not with Christianity.

    Johann

    Agree with your opinion.

    But:

When muslims understand that atacking government related organisation doesnt take effect what do you think they will do? What you think - why they kill tourist in Egypt? Terorists's explanation - hit the tourism - one of the main budget items, there will be a crisis - and weak covernment...

The worst tnik is that I am not sure if Thai muslims know what they want. Own republic? Or to be Malays? Am sure if you ask a Malay muslim living near Thai border if he wants to be a Thai - he'll answer - yes.

Unfortunately - I'm little bit pessimistic... What was the epxplanation of this year bombs in Istanbul? Muslims killed muslims because they hadn't liked Brits and Americans... and Turkish government... Do you see any logic?

  18. Duh!

    Won't people fill up before 10pm? :o

    Of course they will,

but logical thinking is beyond the scope of the goverment minsters!!

    1. I WILL fill up my tank before 10 pm even if I do not need petrol.

    2. Are there some tax discounts for the cars with natural gas-systems?

    3. Curfews.. no petrol after 10 pm, no bars, no TV.. no.. no... It could be easier - a total curfew - no pepople in the streets after 10 pm! And the electricity shuts down automaticlly at 10.30 pm... If you get cought in 10.01 pm outside - fine...B 10 000... see - low electricity&petrol consumption... the budget - filled up with fines.. :D

Some people should read Orwell's "1984"...
