  1. I was playing football at the Samui Arena at 810pm when the lights went out. Strangely, across the other side of the road all the power was ok, but out all along the same side of the road as the football arena.

Then driving home, there were random little pockets of blackouts all along the route. After living here a few years now Im quite used to which areas are on which part of the grid, and where the boundaries are from area to area. I've never seen it like it is/was tonight.

Luckily we are ok at home (Ghost Road area), which is quite a nice surprise as we are normally the 1st to lose power.

    Shh!!

I live just a few doors from you !

  2. Sue,

i have been through this nightmare myself a few years ago.

There is no way around it, you would be better off going to the UK on a temp passport & getting a new one there. ( When it happened to me Bangkok issued new passports).

Also, get a new visa there too, you cannot transfer your visa here, it is lost forever, Do you have photocopies of the visa page??

My experience cost in excess of 40k Baht.

Give me a call tomorrow, i'll tell you all about it....

  3. A few years back i was selling a bike. Yam 250, a guy calls & says he is driving from Singapore to Bangkok so could i get on the ferry & meet him at Donsak pier for him to check it out.

As i wasn't busy then i said ok & duly went at the agreed time.

The guy turned up, checked the bike over & had a ride around the car park. He then gave me 10,000 Baht deposit (20% of the price) & said he would call to arrange payment & collection.

Never heard from him again!! 10K to me, thank you very much.

  4. It all depends on the water pump you have(power consumption), do you really need to pump water during a power outage?

If you plan to take a hot shower during a power outage , these generators won't be enough, you need to have a look at 6KW and preferably diesel generators.

Not if you have stored hot water. The one Spindle is interested in will cope with the demand.

Definitely go for the electric start, trying to start by hand in the heat & dark is no fun at all.

Even better is one with an auto transfer switch so you don't have to lift a finger. But, $$$$$..

  5. Crikey. I have obviously been away from the UK for too long. ermm.gif

What the heck is that Boater? crazy.gif

So - if I go back to England - rent a bike and just drive on the wrong side. Yes? whistling.gif

It's in Hemel Hempstead. Known locally as the majic roundabout.

You treat it like a series of mini ones, you can go either way round..

  6. I don't think anywhere on Samui can do it. You could try Steve at The Hut (Ghost rd) he may know of somewhere to sent it

Hey Man. Is that Steve the guy that does spray jobs? If so, have heard lots of praise for his work.

    It is mate.

    VocalNeal, yes Samui.
