  1. I am not sure if it is the correct name but they certainly weave leaves together to build a nest. They are light brown to yellow and very agressive and I am sute that they can jump to attack you. I have been awayy a long time from my house and now I see plenty see several of there nests in a small garden plot we have. When I feel brave I have cut the nest down and thrown it over the wall (not to the neighbor) but there are plenty left and I am to afraid to venture inte the bushes to search for more nests.

Does anyone have any bright ideas of how to get rid of them or make them move, they  are not wellcome here.

  2. Are there any busses that go directly from one or the other airports in Bangkok to Hua Hin? Since we are flying in to Bangkok and we have a choice of any of the airports, It would be nice to be able to catch a bus directly at the airport instead of having to go to Mochit or any other busdepot. Preferable a regular bus instead of minibus due to Covid.

An alternative would be some kind of taxiservice. All answers are appreciated.

  3. You need two types of insurance. One is a general health insurance and if you can get a 90-day travel insurance it would probably do. Are you planning to stay on 90 days?

Second you need to Covid-insurance that specifically covers up to US 100.000 for Covid related costs. This insurance you can buy online from Thai insurance companies. If you use Google you will find a list of these companies.

Your travel insurance might cover Covid and in this case you do not need one extra insurance.

Do not forget that the insurance must cover the whole period of stay!

  4. I have had exactly the same problems as the thredstarter and once I actually went to the emergency room at a nearby hospital and asked for help to stop the bleading on my upper lip.

Now I have brought antihemorrhagic cotton from my homecountry.

  5. The Amphoe refuses to issue a birthcertificate on the grounds that none of the parents are Thai. There is a birthrecord from the hospital naming both parents. Since the child soon will be registered as Swedish the father will be able able to get official Swedish records stating him as the father.

Can his Lao common wife go the same way to get a visa for Thailand as dependant of him?

  6. This is about a friend of mine. He is Swedish and has been living in Thailand for many years, extension of stay based on retirement. He lives in Nong Khai with a Lao woman, They have had a village marriage in Lao, but nothing official since this is more or less impossible for Lao women. His "wife" does not have a visa for Thailand and just goes in and out as many Lao people do. Now they have had a child, born in Nong Khai and his first problems started when he applied for a Swedish passport to the child. Problem was that the local Ampoe in Nong Khai refused to issue a certificate of his Fatherhood, they only do that if one of the parents are Thai. And if he cannot prove that he is the father, no passport. Now after months of discussions with Swedish authorities the child will be given a Swedish passport thus becoming a Swedish citizen, which brings me to the big question. Can this Swedish child, living in Thailand, be given a visa as being depending of him? Obviously they cannot make references to the mother since she is not Thai and staying in the Kingdom more or less illegally.

What should his next step be?

  7. Anyone who knows where to get a nice free calender to put on the wall? The ones my wife brought home are very ugly and of poor quality. I think that Banks probably have better ones. Any idea of which bank I should go to? Or car dealer or beer brewery? I have been to bookstores but the do not have any calenders for sale at all.

  8. 1, The payment voucher should be enough.

    2) If the shop will not issue receipts you should take your business somewhere else.

3)Of course your year-end figures should be documented on paper and contain Balance sheet, Profit & Loss ac. General ledger and list of vouchers.

  9. Who is supposed to be allowed to park in these special disabled parking spaces. I am not thinking about rich people in supercars but those who really are disabled. In my homecountry, Sweden, one would go to the Social services and apply for a permit and they would give you a special sticker to put in your car to show that you are allowed to park in the special disabled parking zones.

Is there a simular system in Thailand and where would you go in that case.

  10. From the Kasikorn website (http://www.kasikornbank.com/EN/Personal/BankAccounts/Fixed/Pages/HappySeniorFixedDeposit.aspx):

    Required documents for account opening
    • A copy of national ID card or other card with a photo issued by competent government authorities
    • A copy of house registration certificate

No mention of a work permit there. Try printing off the page and showing to them. It's an approach that's worked for me in the past in similar circumstances.

(The Thai version of the page is at http://www.kasikornbank.com/TH/Personal/BankAccounts/Fixed/Pages/HappySeniorFixedDeposit.aspx )

I have one Happy Senior Av and they did not ask for any work-permit. What they did ask for was a Tax account number, which I got from Ampoe.

  11. I am outside Thailand for the moment but will go to Udon Thani later this month. Met a guy who told me that the swimming-pool at KP was closed for repairs. I was a bit surprised because I now it was renovated just a few yars ago. Since we are planning to stay at this hotel for a couple of days it would be nice tknow if the pool is open or not.
