edit: here ya go Mr Lazybones. It's true! April 17th. :o

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Thai-Banks-S...it-t255263.html

Due to the large movement of new topics and ongoing thread information.

Is it possible to allow a bit of understanding towards those who have for one reason or another failed to see or locate a similar topic.

It doesn,t take much to just post a ref. url in a courteous way, not that this one is meant to be discourteous in any way but it highlights others ( thanks to the smiley and :D GD )

Some other members tend to be more acidic and sarcastic towards our membership.

Come on fellow members, let,s have a bit of understanding and friendlier responses to those who inadvertantly fail to be up to speed on the forum.

    Thank you

  2. Thailand is trying everything in its power to disuade foreigners from coming here.

Mind you, thats quite a wack, 150 baht, more than most countries.

    Ernest

Yeah, it is a conspiracy. The Banks sit down with the government in smoky back rooms and work out ways to stick it to the poor defenseless farang. Diddums

Get over it. You clearly have no idea about economics.

The banks are charging it cause they are betting that people will pay it regardless, and that they won't go away. How is it in a banks interest to drive away clientele?

They are betting that Mr Sextourist Jones and Mr BarStool Davies are going to go the the bank, and like always, pull out their money, and that this fee, while in the beginning an irritant, they'll quickly get used to paying.

And you will get used to paying it. And you won't leave Thailand, will you?

of course i will. Thailand's xenophobia -enhanced by the new withdrawal fee- has become unbearable. i will therefore put tomorrow our house and our cars on the market. asking 26.5 million Baht cash down. house without contents though! anybody interested should make up his mind fast. no dilly-dallying or tire kickers accepted, first come first served!

    :o

This has what to do with the thread apart from letting everyone know you have a few bahts worth of whatever.

  3. Mark have been giving stupid excuses, for 2 weeks, that he is working outside the office, hence does not need to return to his office, AND NOT BECAUSE the Red are there. Let's see what excuses will have give today. Call in sick?

The present P.M. " Mark " as you wish to call him, unlike the previous 3 pm.s is trying to keep peace, rather than incite further unrest and possible violent reactions, via an arrogant stance we are all familiar with

He rightly and wisely chooses to communicate via diplomacy and a low profile.

In doing so he is demonstrating genuine care for Thailand and it,s subjects as apposed to the phoney rantings of Thaksin

You will note also he does not misuse the media, especially the various dedicated channels on Thai News, and in doing so manipulate the situation and the reasons there of.

The only one sick and in urgent need to call in, as he is obviously in a serious mentally deficient state, is the nutter running the red show from exile.

    Thank you

  4. Thaksin's daughter cries: I want dad to be home

Paetongtarn Shinawatra, a daughter of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, wept during an event to launch her book, saying she wants her dad to return to Thailand and stay home with her.

Paetongtarn, Pintongta and Pantongtae Shinawatra, the three children of Thaksin, took part in a public event at the book fair at the Queen Sirikit's Convention Centre to launch their book, titled "Others call him PM, but we call him dad".

When asked to say her feeling towards Thaksin, Paetongtarn said with tears in her eyes that she would like Thaksin to return to Thailand to be home with three siblings.

"I would like to hug him and tell him that there is no place like home in Thailand," Paetongtarn said.

Pintongta said if she could wind back time, she wish her dad would not have entered politics.

    The Nation

The only place he should go if he returns to Thailand is the B.Hilton to serve out his sentence and go before the courts to answer the other 12 or so alleged charges awaiting his homecoming.

Talk about sickening extracting of the urine / justice system, but then again their kind do not think the law applies to them and they are above it.

Thank you for the edit, MiG16, I.ll remember to make sure I insert an end of quote in the future.

  5. Hey All,

Well I have a problem on my hands and wanted to see if anyone on here has ever had something similar happen or have any advice for me.

    So here is the deal:

I have been with my girlfriend for like 4 years now and love her to bits. Problem is I like to have fun on the side when I am out here and there.

About 2 years ago I met this other girl and it was always good fun to call her up and go out with her and her friends when I was away from the gf.

I enjoyed calling the girl on the side because well the sex was great and she has many hot friends whom I have cheated on the girl ont the side with. Funny thing is that she found out was seriously pissed, faught her friend but still was ok with staying with me. Over time I kept calling her and it developed a little more into what started to seem to me like a relationship rather then just good old fun.

Now the girl on the side has told me that she is about 2 month pregnant and to be honest I am pretty freaked out about it. I was planning on proposing to the gf but I have no clue what to do in this situation.

The thing is I love the gf like crazy and cant imagine my life without her. I know I am the idiot for cheating on her in the first place. Does anyone on here have any ideas on what I can do in the mess I have gotten myself in?

The one thing I hope that she will forgive me for the cheating part, not sure how the Thai girls look at this type of stuff but when I think about it I did cheat on the girl on the side a couple of times with her frineds and she is still here.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Urgent memo

DNA test to confirm you are actually the father

    thank you

Let us know the results please and if congratulations or whatever are in order.

    Lifetime bans for Gers duo

Ban shock for Scottish duo following inquiry over conduct

By Elliot Ball Last updated: 3rd April 2009

    Ferguson & McGregor: Banned

    Gers punish Ferguson

Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor have been banned from ever representing Scotland again, while Rangers have suspended the pair for a fortnight without pay.

The news comes after an internal club inquiry into the players' conduct over the last week while on international duty with Scotland.

An SFA spokesman said: "In light of the events of the past 48 hours and following further discussions between the national team manager and the chief executive, it has been decided that Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor will no longer be considered for international selection by Scotland.

"This action has been taken in the best interest of the squad, the fans and the country.

    Hard line

"We are determined to qualify for the World Cup and we must ensure that nothing is allowed to distract us from achieving this goal."

Midfielder Ferguson - who has been stripped of both club and country captaincy - and goalkeeper McGregor were called into a meeting with Gers Chief Executive Martin Bain at Murray Park on Friday, before Bain gave his verdict on the club's official website.

He said: "The overall conduct of the players during the last week while on Scotland duty has, regrettably, fallen considerably short of standards expected by Rangers Football Club and our supporters and has brought the Club into disrepute.

"The management of the Club has taken the view that this has damaged both Rangers and Scotland and is unacceptable.

"Even though our Club is entering a critical stage of the league season and the later stages of the Scottish Cup, appropriate disciplinary action was required."

The pair, who were involved in a lengthy drinking session after returning to Scotland from Holland last weekend, before making 'V signs' with their hands during the midweek match against Iceland, were both remorseful of their actions.

    Apologies

Ferguson said: "I deeply regret what happened last weekend and the events during the last week and apologise wholeheartedly for the embarrassment caused to Scotland, Rangers, both sets of supporters and my friends and family.

"I have always considered playing for Rangers and Scotland an honour and a privilege and nothing will change that and I am bitterly disappointed by the announcement that I will not be selected for Scotland again."

McGregor - who made his competitive debut against Holland on Saturday - added: "I was absolutely delighted to be selected for Scotland last weekend and I am deeply sorry over what has happened since then.

"We all make mistakes in life and I am very disappointed to have let Rangers, Scotland, my family, all the fans down.

"I am also desperately disappointed that I will not be selected again for Scotland at this stage in my career."

    Thank you

    Gers punish Ferguson

Weir named new skipper, duo to miss Falkirk game

By Peter O'Rourke Last updated: 3rd April 2009

Gesture: Ferguson on the bench during Scotland's game with Iceland

Rangers have stripped Barry Ferguson of the captaincy in the wake of the controversy on international duty with Scotland.

Ferguson and Allan McGregor were sent home from training on Friday and will not be involved in this weekend's clash with Falkirk.

The pair were dropped by George Burley for Scotland's World Cup qualifier at home to Iceland on Wednesday after being caught in an extended drinking session following the defeat to Holland last weekend.

Both players created more controversy after they were photographed appearing to flick the 'V' sign during Scotland's win over Iceland and for that reason Rangers have decided to punish them.

Gers boss Walter Smith has confirmed Ferguson will not skipper the side anymore with David Weir taking the armband for the rest of the season. He also suggested the club's action was prompted by the gestures made by the former skipper while on the bench during the Iceland game.

"We were unhappy about that situation but that was something for George [burley] to act on," said Smith.

"The more disappointing aspect for us was the subsequent action on the bench on Wednesday night.

"From the club's point of view, that was not a good image to project."

Rumours have suggested Ferguson and McGregor could be transfer-listed by the club and Rangers are set to make a further announcement on the matter later on Friday after a meeting with both players.

    Thank you

  9. Hi all,

I will be in Khon Kaen later this month, and was wondering if there is a good place to get a mri on my neck?

Or should I have it done in bangkok.

also any idea how long to get results?

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris.

Haven't a clue waht MRI is but this hospital does everything. http://www.khonkaenram.com/EN/index.html

MRI =" Magnetic Resonance Imaging ", LB and it is one of our modern day wonders related to medical investigations.

You can go direct to the locally dedicated MRI centre ( ref. my reply to the OP ) without the hospital being involved.

    thank you

  11. Hi all,

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris.

    Hiya c.m.

Tthere is a dedicated MRI centre in K.K.

I have used them on 2 occasions and the service and professionlism was very good indeed.

The price for having your neck scanned is 8,000 THB

Please go to the web site to get additional information ........

    http://www.mrithailand.com/e_contact.html

Look in the right hand column at the Khonkaen PC Imaging Center Co., Ltd site for your relevant area you mention.

    I hope this helps you.

When you know the dates ( if ) you will be in K.K. you can email them any questions you may have and also arrange an appointment before hand.

NOTE:- I recommend an early morning apt. and tell them you are on a tight schedule and need to keep the allotted time you arrange to facilitate other meetings ect.

If you do not, they tend to see others first and could keep you waiting for long periods of time ( Thai times )

Recommended for anyone who wishes to get an insight into what MRI benefits are available along with informative details of the various treatments.

    Thank you

  12. What are the requirements needed to get a visa for one of the above mentioned and how long will it take to get them and the duration of stay permitted.

Bank account, letters and anything else please.

A friend has been offered a job to look after an elderly gentleman but from what information she has been given and shared with me, i find it very suspicious as being kosher, which came from the gentlemans fellow countryman and his Thai wife ?

I,ve been on the website re visa applications ect. but it is in Swedish and i cannot get any further with it.

I can get the English site but when clicking the stuff i think will help her, the language problem kicks in

    Thank you

  13. A friend suggested the AEK Udon Hospital. Does anyone have experience with the dentist there, good or bad? Do they have experience with children?

    Very good.

Dr. Duangporn was recommended by another member to me and i have used her ever since.

She is very good with children, by the way.

    042 342555 Extn.1199

You can assess for yourself by making an appt. and having an initial, no obligation examination.

    Good luck

  14. There's an older British gent in a similar situation that I know of. His wife put his (paid for by him) house/land in hock to my aunt and recently transferred to the property to us without his knowledge. She's since moved back up country (or at least away). Now we have to go through the process of breaking the news to him that he doesn't own his house.

    :o

Judging from earlier posts of his, Heng comes from a well-to-do, if not affluent Thai-Chinese family.

Now at least we know where all this wealth comes from.

    Mike

    "All?" Hardly.

But I do admit that this is one branch of our businesses that is quite recession proof. When things are flush, people overspend and need more financial backing. When the economy is on the rocks, everyone is short and needs a bridge loan. If anything, it's completely clear that so many people have no concept of moderation. The house needs to be just a little bigger even though everyone already fits comfortably under one roof, they want to send the kids to Australia when there are plenty of other regional education choices, they want that top of the line truck when they haven't even paid off their house, etc., etc.

    :D

While realising this is a seperate thread, i think it compliments the one about Breaking up.

Post 25 ref. Heng by the way.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Breaking-Up-...48#entry2617948

I,m seeing a different side to your nature which is intended as a compliment, by the way.

Perhaps we could start a thread about both the ( sensible ) positives and negatives members wish to share relating to past relationships.

Haven,t seen many cynical posts, of which i usually find silly comments and OT observations either.

    Thank you

    Thank you

  15. She has a Left Distal tib-fib fracture (closed). XR L ankle: Undisplaced fracture of the distal fibula; Spiral fracture of the tibia shaft..

    That sounds very serious.

I'm not sure AEK has a orthopedist qualified to handle such an extensive injury. They will say they do, but...

If I was in the same situation as you, I would contact Bumrungrad Hospital: http://www.bumrungrad.com/

She can always come back to Udon to recuperate.

    With due respect.

I gave the AEK Udon hospital reference based on my personal experience relating to a horrific accident my daughter had at school.

Briefly her upper arm bone snapped and was protruding out in an horrific fashion arm, it was not a clean break but shattered.

The specialist concerned is well reknowned as an Orthopedist Surgeon and was trained in the US and worked there over several years.

You may be able to email him direct for his opinion via the AEK web site i posted.

    Dr Pinijv is the specialist.

He reconstructed, pinned and plated her bones back together and 12 months later did the follow up operation to remove them.

It was a complete success and my daughter has no disability what so ever thanks to the brilliant and skilled work of this surgeon.

What a lovely gentleman he is to top his reputation off.

    Thank you

Perhaps, AEK's Orthopedist is a skilled surgeon? I don't know, since I have never needed his services. But, it is good to know, in case I ever do...

I have been 80% satisfied with AEK's service over the years. However, I have never needed the services of a specialist at AEK until recently...

My comment: ' They will say they do, but...', had to do with my recent gastrointestinal problems.

I don't want to take this thread off topic by writing about my recent gastrointestinal problems. So, sheff_mick, if you are interested in my experience at AEK in regard to my gastrointestinal problems. PM me and I will reply with my experience.

Hopefully the OP has got his girlfriends medical issues sorted out.

No sarcasm intended MJ on my reply re the specialist.

Why not open a new thread and share your experience with our membership to enable everyone to benefit and learn somwthing from it.

Thanks MJ for bringing the gastrointestinal problems up.

I alway use the hospital as a rule and recently was treated for the dreaded Degue Fever...no complaints that i can justify on this experience either.

It,s always best to know both the positives and the negatives and i,m with you on this one re awareness ect.

The more members share the better from my point of view.

    Thank you

  16. I'm presently living in the UK with my wife and have lost touch with the latest visa info. Is there any advantage to be gained in having a Thai partner (and dependent) when applying for a long term visa for Thailand? I have heard friends speak of a 'marriage visa' but think they are mis-informed.

    Thanks.

Being in the UK and being able to apply for a Non O Imm Visa Multi Entry from Hull is pretty easy anyway, but generally it will help anyone wanting the above Visa.

Being married to a Thai will enable you to apply for 12 month extensions of stay from Thai Immigration.

    The Extension requirements.

2.18 In the case of a family

member of a Thai(applicable only to parents, spouse, child, adopted child or child

    of his/her spouse):

    Permission will be

    granted for a period of

not more than 1 year at a time.

    (6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

But an extension by marriage visa is not a walk in the park, search the board for the apparently ridiculous 'extra' requirements various Thai immigration demand on a whim, bit like getting a Visa for a Thai person at UK Embassy.

An honest common sense approach SB

Just clicked your monicker instead of the post in case your wondering why i visited your site, wonder how many others do this from time to time ?

    Thank you

  17. I figure 100k a month should qualify you for 95% of the women here in Thailand. Try to earn some more.

Sorry, I don't enter relationships that are based on money.

If you are based in the land of money trees and ATM over use, you sadly have to live in isolation regarding the providing of funds required to start and keep a relationship happy.

No slight on the ladies by he way, our cultures relating to love are different Western vs Thai

Seems to me going on the OP you,ve done more than enough to support your affections and sadly as i and many others have experienced, it is time to move out and move on.

( In my case 3 And i was fool enough to think each was different )

( Based on your income and also providing a monthly income for the family ect that has produced F.A. for your efforts )

It hurts that,s for sure, but she will never be satisfied and will always be chasing the BBD`S

Your self esteem will be taking a hefty blow at the present time, i hope it can regain some strength in the not to distant future.

Many guys have been lucky to find the woman of their dreams and all the worthwhile pluses that go with it.

Go forward with caution my friend, the next time around and keep your pecker up.

    Thank you

  19. Greetings and Salutations!

I am in need of help.. My GF is from Udon Thani and she has just fractured her leg here in singapore. She was discharged yesterday against the doc's advice as we have decided to manage her leg in thailand instead, preferably in Udon where she is from (as being a non-resident here in singapore we would be left with an astronomical bill of about 8000 sgd upwards..)

I would appreciate it if someone with any experience of this type of surgical operation would share with me the costs involved over in thailand..

She has a Left Distal tib-fib fracture (closed). XR L ankle: Undisplaced fracture of the distal fibula; Spiral fracture of the tibia shaft..

Right now she is resting at home with a backslab (half cast) and in a lot of pain..

The best option would be to hurry her back to thailand but i'm still looking for funds to do this operation..

If anyone could help I would have a better idea of how much money I should bring with me over there, right now i'm in a very distressed situation..

    Thanks.

Try the Udonthani web site for the following hospital for a quote relating to your needs. ( AEK Udon Hospital )

    [email protected] or [email protected]

Earmark it for the associate manager Kanjana Suwunnakasem of international services.

    Good luck

    Added info via editing

If she is a locally registered citizen of Udon there is always the Government hospital which incidently uses the same specialist that service the private ones.

If she has a 30 baht medical card then it should all be free op and medication, other than that just medication costs

Not sure if Tiger airlines are still operating a direct flight to Udon from Singers ?

  20. Hiya tlongdon,

I have two as they duplicated posting to me and i carried them in my luggage with the spare one should it be needed.

You can have one with my pleasure.

I will EMS you one today if you PM me an address to send it to before 09.30

If not, later, should you not come online early enough, then i will send it tomorrow

    Thank you

  21. There is no rule. It is either a Nong Kai only thing (nothing is impossible with them) Or it is a misunderstanding

Misunderstanding I'm thinking. A friend renewed his not so long ago without hassle one week in advance of expiry. As per regulations had his 800K in the bank 3 months prior.

A misunderstanding, most likely, but with NK ,not so sure!

Tell you my story next week,AFTER receiving my year stamp in NK. :o

Did my 90 day reporting yesterday and asked if there where any changes from last year relating to 800K rules.

The senior lady officer responded after one of the less senior ladies referred my question to her.

Told non, same as last year and no mention of the O.P,s concerns.

Possibly a mis understanding in the translations by the officer.................... ahem ?

Same as always re my visit by the way.......friendly service and no problems.

Noted they have extended the sitting area and put more seats in place from my last renewal.

No sign of the infamous spectacled one by the way, but his position is still marked with his name card ????

    Thank you

Any updates re the 800K renewal and documentation, by those visiting for this in the future would be appreciated.

  22. Tesco from my experiences of late seem to be putting prices up continually as against reductions on most of their products W. T. Heck ****

WHY haven,t they reduced their costs accordingly.

    ??????

    Thank you

Why should they, if they are happy with the sales they are achieving?

It's not like they have a moral obligation to anybody, except maybe holders of their stock....

    Spoken like a true shop-keeper. :D

    Well put Soundman.

Imported items are a luxury, so people buy them out of desire, not need.

The only gripe people on here seem to have is that the prices are not going down. I doubt it would be sound business practice to drop prices just for the sake of keeping prices in line with current exchange rates. It's more likely that the importers will drop lines which are not moving than lower prices.

When I shop for imported items I don't keep a currency exchange rate history for various countries on me to calculate if the item is overpriced according to recent currency fluctuations in the various countries of product origin. I check the price and decide if my desire for the imported item is in line with the price of the item.

Perhaps OT i know but it expands on the flow of the thread.

I,m referring to everyday items that not only they, but others used the oil increase as a justification to do so.

Tesco need to look at their customer care initiatives they claim to represent.

If you wish to pay their prices then fair enough.

    A Moral Obligation.......

I tend to think that they should have, considering the economical situation as it is here.

Then again i,m, not a rip off merchant / unscrupilous DGAF shop keeper come individual.

Personally being dependant on Imported goods at extortionate prices has long since ceased personally, when i can find tasty local stuff to enjoy.

    Where,s the Somtam :o

    Thank You

  23. When i initially changed from marriage to retirement, i was asked to take photo copies ( only ) of the house papers and a copy of my wifes I.D. card. , with her signature on both copies.

I enquire prior to extending or what ever on the last ninety day visit before hand and then keep an eye on this forum for any late changes from members who have just renewed theirs.

This was at Nong Khai 2 years ago and in all the time i have been dealing with them over several years, i have always had polite and helpful service.

Respect the office they represent, follow the rules and it is usually reciprocated from my experience.

If someone gives you a hard time, smile outwardly and don,t get worked up as this can only create counter productive negativety.

    Thank you
