Personal experience, I drove from Pattaya to Chiang Mai yesterday and on the whole,standard of driving was not too bad.

It did seem as if the everybody and there mother was moving around the country though.

If only we could get "lane discipline" sorted then things would be even greater.

And in 11 hours of driving I only saw 2 slight accidents and nothing major.

They dropped the charges - so thats it. Anyone who 'owns a small property in Pattaya' is not entirely 'innocent' - it's not for the culture and the beautiful beach is it? sex rules down there that's it - one big brothel

Thats nearly everyone's opinion outside of Pattaya.

I have worked here for a while now and manage to not get involved with "certain" parts of Pattaya.

Working in the business community, I can tell you that there is a HUGE amount of good work and business being done here.

Unlike Chiang Mia where there is virtually no work

And yes I have been to CNX in fact was there for well over 2 years

Happened to me Thursday night,

On my scooter, followed by two bikes

nearly home, 1 bike starts buzzing me on the inside really close, as I slow down for sleeping policeman he almost touches me saying sorry sorry as I look at him

then 2nd bike grabs chain round neck and rides off.

Tiny chain, not worth much and surprised they could even see it!

Buddha pendant (inside shirt and unseen) fell on ground and they only got a handful of chain again rest fell on ground.

Fortunate that neither I nor g/f on back hurt.

You will also need chest Xray, Blood and Urine tests for the illness on the Works dept list

All the test's required for work permit application cost me 1,100 Baht last year at the small hospital just off the Saturday market street.

Took about 1 hour all in for the tests and collected results and the signed letter from the Doctor.

Without the above signed doctors list  w/p will not be issued.

Have not managed to get English Commentary, as still had time lapse issues.

BUT, with showing both games at the same time on 2 tvs, commentary becomes secondary going on my experience

as most people for the last two nights were "ollering an cheering" for there own teams, awsome occasion and great fun to be involved with.

In case anyone wants to try this out, this is how I did it.

1. To overcome the problem of BBC RadioFive Live being unavailable in Thailand, you need to set up a Virtual Private Network. To do this I subscribed to the following site for 5 pounds a month private network . They give easy instructions to set it up.

2. Connect to Radio Five using your browser and then connect your laptop to your hi-fi using a jack with a lead that has a head-phones jack one end and a two pin audio jack on the other end.

3. The audio is probably out of sync by about 3 seconds. If you can't live with that, here is the fix.

1. you need two computers. Use the first computer to play Radio Five Live and on the second computer, download a radio delay program radio delay.

2. Connect the first computer to the second using a mic to headphnoes jack , which I bought at Panthip for 30 baht. Both ends are a jack that fits into Mic or headphones on your computer. The jack should be connected to headphones socket on the computer playing Radio Five Live and then into Mic socket on the other computer which has Radio delay program running. The second computer should be connected from the Headphones socket to your hi-fi.

3. Select the input source from the Radiodelay program and then select the delay amount ( 3 seconds?). Press play on the Radiodelay program then adjust delay accordingly to sync with the video.

True Hd is about 2 seconds delayed from the Thai tv, so will try this later.

Radio five live not available in Thailand for live matches although the general radio shows are transmitted.

When live stuff is on you just get repeated message that due to local restrictions this portion of the programme not available here.

Most of the Internet stuff is delayed, espn is the main supplier but has a 1 minute plus delay, bowt as much use as a chocolate ashtray.

Fifa basically has shut down virtually every internet live source, any I have tried to sign up to (and have spent money as well!!) has the message, blocked by Fifa until after the world cup.

Nobody much even bothering to go out and some visitors leaving the country early!!

Well it's wrecking the wifes business here in CM (restaurant)

Most of the few visitors that were left have gone to other countries early,

and most of the "expats" are not bothering to go out

If this is nothing but a big scam, and the license certificates are worthless, why don't all the bar owners pool their resources and mass duplicate the licenses certs that have already been paid for? Scan, change the names accordingly, print, frame and hang up. I doubt these people have some way to quickly verify authenticity before you are able to completely sanitize your computer of all music, etc.

The wife had a place on Soi 2 and when she was there last year had 4 visits from the "Music Police" inside 9 months

(Which netted over 250,000 baht if the "victims" figures are to be believed)

She got a license after the first visit into the soi (but not to us at that time) and every time after just showed the correct accepted licence (less than 4,000 baht) and away they went, it is harder if using pc but the downloaded license is same price.

BUT, be warned it is only for Farang music and not Thai music.

Also watch out for them trying to put a thumb drive in your pc as this can load up anything!.

Other places I know,

A: refused to allow access and

B: got the Camera out and took pictures of all the "officers" and the vehicle. they do not like this for some reason!! and usually leave.

However, for piece of mind just get the licence, it is extremly easy and can be done online in about 2 days
