  1. I live in China and we don't have to do any reporting if we travel for a few days *with the exception* of staying at a hotel.  Hotels do report your whereabouts to the police and if you move house you must report this to the police within 30 days.  Only certain hotels can cater to us and this sometimes causes problems but the reason isn't exactly what you think.  The software used for reporting our location is specialized while the standard software used in hotels only accepts Chinese ID cards and not Passport numbers which can differ in length.  Essentially the rule here is if you move permanently report it and if you are traveling make sure there is a friend you can stay with or the town has a bigger hotel.  We never see a form when we travel it is entirely handled by the hotel.

  2. So he was using the internet to sell weed from Holland to willing buyers and it is legal over there to do so.  None of this weed ever was shipped to Thailand nor did it ever touch Thailand soil.  But he made lots of money doing this and obviously wasn't sharing his good fortune adequately with the surfeit of local officials that felt entitled to a share.  Guilty as charged - case closed.

Marrying officially for the purpose of the extension of stay is not an optimal choice. In the end, the Elite visa may be a much smarter choice.

I echo this - the elite visa option is far less expensive if a divorce ever occurs especially if your girl ever gets access to the UK or EU courts.  All she has to do is visit one of these, show your child and file and she would unload a world of hurt on you.  There are many Thai friends who will provide her very specific legal advice on how to do this so be mindful.  Remember marriage in her eyes is a business transaction and going after assets is just something any business person would do.  Now it may be more difficult than what I outlined as I am not familiar with EU/UK law but these laws also can and do change.  You don't know how easy it will be for her to go to the UK to divorce ... in ten years ... you only know now and the laws just get worse for men not better.

  4. So a technical recruiter I've been working with, a gorgeous young blond, called me up and said "Great news!  I've got 2 openings for you!"  I immediately answered in my most salacious voice "I know... ????  " there was a pause for a minute then she just sighed and said "<deleted>" and I said 'Actually I prefer the other one"

My Brit wife dumped me age 52, proclaiming I would never have sex with a woman again now she didn't want me.

Came to Thailand to get away from women ....... flight was cheap ....... when I got here I realised I had made a mistake.

But at least the 40+ much younger women I banged while out here proved my Brit wife totally wrong.

And even though I paid most of them, they all showed me more love and affection than my Brit wife of 30 years.

Not seen the 4 Brit kids since I left over 10 years back.

Oldest daughter (30+ )came out to Chiang Mai to see me, I didn't reply or meet her.

Oldest son (30+) sent me a photo of his recently born daughter, I blocked him.

They both sided with her during the divorce, I've got no time for traitors.

I also sent the Brit wife a postcard photo of the woman I moved in with (half her age, half her weight and twice as pretty), with the word 'thanks' written as the message.

You can't see me doing this but I am standing in front of computer clapping loudly in your honor.  You're my new hero.  Sorry about your children though, that's tragic.  Still - standing ovation.

  6. I'm from Panama and if you look at the visa map of S.E. Asia you see visa on arrival, e-visa online, visa exempt for 30 days, and a big dark hole with ADVANCED VISA REQUIRED where Thailand is.  I can literally go to any other country that borders Thailand without any sort of major fuss.  China is easier for me to visit.  It didn't used to be that bad but lately the paperwork requirements have gotten extreme and worse I now must pay for everything in advance, receipts required for accommodation, and if they say no all monies are lost.  This is new and obviously not the experience of everyone.  If you're from England or Canada or such you still get your visa on arrival or visa free access but for those who say there hasn't been a change .. yes... yes there has been and its now much harder to visit.  This is part of a trend.

This being said replacing Westerners with poor Indians who are much more likely to go on overstay IMHOP isn't going to change this trend they'll just make it harder for everyone else.

Immediately after the numbers are announced there must be a tel traffic overload. They discuss why they did not win although the numbers came from the new license plate of the sister of the neighbours husband etc...
This goes on for hours and then when you think all is said, a new strategy is set in motion how they will choose the next numbers.
They always loose money but never loose faith that the next lottery round will finally be the big jack pot!

You think its bad now wait until casinos are allowed to open up.  They may be Thai owned but only the Thais that do own them will own anything.

  8. Her situation is completely understandable.  As the government has told us many times there is no prostitution in Thailand therefore she had to pay a fee and fly to South Africa to do this kind of work.  Now she is likely a little embarrassed and doesn't want the whole of the Kingdom to think ill of her.  Oh if only there was a more modern mindset here rather than the present one where all Thai women wait until being married to lose their virginities and of course only ever sleeping with their husbands.  Someday... someday...

  9. Yes you are lucky in fact so lucky that you should really consider sharing this good fortune.  Rather than claim the prize yourself go ahead and provide your Ex-wife's banking information making sure to include as much detail as possible.

Does these tests apply only to farangs, or do they require the same tests for the locals? Just curious.

Falangs only as everyone knows Syphillis is only carried by foreigners.  When the Syphillis bacteria encounters a Thai national the bacillus can be seen in the microscope bending together the two upper portions of its outer membrane to form a 'Wai' then it immediately self destructs leaving 2 satang behind for the inconvenience.  Because Thailand.  And Science.

  11. I had gastric bypass done way back in 2001, not in Thailand.  I was in my 30's.  I went from 150 Kg down to 95 kg over the course of 18 months.  I had other surgeries in Thailand to remove excess skin and fat that wouldn't go away with dieting (you will have lots of this if your morbidly obese more on this later).

Right after the surgery my biggest problem was drinking enough water.  You become obsessed with eating crushed ice to stay hydrated.  You're stomach is literally the size of a small egg so you'll get full instantly but that won't be a problem because you'll never be hungry for awhile.  Long term effect you won't ever throw up again either - not really or rather its different and much less than you're used too.

I've read a lot about what happens to your body chemistry when this is done but most of what I am going to say is my opinion and not proven.  For me it was true your mileage may vary.  When they do this they remove the part of your digestion system that produces ghrelin - this has been called the 'hunger hormone' and without this I not only felt very full but I also felt energized like I needed to go walk or do exercise.  Sleeping 2-3 hours was difficult because my body simply wanted to burn energy and there were several days when I simply pulled an all nighter without any ill effects.  You drop weight fast but it will take 18 months before you are 'back to normal' and feeling hungry again.  Your body rebuilds a portion of the ghrelin hormone producing tissue that was removed although you'll never feel as hungry again even after not eating for awhile.  Starvation would be easier for me now if that's the way I finally go out.

Negatives - there are bunch even though yes I would absolutely do it again.  In the first year when you start eating you will make a 'mistake' and this will be BAD.  What I mean is you will swallow something quickly (like you used too) and this drops into your little stomach and gets stuck.  This brings on a feeling of wanting to vomit ... but you can't.  And this is agonizing.  Saliva will pour from your mouth like you're a rabid dog and you will pray for the sweet release of being able to throw up... buy you can't.  And this will go on for 20 minutes, 30 minutes... longer depending on how bad of a mistake you made.  Basically the saliva needs to wash down your throat and slowly dissolve whatever it is you swallowed and eventually it will slip down into your lower g.i.   Bread I found was the worst and so for a long time I stopped eating it.  This problem doesn't last forever but you are looking at 12 - 18 months of it so be warned.  Can you smartly not make mistakes and doge this bullet?  Sure.  Of course what will trigger it is just doing what you normally used to do and it is very easy to accidentally forget to chew everything up into a fine liquid (which is the only way to prevent this).

If you want other info please PM me as I could go on for pages and I don't want to clog the board.
