  1. Been trying to book the Areca Lodge from mid September but fully booked up. Thought it was supposed to be dead in Patatya!

Give diana-oasis.com a try. They are always busy, but with some luck....??? Have a nice vacation! JL. :)

  2. Oh, that is exactly what I was afraid of. Is there a Pattaya eye doctor I could go to that could be trusted not to oversell major procedures?

in short....NO....go to rutnin eyeh hospital off shukumvit in bangkok. easy to find. great & correct service! no unneeded traetments and surgery.

this goes also for other treatments. don't trust anybody!

  3. Today I was able to book a flight for November '09 on Cebu Pacific from BKK to CRK (Clark) on their website using a Visa credit card from the USA.

Last January I tried doing this and the website would not accept my card. I discovered from reading online that this was a common problem.

It looks like they have finally corrected the problem. I did call my credit card company before booking to warn them a charge was coming through and that they should not decline it if indeed the problem was on the credit card end instead of Cebu Pacific. At any rate, the charge was accepted and CP confirmed the purchase.

A one-way ticket BKK to CRK Clark including all taxes and fees was Bt3,912 including a Bt150 charge for an assigned seat. Depart BKK at 15:25 arrive CRK 19:40. Return schedule is CRK 12:20 arrive BKK 14:35.

Unfortunately any kind of service, re-booking, refund etc. is either none-existent or a total rip-off! I avoid if I can to fly with them. Have been screwed several times, so have many friends.... DD

  4. Arrived 16.00 and got through immigration & custom's quickly. Stepping out from customs sliding door I heard whispers, whistling from above. About 20 guys on the railing above with small red signs....Pattaya, Bangkok...."cheap taxi".....

Also I had my driver waiting, I gave it a try and went upstairs to be greeted by the usual touts trying to sell me a ride to Pattaya. So much for the crackdown! Driving out of the airport we noticed several taxis and private cars parked with drivers along the highway, waiting for customers? So, still plenty of cheap transportation available.....

    TIT! JL. :)

  5. Hi there! Anybody out there with a wife, girlfriend or so, who would like to work in a very nice place Oasis-Restaurant / diana-oasis.com with a very friendly young team and good hands-on lady manager?

Just trying to help out, they had some trouble with the cook lately and maybe in this forum there might some motivated people.

It is a daytime operation and a good chance for somebody to learn about European food, but must be good at Thai Food!

Please call Kh. Meow @ <snip>

Thank you to all! JL (a customer) :)

  6. Before you start, you need to get your normal base blood hormone levels measured: testosterone, oestrogen, and FSH. Once done, check on internet and find out if they are in normal range. It may be that your testosterone levels are at the lower end of the normal range, or just outside it. In which case try the treatment. But if your blood hormone levels are already well within normal normal range, don't bother. You are wasting your money and, medically, it could cause some serious medical problems, whatever anyone else may tell you.

If you decide to go ahead, after about three months, have your blood hormone levels measured again. You should find that the testosterone levels have gone up - but also the oestrogen. Ther FSH level should do go down. It is very important to regularly measure hormone blood levels, if you are going to start hormone treatment to ensure they stay within range. They will do it for you at Pattaya International hospital, or Bumrunggrad in Bangkok.

The problem is that there is an aromatising enzyme that converts testosterone to oestrogen, and in some men it is more prominent. You could start developing some female characteristics. It will also speed up balding, unless yo are taking proscar, and there are other possible problems.

    1. Get your own Testosterone levels checked. They fluctuate massivley, depending on many factors: Normal Range: 250ng/dl to 850 ng/dl.

    2. Then check your PSA to make absolutely sure you have no Prostate Cancer, since Testosterone is the "Food" that makes the cancer grow!!! I am sure any responsible Doctor will tell you this point first & immediately!

    3. You might still wanna try to influence your energy levels (testosterone levels) with sports and healthy lifestyle, drinking is one of the worst factors!

    4. Regular Testosterone injections will have side-effects and can be dangerous, they require constant follow up and monitoring. You will get moody and aggressive, as well as tired and depressed, depending on the point of cycle you are in.

    5. Off course most of the Doctors in Thailand will happily inject you. They get a dose (good for 14-30 days...) of Depot Testosterone for about 150 baht and will sell it to you from 8---1200!!! You wanna save buy it yourself in the known pharmacies in Pattaya/Bangkok!

You are playing with your health/life! Few Doctors will be able to explain you all the possible dangers!

    Good luck! JL.

If it is well controlled, it's worth trying.

Just adding to what Jessy mentioned...

:) Yes it could cause some serious medical problems, such as Long-term-Mental-Disorder, types of Cancer. That's why it's a control medicine... You should not have it injected unless the testosterone level is too low, and with doctor recommendation!

Seriously Though, my grandpa get it injected, and he has to take extra treatment coz he's got too much of it... :D It doesnt look too good at all, weeks in hospital...

    :D Good Luck too all!

  7. It looks to me that the world is slowly waking up to the many negative factors ("things wrong") in this amazing land of smiles. I have never seen so many critical reports/articles/comments in reputable publications as during the last 18 months. There is plenty of better destinations for somebody to spend his vacation. JL.

  8. Unfortunately it has become an integral part of the Thai/Tourist society to openly demand tips. I get comments all the time, if i leave "only" 20 Baht for a 50 Baht cup of coffee. For good service I feel 10-15% is adequate. But let's be honest, when do we receive good service in any place in Thailand/Pattaya? Most of the staff are unqualified, lazy, have an attitude and they hardly know their own menu. Compared to the US, Philippines and many other places, Thais hardly ever deserve a tip. But these days even the staff at the dentist's office opens their hands. Amazing, but true!

They don't even realize how they piss off most of us! JL

  9. there is secured parking just at the main pier, behind the cashier's booth. cheap and never had any problems leaving my bike there for some days. the main pier is opp. 7/11, not the "Malibu" pier a few hundreds meter before you get there or the other big pier where the buses leave. JL.

  10. much rather some old bikers, dressed in leather and usually very nice people, than the average pattaya low life roaming the streets topless showing off their disgusting beer bellies and vulgar tattoos...

    :) JL.

  11. Urgently looking for quality Beach Buggy Kit or possible ready to go Buggy. Preferably with Porsche or similar engine. Looking for top of the line model! Any advise where to start looking. Google did not produce much. Thanks to all. JL.

  12. packed with pattaya's cheap charlies as of today.....great....stay away.....! and then some free pork and fried rice.....with some luck without ordering a drink....knew somebody who kept asking for a glass of water at the birthday bars (pl. no bottle) and actually got it every time...some lifestyle! jl.

  13. I've been looking around serviced apartments in the Naklua area today. A few good finds but a bit over my budget. Can anybody recommend something in the B15,000 per month range? Looking for 3-4 months rental, maybe more. I need parking, internet and ideally close to affordable eateries. Will pay a little more if there is a pool.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Not Naklua, much more central and with 2 pools and full service.

    diana-oasis.com

Unfortunately often full. Could not get a room last week, did not expect I needed a reservation in July!? JL.

  14. My friend has 2 that I don't think he uses anymore. PM me if you are interested and I'll let him know.

    Cheers

Hi. Also looking for a good quality, stabil one, possibly double....with a simple trailer to bring down the soi to the beach....

  15. Thank you for your reply.

It looks good, with a nice pool for my child.

We know Pattaya well but not this hotel. My wife is Thai and we are looking forward to a break, We usually spend our days at Jomtien beach so our child can play/dig and get wet!!

    Thanks again.

You are looking for a beautiful pool (2!) in a tropical garden, totally safe, also for kids.....Give these guys a try.......They also have a great little restaurant with very fair prices......diana-oasis.com

    Have a great vacation! JL.

  16. Crime in Pattaya has increased dramatically the last few years. Especially violent crime against foreigners. With the downturn in revenue we can expect much more trouble. Just check out the "prime" location Pratumnak Hill, more and more buildings and villages resort to barbed wire, high voltage security wires and more. Hardly a building that has not been burglarized at least once, more often several times. Values of real-estate are falling fast and we have not reached bottom yet.

No question that more and more people will leave, also no questions that the die-hards will keep defending their territory and paint it in pink! JL.

  17. Good choice, stayed there for a fortnight when they opened, but have since switched to Diana-Oasis (diana-oasis.com) and have not regretted it. Their location is better, with lots of action and Taxi routes in front of their gates, also they have beautiful gardens and great longtime staff. Their Lady Manager is a pearl. Have a great time in Pattaya! JL.

the rooms at the oasis look nice, but there are no photos of the standard rooms, and no breakfast and cleaning every 3rd day,the place has been there years and used to be very cheap but now more to pay for this work.I think the PBR looks better value.

Sorry Bomber....Diana-Oasis includes a complete choice of Thai or Farang breakfasts, I had it every morning & they show pictures of their few regular rooms, too.

  19. Yes, Meow the Lady manager is very nice and flexible with guests and deposits. I agree they need to get some deposit, most residence hotels ask for. I have been there several times already and never heard about any problems. Meow is not like other Thai managers, she is very friendly, helpful! I think she went through European training. I'd rather pay a couple hundred more but have a nice pool and all the services of the Estate!

Where in this world can you get a new studio with all included for less than 20 Euros? I am happy with this! JL.

As I have posted several times..I am still all for diana-oasis.com / diana-estate.com

They are very friendly, perfect location, fully equipped studios and even now very busy, this fact alone says enough with most other hotels being empty. Have a nice holiday. JL., NZ

Diana-oasis does indeed look nice BUT...

Whether you stay 1 day, 1 week or 1 month you must make a security deposit of 10,000bt, refundable if all is in order with the room when you leave. This is hidden away at the bottom of their rates page, and is not even mentioned when you make a booking.

I full understand the logic behind this, but it is a sizeable amount.

They are flexible on the deposit. I stayed for 4 nights the other week and they accepted a 4000b cash deposit.

Rooms are nice, staff very friendly, free wifi and swimming pools. But if its good value you are after and can do without the swimming pool, I think you will be hard pressed to beat R-con at 600b a night at the moment.
