  1. Is the Diana-Inn/Millenium the same as the Diana Inn that has been on the corner of Soi Diana for many years?

It is right in the middle of eveywhere that I want to go most days - an easy walk - and easy to get a baht bus to other places. It is clean and comfortable too.

The Diana-Oasis sounds good, but not in walking distance of places that I will visit a lot.

Millenium has been closed for some time now. It is a shoe shop now. Diana Inn still open. I enjoy Diana-Estate (Oasis) due to it's perfect location. It is a clean, well maintained Estate and has large green areas and 2 pools and there is plenty of good bars and Gogos in the area. Less of a tourist trap than Walking Street. JL.jap.gif

  2. Moved from Diana-Inn/Millenium a couple years back to Diana-Oasis in Diana-Estate. Much better value for money and super nice staff and lady manager. Great rooms, breakfast, WIFI and no hidden cost. Best value I have found in Pattaya in many years. JL.

  3. Hi there

Would anybody know where to get Ivermicin or anything to treat mange with some soi dogs? Dosage?Application?Price?

    Thank you very much!

    JL.

I have tried the rest ,now I find the best Pattaya Veterinary Clinic Pattaya Nakula Rd 038423410 dam_n cheap too compared to many.

I presume it is mange (possibly) tablets, powder or liquid Ivermectin does the trick,...used engine oil I have seen used with great effect too spread along the affected skin ( it kills the mites that cause mange). A Soi dog I was treating did not respond to a particular treatment asked this vet who directed me to pharmacy purchase,it had cracked skin all along its back, advised it was a fungus attack,60 Baht pills cleared it.

  4. Hi John

I am a retired lawyer licensed to practice in Texas, USA. That said however, please do not consider this to be legal advice but more in the nature of restating broadly available information.

Most jurisdictions that I am familiar with allow a completely handwritten will. It is called a holographic will. In Texas, at least, the entire document has to be handwritten from the date to the final signature. That said, I would counsel against using a holographic will. If there is a challenge to a holographic will, it creates all sorts of complications and can impart significant costs to an action for probate.

Also, multiple wills are always a bad idea. Most wills start with some boilerplate language stating that it is the person's last will and testament. They also typically contain language revoking all prior wills. As you can see, this might create a problem.

While I don't know if a holographic will, written in English (or Thai for that matter) would be valid in Thailand, it may or may not be valid in Europe or the US. In order to transfer property by way of the will, the will would have to meet the requirements of the jurisdiction where the property was located.

I recommend that you find a lawyer that is familiar with International aspects of estate planning. You will need someone that is familiar with estate and probate laws in Europe, the US, and Thailand. While you may not want to spend the money necessary to do this the best way, a failure to do it properly could result in your sole heir not being able to receive the property without significant legal work, if at all.

    Best of luck to you.

    David

Thank you David & all. JL.jap.gif

  5. Hi all: Is a handwritten, signed, dated Will in English valid in Thailand? It will be a very simple will leaving all to a sole heir. Properties located in Europe, USA and Thailand. What about any Estate left in Europe/US? Will I have to write two Wills? Etc. Etc.? Thanks for all feedback. JL.

  6. Look up diana-oasis.com, a newer outfit in a big Estate. The best value for money I have found in Central Pattaya and very friendly staff. On a monthly base you can get into the very nice, modern studios for about 700 a night with good breakfast and free WIFI. JL.

  7. I have been swimming almost daily on the North end of Jomtien for the last 8 years. I have been stung quite a few times over the time. Unfortunately the last couple of years they seem to be on the increase. They used to be around mainly in April/May/June. Now there are several types all year round and I had a few bad encounters just the last couple of month. One of them bad enough to sting me through my swimming trunks. I feel especially sorry if these beasts hurt a child. Pain can be anywhere from mild to very, very painful. Studies show that all types of jellyfish are spreading fast around all waters of the world. I guess we will be swimming only in the pool soon. http://www.jellyfishfacts.net/dangerous-jellyfish.html

  8. Try Diana-Oasis on Soi Bouakao. diana-oasis.com

I am staying there right now for the 5th. time in 2 years and love their perfect location and amenities. Their staff is very, very nice and Meow the manager is a pearl. Have a look at their website and look at their 1-bedroom luxury. They have very good free WIFI everywhere and a nice restaurant with good free breakfasts. They are often fully booked, this is the only negative I can say about the place. Good luck. JL>jap.gif

  9. Thank you!!!jap.gif

ON the dvd floor of tuk com ,thats floor 4 standing outside the lift looking out to the centre ,on your right hand side in the corner ,there is a guy there who did it for me last year .

sorry if that was as clear as mud ,but dont have a clue what the shop is called :):)

  10. Good points, well explained! JL.

Agree for the most part. first off, Thai condos are designed for a 30-year lifespan, as many are built on 30 year leasehold land. Therefore, after a couple decades, they start to show their age and who wants to put in money for upkeep when the whole think will be torn down and redeveloped in another decade.

With freehold projects, you get factions on the condo boards, with some more cashed-up residents wanting to maintain, or even improve, the common areas and decor, and another group of poorer residents who don't want to spend money on such "extras" and the associated rise in HOA dues.

Another reason not to buy a condo in Thailand, or in any country.

  11. This is the way many (most) Thai condo-buildings go. Some of the buildings are run by foreign committee's, but those committees usually become controversial fast and peace in the condo is gone with personal interests being put ahead of common owners interest. There is some success stories in town, such as Star Beach, Diana Estate, Wongamat Garden and a few more. These are some of the "old", but maintained places. Controlled by Farangs, needless to say.JL.

  12. Recently a friend of mine, well built and 6 ft. tall got almost mugged at 10pm right below soi 8. first a couple of guys approached him demanding money and pushing him agains a tree, then he ran off towards the soi 9 police station. immediately 2 more guys joined the first two, armed with metal pips. They only gave up the chase when my friend screamed HELP approaching the police station. most crimes on beach road go unreported. definitely not safe.

  13. Better make a reservation. Most of the better and more popular places are fully booked. Just tried to get a room at Diana-Oasis for Nov./Dec., but they can only accommodate for a few days. A pity. Have been checking with some other good places, all full for main season and not cheap either. Don't listen to "the always negative", Pattaya is far from dead. Have a great vacation. JL.

  14. Opposite Tony's Disco on walking Street about 50m back or almost opposite Big Tuna Bar, good and very good rate money changer. He is happy to get rid of samller bills in $, bets go middle afternoon, when he gets cash delivered from day's business. Cheers. JL.
