It might be useful if the people commenting on this thread read the article carefully before commenting. It would make you look less retarted. But hey I guess you don't want anything to get in the way of your usual Thai bashing. Makes you look like very sad bitter people.
OK, I read it again. Now what?
I still think of the Aids cure and Ebola cure that Thailand announced it has discovered.
Come on, you must remember a few years ago it was all over Thai news that Thailand had discovered the cure for Aids. It was in the newspapers and on the TV News.
You always post how wonderful Thailand is and anyone who criticizes it is wrong.
What is your comment on all the false reports? Or is it that we just don't understand Thainess?

Last year you were allowed to sit on one of the many chairs along the beach front to watch the show. But the year before the whole beach was cordoned off and only a few VIP's were allowed to sit on the beach. Does anyone know what will be happening this year?

I read that Chaiyaphruk will be one way from beach road up to 2nd road
-
If you want to see a good show try the Colosseum on Thepresit road Jomtien. Great show. And if you do a Google search for Colosseum cheap tickets you can buy the VIP seats for about 350 baht instead of the 1,200 baht farangs are charged at the door!
-
Big problems for me. I have a home on soi Chaiyaphruk about 10 metres from 2nd road towards the beach. Now it is easy to get there from either sukemvit or 2nd road but now I will have to look at my house as I drive past and do a huge detour to soi watboon, back along beach road then up soi chaiyaphuk to get to a few yards from where I was in the first place! This will also cause the same problems for people who live in the housing estate on the corner with Chaiyaphruk and 2nd road.

More suspects??? The plot thickens!!!
How did you manage to post this without blaming the military government? Surely you always hold General Prayuth responsible? After all, I am sure you think he controls the Surat Thani police and the Koh Tao mafia....
Errr.... As the man in charge he is the one ultimately responsible.

Must be a mistake. We all know a thai would never do anything like this.

Have I missed something?
I seem to remember at the start of this case the DNA samples had to be sent to Singapore because Thailand did not have the expertise to test them. But now the police can do it in 24 hours and also there are another 3 places that are also testing.
I hope that the comparison is not done only against the DNA found in the victim but also against the DNA from the found condom and from around her nipples.. Or is that too much to expect?

When I go back to visit the UK I rent a car using my Thai License. No problems with the rental company and I think it also helps with speeding tickets.

Here we go again.
Does anyone remember a few years ago when it was all over Thai Media that a Thai scientist had discovered the cure for AIDS. They went on about it for 2 days then it was quietly forgotten. But I am sure in the Thai schools kids will still be taught that Thailand is the country that discovered cures for AIDS and Ebola, and everybody will believe it.

OMG. Sounds like my old bar! "Drunks and Dare-a-Licks". That was the first bar I ever owned in Thailand. Will have to take a trip by there and have a look.So where is it exactly?
I thought not actually Soi 9?
As I said in my earlier post, it's just inside Soi 9 ( from Jomtien Beach Road) on the left. Only a few yards down.
If anyone is feeling nostalgic have a look at the D&D tribute web page. Not sure if links are allowed so if they are not could the mod please remove and people can PM me instead. But if they are allowed here it is. http://www.drunks-and-dare-a-licks.com.
Happy memories!

Apple Bar on Soi Chayapruk Jomtien had Sam Mig Light on draught recently. Reasonable price also, if my memory is correct.
Thanks for the plug but sorry to say we only have San Miguel on draft and not the light version. 55 baht a glass!

I think the police have turned over a new leaf and are going to pursue this case, no matter where or who it leads to. I believe it is because the army has their back; both to support them and to keep them on the straight and narrow path of righteousness.
If they can bring in the guilty parties and make a credible case against them (no matter who is their father), it will go a long way to restoring respect and confidence in the RTP.
You say the police have turned a new leaf regarding the case? Sure after nearly 2 weeks of trying to set people up, ignore the fact Thais could be involved, local enforcement probably covering things up, ignoring help from outside such as the FBI and having the entire world breaking their balls, good on them...
Sorry but I have no respect for them whatsoever, they handled this in a typical Thai manner, it was a circus and laughing stock, horrific images were leaked, the crime scene was a shambles with regards to how it was fenced off and investigated, the GENERAL and his outstanding bikini comment and who can forget blaming the victims friend on the grounds he was a potential homosexual. Yep, looks like Koh Tao and the rest of Thailand has a booming future
Anyone thats followed this case from the start, can clearly see the police did everything in their power to protect the killers and try to frame a scapegoat. Why anybody has any praise for this institution is quite beyond me. Considering that most reactions immediately after hearing of the crime location fingered the likely perps, the polices 2 weeks to get there and letting them run away isn't going to win any awards. Far worse than useless, and criminal charges must be brought against all the island police. life imprisonment for aiding and abetting murder, obstructing an investigation, hang em.
There is an old but true saying. Never put down to malice what could be stupidity. I think true in this case
-
the very first press release stated that they had closed all the piers and no boats were permitted to leave
I know everyone has a short attention span, or may have missed that, in their attempt to belittle the Thai investigators
It was also reported that all the ferries were running as normal that day. Just because the police request the island be sealed do you really believe the Thais would pay any attention?
-
Sorry you are right but that is even more stupid. They gave many good reasons why it should be illegal but now they are saying who cares how bad it is as long as we can get some money from it!

I agree with Iamnoon88,
The passengers should have been moved well away from the plane as fast as possible. Not having them hang around identifying bags! Could you imagine the newspaper headlines around the world if there was a bomb and it exploded! 197 Dead in aircraft bomb, after the plane landed and all passengers disembarked safely!
The passengers could have been held in a safe secure room in the terminal and the bags searched. If anything found the bag could have been identified by the tags and barcodes on it.
Thank god it was a hoax or many people may have died because of stupid Thai procedures.

From reading the story what the junta appears to be saying is not to take any action which will be seen on international tv and give Thailand a bad name but check every one there and later arrest them when nobody is looking. Maybe they could send them to one of the northern rehabilitation/be happy again camps.

Yes I have noticed many price increases for sure. Like a buffet I used to like went went up 25 percent since last month so I looked at it but they had stopped offering the main dish I used to go there for. Good move ... they got nada from me. Raise the price and offer less, good business IF you can get it.
A few people have got it right and are offering discounts. Draft Beer at Robin Hood Bar in Jomtien now 35 Baht!
That sounds like cost price!! The keg will cost about 3,500 baht for 30 litres which is about 90 glasses assuming no deduction foe wastage. No bar can survive on that and pay all the rent, electric, tea money and salaries etc

Tell me about it. Asking nicely (after purchasing a dozen or more drinks)if they can play my compilation CD of classic rock, Led Zep, Clash, REM, Beatles etc. only to have the volume turned down or stopped entirely and CD returned to yours truly. Chek-bin please (for the final time). Out I go and on goes the vile dance pop at top volume. I thought it only happened to me...555A clear case of the market deciding. Why would a non English speaking Russian want to go on a tour with a Thai guide who speaks rudimentary English and no Russian?
I have to say I admire the Russian no nonsense approach. Give the people what they want and deal with the rules as they come up. Go to Harats, the Russian owned Irish bar in Jomtien. Not one thai working there. The barmen are Russian. How do they get away with it? I don't know but they do.
Pity the rest of the expat population don't have the cojones to do the same. It might make the Thais buck up their ideas of service. Buddha help them when Asean comes into force and the Phillipino's join the workforce.
Going to a bar where the music is played for the tastes of the customers not the staff would be a good start. I know some do and those are the ones where I spend my money but wouldn't it be nice if there was more bars doing this?
I do not blame them!! Was in a bar once when the same thing happened. Farang produced a CD and asked for it to be played. The staff obliged and put it on. One minute later 6 people swarmed into the bar claiming their music being played without license. Poor bar owner was scammed 50,000 baht. She could not pay because it was only a small bar so they took her wedding ring!! She closed the bar the next day.

My 15 year old daughter told me she would never go because it was cheaper for her to travel all the way to Bangkok and go to Dreamland which had many more things there!

Keep you cash in Europe. Never invest in thailand. They can kick you out and take a your belongings if they want.
See all these guys who bought condo and house illegall. "Don't worry we open business for you, we take care of everything and buy our condo."
Now these guys worry(Suckers sucked! ) , plenty of condo for sell everywhere.
Thailand is finished....!
It seems from your comment you got ripped off big style or are you going by hear say the op has not asked about properties/ condos he has asked where we think the Baht is going in my humble opinion I cannot see the baht going any higher than 55 to the £ over the next few years . My income is via the UK I bring it in when required depending on my needs the Halifax building society only charge £9.50 per transaction which I tend to do every two months ,however you can get much better savings rates in the Kingdom than the UK
Just to pass on useful info. Did you know? HSBC in the UK only charge £4.00 to send money to Thailand.

I was at a checkpoint in Hua Yai and the policeman said "Do I give money to police?" First time a policeman had come right out and said he wanted a bribe so I gave him 40 baht! He looked and said "Only small money why?" I told him my Thai girlfriend is the only one who steals big money from me! He laughed and waved me on.

Maybe if he had simply politely declined the offer, smiled and walked away this wouldn't have happened. It seems he tried to give it the big I am and ended up losing to a ladyboy. Must make him very proud
Clearly you are into ladyboys to come up with such an absurd crack. With many of them politely declining just gives them encouragement and prolongs the encounter. They are aggressive and violent- many looking for trouble. A crackdown would be a great idea. I'm certain that you will look out for your own little darlings.
What a load of rubbish!!
In 10 years living in Thailand I have never had a problem with a ladyboy. If I am approached I smile and say "No Thanks". To accuse the poster of being into ladyboys just because he says better to smile and be polite shows that you have a lot of personality problems of your own that need looking at!

This girl had a husband before. Maybe no papers were signed but she would have had a village wedding and a dowry was paid.
She is now used goods. No Thai family would expect another dowry for her, except of course from a farang who they believe knows no better.
Pay no Dowry, spend a lot more time with her, get to know both her and her family. Take it slow! You may be one of the lucky ones. But prepare for the worst. Because the odds are against you.
I wish you luck.
