Anyone have any news on a bar that will be showing the England Italy match?

I own a bar and admit that we do have ladies there who entertain the customers but we also do food. I know the minimum age to go into a bar is 20 but would it be ok to employ someone about 17 or 18 years old if their only job was to cook and serve food and they were not allowed to drink alcohol. Many cafés employ young people even when they also sell alcohol.

I use a service from Spain they provide a small Iptv box which gives you the whole of uk frees at plus all of sky tv and about 200 on demand movies which is updated every month and also a few hard core porn channels. The box was really expensive at 22,000 baht but it works well on my 3bb connection and watching it on my 50 inch tv it looks great. Also on the box is racing uk and I know the uk subscription to that station is nearly 13,000 baht alone. I would recommend it but as I said expensive!

Could you post a link to the website?
Do not think external links are allowed but they have a rep in Thailand. Many times they can give a demo in your own home or leave it with you for 24 hours to try. I will pm the site address and his thai agent phone number to you.

Then for a nice drink to meet friends. Then a romantic walk along the banks if the bosphorus. Probably got back to the hotel about 2:30. It is meant to be a holiday. No one wants to be threatens with prison if they leave their hotel!

Why do people always start screaming about sex and booze as soon as pattaya is mentioned? Simple question, would you take your family on your annual vacation to a place where the government insists you must be safely locked in your room by midnight or you will be arrested?

I'm not an expert on Thai law as it relates to sheesha. Please provide a link to the law. I'll share it with the restaurant owner.
For the last nine months, I have been a frequent (3-4 times a week) customer at an inside, air-conditioned, Sheesha (Tobacco water pipe) lounge on Soi 13/4 in Pattaya. A comfortable place, where you can relax and comfortably chat with people."I have met many Russians and Chinese who are genuine, polite and considerate"Really?
Where?
"Many"??
I've met Russians from Moscow, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and other towns and cities that I can't remember the names of. I found most to be polite, courteous and friendly. Many spoke good English and I used my IPad to communicate otherwise. They do laugh and joke, just like anyone else.
I've also met Koreans, Belorussians, Ukrainians, Iranians, Qataries, Omanies, Austrailians, Americans, Canadians, Indians, Thais, Pakistanis, etc.
With few exceptions, they were wonderful people to pass an hour or two with while engaging in conversations about our homes, pets, jobs, etc.
It is quite easy to presume, label and dislike a group based on a casual encounter that may consist merely of passing one another on the sidewalk. I would imagine I look quite "foreign" to them in some respects and perhaps act differently in social encounters.
I do, however, try to practice tolerance and accept people for what other are, regardless of their national origin, ethnicity, color, gender, sexual orientation, bigotry, narrow-mindedness and negativity.

You are aware that the Sheesha is illegal in Thailand aren't you?
Another one of those laws that are disregarded most of the time.
I'm not the sheesha police, topic police, or any other authority. I leave that to others who are inclined to do so.

That would be sex tourism dollarsMy vacation is saved! (Because it's all about me you know...)
Seriously, though. I'm happy that they are slowly loosening the reins. For better or worse, Pattaya depends HEAVILY on the tourism dollars.
Sex has been medically proven to improve your health. It improves your respiratory system, It burns over 600 calories per hour, anatomically it reduces body fat and toughens up the butt cheeks, SO lets call it medical tourism if you please.
Also very good for the wrist muscles!

I hope that Jomtien is included in the definition of Pattaya!

Moved to inactive posts. Nothing changes! Why are they not sacked or prosecuted for allowing mass corruption in their departments? Or maybe the new rulers are just as happy with corruption as every one else, they just want new corrupt people who are not loyal to the man in Dubai

Thai Labor Law is the reason they are not sacked.
Prosecution is a separate thing entirely. Moving them to an inactive post does not mean they will not be prosecuted.
I really hope you are correct. Thailand deserves a new start but until the police are sorted out from top to bottom nothing will change.

If you read my posts you will see I that I own a bar. It is my livelihood. If the company you work for was about to go bust I am sure you would be concerned too. I am not like some employers. I still pay my staff even if the government say cannot open. I pay a living wage and most of my 12 staff get over 11,000 baht salary. In a few days it is payday. Of course I am concerned about anything that affects the sale of alcohol. The thing that annoys me is that no decree so far has banned alcohol sales. Even during the curfew hours. But why are you so concerned about what I like or not like. Even if I was just a customer in bars does it hurt you in any way?
Sorry for all the spelling mistakes. Stupid iPhone auto changing words I type.

Some posts on this forum say that curfew starts at 11pm tonight and midnight on Sunday. The main news section says it is still 10pm. Can any one please confirm what the law is. Even the Thai people I ask are confused.

There has been a rumor from the first night, that it would go 12-4 at the weekend, and be finished sometime Mon - Wed depending on the rumor.
I have heard no official source on this and have chased it up with bangkok business owners, phuket business owners, pattaya business owners etc.. Each of whom have police contacts.. Yes the rumor is out there but until its officially stated its nothing more than that.
Given the starting of the #anticoup protests, arrests and protests last nigth in Chaing Mai, and the tense situation in illegal gatherings in bangkok yesterday.. I dont see how anyone can predict where things will be with any accuracy. Its day to day depending on what happens next.
And yet another reply to this question , in anther thread, says 100% the curfew starts at midnight tonight. There is supposed to be some web site listing all the provinces affected and the current times of the curfew. Wish I knew for sure but maybe best to play safe and close at 10.

As an aside. Posts on this forum state that the curfew starts at midnight tonight. My cashier also says the same. But I can find no confirmation of this. Does any one know for sure?

The same way gogo's and some bars are openly advertising that they are open all night but the doors are locked. It is not a curfew breaking party. No one in the bar was breaking the curfew. The bar was not an open bar but a converted house and every one was staying inside. No one in and no one out. And for the army to try and say we would be arrested for having more than five people at a political meeting shows they were just clutching at straws to find an excuse to justify why the bar could not be open.

Last night we had a lock in at my bar (Jomtien). Closed the door and put up a big sign saying "Bar Closed - Private Party till 5am" Turned off all the lights and carried on serving to a bar full of people. About 11:30pm the Army turned up and demanded that every one go home. I complained we were all indoors and the doors were locked. He did not care, instead he said he was going to arrest every one because there was more than 5 people there! I was going to tell him he was stupid but my staff immediately deserted me. They all went straight home, including the cashier! Customers followed very quickly afterwards. Except for me and two friends who sat and drank alone till about 1:30am.
Rumour: My wife tells me that last night the Army smashed down the door to get into a bar in Soi Boukaew (Pattaya). Cannot confirm it myself but the way they hit my bar I can believe it.
Tonight many bars and Gogo's in Pattaya are advertising lock in parties. Will be interested to see what happens to them.

For all the hype and type there seems to be no validity to this story. As at this time, Police Inspectors are at their desks as on any other day ......
same as we got told when the story came in to everyone this morning. told not to run with it as it is a mis interpretation of events. seems military are assisting police at various large police stations nationwide. not taking control
Ah now I understand. The same as the Army were not staging a coup.

The coup leaders say it consists of The Army, Navy, Air Force and National Police. But the police are the main part of Thailand problems!
Why can't they see this and reform the Police as well.

I also have an XXL and drive a lot around Thailand.
The maps overall are very good and have so far taken me from one side of Thailand to the other with no problems. Very occasionally the map will try to take you down an unpaved road but if it is left set to Fastest Route there should be no problems.
My only criticism is that it is very hard to input destinations because the English spelling does not match the real Thai names. Browsing the map in the area you want to go and then setting a destination is the best way. Of course once there you set it as a favorite then can return any time.
