    Cool pics Dynabob,

What kinda bars you got on yours, any pics? I thinking of getting Carlini gangsta apes not sure what size to go with maybe 14". Expensive though approx 350 bucks.Might bring a few pics down to the local shop see if he can make em here cheap.

You said somewhere that you've got forward controls on yer bike, did ya buy em or have em made?

Whats the best way do you think to import stuff without paying through the nose on import tax.

I've been pricing V&H short shots staggered pipes (black) here for 23000, 24000 and 25800, but the cost bout 14000 stateside, I'd do it meself if I knew I didn't have to pay a huge ransom once the got here

  2. Hi all !

Is it possible to transfer my work permit? I've had mine more than 3 years now, without a degree ( I also have the temp teacher license)! I'm considering moving on to another better paying job, but would hate to lose it and have to go back to doing border runs.

Any help would be much appreciated

  3. HANG ON KEZ !!!!!!!!!!

    Doesn't kick off til tomorrow-Friday, ok :)

Hey Barry when you gonna be there? I know you've got a sweet bike back in Ireland, but what kinda bike you got here?

Now there's about 6 coming from my part of town should be great,I'm gonna bring pics of the accessories I want with the part numbers so I can get some quotes, might save me some hassles dealing with customs.........

Chris I tried calling you twice this afternoon

  4. Anybody heard abou an event in Hua Hin this weekend April 24th and 25th? I heard third hand that someone high up in a local club down there is opening a Bar/restaurant there Friday night. I know there are a few guys on here from there ,Whats the news?????

  5. Beammeup,

Don't be surprised if they say they'll give you the invoice papers a few weeks after you hand over the money!!!!!!

That's what happened with me, I had a good thai friend who spoke with the seller and he was assured by him that that was normal. The seller said that I should hold onto 50,000 baht and pay the balance when I went to collect the invoice papers.

It was a huge risk but if I didn't do it that way I'd have never gotten the bike. It actually took 2 weeks and there was no problems.

Now,when I went to the company that deals with the process of registration they wanted to see both my passport and work permit and I had to provide 2 copies of each page.

If you don't have a work permit I'm sure there are other ways of doing it. This is the way I'm going about it.I'm having to learn as I go along .I hope that it can help others on here.

I will call the company tomorrow for an update, couldn't find the number today!

If it all works out ok with them then I could let other people on here know who they are and maybe they can use them also, perhaps cutting out the middle man( dodgy dealers). But I'd rather get the book/plate on my bike first that way I know they're reputable.

  6. Hey Chris! Yeah it's been a while, working alot and staying close to home for now.

If I'm gonna enjoy having a few beers, then I'll leave the bike at home, plus it's the perfect place for them to check bike regs, I'm paranoid about this ......can't wait til I have it all sorted out so I can go anywhere I want.

  7. Hey guys,

I am currently going through the same process,I bought a Harley last October, then had to wait until I got the 80,000 baht together to get the book/plate.

I went back to the fella I bought it from and he said here's the company I go through why don't you just go there an deal with them directly.Which is what I did.

When I was there they seemed surprised that I had the full amount, turns out I could have paid 50% and paid the remainder on collection of the book/plate.I ended up paying them 50,000 baht and will pay the remainder when I collect them. This pissed me off a little because I could have started the whole process months earlier and I would have them by now...oh well. I think he said it would take a few weeks before it has to be brought in for the emissions test(?)I've been waiting a little over a month now I'm going to call them tomorrow and get an update, I expect things not to go as smoothly and things have probably been delayed because of Songkhran and the riots , extended holidays etc.

My advice to beammeup is to check around with other riders who have dealt with this dealer before and find out if he is above board, if you have a friend who can speak thai have them check out the hd-playground site that has forums I sure he'd have been mentioned on there good or bad who knows!

xlineshooter I'm sorry I don't know livin los should be the man with the info there, but I guess it depends on the amount you've spent on the bike already. I personally wouldn't <deleted> with the frame/engine no., why not ask the dealer what's he playing at?Again I'm no expert.

It does seem that the clampdown on unregistered bikes has subsided, I guess the BIB have more important to deal with. I may even risk going to one of the bike weeks ,what do you all think? Is it safe to ride with just invoices papers and receipt for the book/plate?

  8. I live in Nonthaburi, I just went to do my 90 day report in Bangkok on St. Paddys day. I went in got the form from the front desk and a counterticket number . Filled the form out went upstairs to the fifth floor, room 507 sat down at the ladies desk and was finished within 3 minutes. It was absolutely the easiest its ever been .I'm happy. btw I asked if I could do this in Ayutthaya, she said yes but looked at me asif to say "why would you bother when its been made this easy to do here?"

    Don't know what he said,

but <deleted> he can make Paddy/Irish comments and thats alright is it?????????????

    BE WERY WERY CAREPHULL................ :D

On a more serious note, I have just about saved the 85,000 baht to get my greenbook/registration sorted out. The bike is an import from Japan and the guy I bought it from said he can take care of it. I don't believe there will be a problem cos I know he has ridden his bike across the Malaysian border on more than one occasion. I intend on telling him that's what I plan on doing later this year......

So,when I go to him next week will he be able to give me a receipt saying that I've paid for the book/reg or does he get that from wherever he sorts things out?

What about page 18? By bringing this to his attention before he goes to the office of whatever Do you think this could work so that I won't have any problems later on?

So far he's been great to deal with, which is why I want to complete the transaction as it were, with him so that other buyers will then know he's a good un!

Though re. the '7 day holiday', I was rather disappointed with a certain Harley-riding member here (who I've previously met) who went crying to the mods. :o

That'd be me folks, again I don't understand why you have to make the Harley rider distinction, prolly cos you can't get away with Paddy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

My gripe was hardly crying now is it ? Also, if you were to reread it, it's more in reference to what I thought was a double standard re the mods, but I was corrected by one of them.

Welcome back anyway "you with the charm of a peasant"post-73185-1236751580.gif

  10. I'm definitely going,

Thats where I bought my bike, in fact that's the pic of the poster I took at the guys house I'm glad it's been put to use, Kudos Thai CBR I just didn't think of it.

I'm leaving Bang bua thong in Nonthaburi at about 4pm, it's only 75 klicks up the road from here. Should be a pretty big group leaving then.

Anyone want to meet I can put the details up if you want.

ps I keep trying to change my Avatar pic, but it just won't happen, any ideas mods?

  12. Hey Dynabob,

I haven't a clue. I'm still trying to get the money together for the reg n book. Then, I'll start the mods.

It runs really hot so an oil cooler's first, I wouldn't mind having the V&H shorts staggered black pipes, and an arlen ness big sucker.

I'm reading a lot about the fuel management systems, still don't know what goes best with the above....it's doin me head in!! I've read good stuff about the xied and vied on www.nightrider.com. But I have a few months before I make a final decision.

When are you trading bikes? by the way, when you test ride the bike it might have a rattle in the front end its a washer that needs replacing thats all!!!! I can look for the part no.,but I haven't bothered meself .

Best of Luck with the new bike, F.B.

  13. Everyone going to Udon, best of luck and be safe.

I went up there new years eve, left at 2 in the afternoon and got there 8.30 and that was with horrendous traffic jams,I reckon you should get there just under 5 hours .....If you are going to go all that way might I suggest that you go the extra 50 klicks and go to Nongkhai to see the MekongPicture048.jpg

I really thought the food was great in the Irish clock and I know some of you guys are staying there but what have you worked out about parking/security for your bikes?

    Picture037.jpg

You have got to check out this place Harley O' Tooles, its within stumbling distance of the clock. Cool new owner named Eddie , I went to Udon to see this place I heard it was owned by a fellow Irishman and Harley rider, but he'd already sold it to an American (Eddie)the current owner, good guy I was up til 8am on new years day!Picture035.jpgPicture036.jpg

Alright have a great trip, F.B.

p.s. If you have any bike parking issues speak to Eddie he can help I'm sure.
