  1. my wife gave a natural birth at lanna 2 1/2 years ago the total cost of the birth was 25,000 for 3 days stay in there and we got back 19,000 back from the insurance so it was a total of 6,000 which is fantastic .

also at first they would not let me in to see the birth but the doctor said it was ok.

lanna hospital is one of the best hospitals for children around my daughter has been sick and we went to check on friday they have rang us everyday to see how she is.

  2. I came here as a 24 year old and life was good back then (and still is)i stayed out of the tourist areas and liked santitam alot got to know a few girls there(time) and they are always friendly to me and still are.

I also like fine thanks (canel road)once a month if i got some money or the restaurant nong fluke is also good for finding nice normal thai girls .

    Bar 51 in jed yod.

Been here since i was 24 and am now 31 married with a kid .

Had lots of friends come visit me and they also loved chiang mai so there is plenty to do here but if you are looking for a short fix of craziness then you are better off some where else but if you want to go not to crazy and also chill out the rest of the time then chiang mai can be the perfect place for you.

Ah yeah, I like your style. All those places are really good times. The "Nong Fluke" place you mention, I think I heard it as "Wan Fuk"... Good spot. Not sure how long its been since you went to Time Bar, but its moved locations across the street and hugely expanded. Way better than it was a year or two ago. The band that plays in Bar 51 is really good too.

The great thing about Chiang Mai, is that if you look hard enough, you can still find a fair bit of craziness. And when you really get the itch, BKK is only a short flight or overnight train away.

I went to Time bar last week whistling.gif.

hope my wife don't read this 555.

  4. I meet a lot of men here that are not into the thai women but they normally hang out in the tourist areas as that is where they can meet farrang girls.

It's just not everybody's cup of tea i understand that .

thai women sometimes can be a bit crazy including my wife but i just don't talk to her for 1 day and the next day it's fine TIT.

Or is it she don't talk to me 5555.

  5. My Irish friend went in the un irish pub last year and was so hacked off as he was the only irish person in there so if anyone knows of any others please let me know so i can tell him .

or someone could make a facebook group Irish people to meet in chiang mai on paddys day.

  6. 3. Xbox live can be accessed within Thailand, it will be the consistantly poor / slow service provided here that will limit your fun on live.

Sorry to drag this thread up, but I just got back to Thailand and I've hooked my Xbox360 up with LIVE and it FLIES. Very, very fast.

I have TRUE 20MBPS service, that's another thing that's improved dramatically since i left. Very fast internet.

I downloaded the Fight Night Champions demo (1 gig) in 4 mins :)

I had nothing but trouble with it lol but don't have anywhere near that kind of bandwith. I'm not really too bothered over live anyway if truth be told. Hope your enjoying it

Cheers mate, I use it to play Sports games online. Also, I use the Video Kinnect to chat with my brother a couple of times per week. TRUE 20MBPS costs around 1200 baht a month which is pretty good value IMO. They have 30MPBS for 1700, also good value IMO. Their top speed is 100MBPS, which blew me away as I didn't expect Thailand to have that kind of speed available in Chiang Mai. It's around 4500 baht per month though. I am happy enough with the 20MBPS and may upgrade to the 30 later. At this stage though, Xbox LIVE is flying, Youtube HD plays flawlessly and I can watch streaming sports like the NBA in HD without any lag at all. Pretty good stuff :)

depends what area you are in as i checked last week and i can not get it in soi chang khain just by doi sutep .

It seems to be the main roads in the city.

  7. According to here:

    Chiang Mai Mail

they are at 15 different locations, including municipal office, Airport Plaza and KSK

    Following is the pertinent paragraph.

He is very enthusiastic about recycling and has 15 hazardous waste recycling bins set up, the bins take such as items as old batteries, cell phones etc and can be found in Kad Suan Kaew, Central Airport and in front of the Municipal building as well as other locations around the city. He said that the City Council originally rejected the plan so he managed to get 15 such stations from the Pollution Control Department for free. It has been such a success that they have now ordered 100 more.

too bad they can't put some basic garbage cans/bins around the city. start with sunday walking street.

Many years ago, that street was always filthy, then they put up garbage disposal bins and things got a lot better for a few years.. Sad to hear they are gone.. :(

I got told by a thai that people kept putting something in the bins thats was not good(boom) so they got rid of them all.whistling.gif

  8. I have about 8-10 clicks and sometimes the shocks do go but if you do replace them with YSS shocks make sure you put on originals before you go to sell it as the thais like all the original parts on a bike when they buy it.

  9. you need to buy IRC tires from the honda dealer just over the bridge from the river ping going towards the bus station(sang chai motors) the mans name who speaks english is renu or you could just ring 0818843165.

copies they just don't last as long and you get flat ties easier in my opinion (but each to there own).

and IRC inner tubes are also better quality .

  10. I hadn't seen that post yet. What an incredibly sad thing to read.

    here's my (cynical) take:

    1. remember you are a walking ATM

    2. don't forget that if you cannot get a girl in your own country - you can here - but at a price!

    3. Thais view relationships in a more 'practical way' than farangs - what's love got to do with it? (apologies Tina)

    4. you are number 10 behind:

    their family

    their bank account

    their gik

    their second gik

    their friends

    their dog

    their car

    their job

    their clothes

and then maybe you (if you find a good one)

    and remember the translation problem?

    they say/it means

honey I miss you / can i have some money

you are the only one for me / apart from my gik

where have you been honey / I need money

i love you / i love your bank account

you are so handsome / i am short of cash

honey can i bring a friend / can you pay for both of us

i'm feeling sick and cannot come tonight / my gik is visiting town

i have never met anyone like you before / none of my giks have ever had any money

I only like farangs / only they have money

I broken heart / and broken bank account

A bit tongue in cheek but you get the drift? everything here is an 'exchange' i know many farangs who are happy with their Thai girl - often 20 or 30 years apart... must be love right? well it may be... love Thai style

GREAT AND REALISTIC POST, I DO FULLY AGREE AFTER 20 YEARS IN PARADISE :jap:

I'm loving this post it really gave me a good laugh today.

but it's kinda true in a way .

I have been in a relationship for 7 years with a thai women and i have no money so there is an exception to the rule i'm 31 years old and have been together since i was 24 but she is older then me by 6 years maybe that has something to do with it.

  11. I also know an apartment for 800 baht a month but you might be sleeping with cockroaches or as one guy found out snakes and he didn't go back in his room for a month .

or if you were out the country you could use the room for storage like i know one guy did.

  12. me and my girlfriend have been in this situation a few years back now but it was pretty straight forward we just paid the money to the lawyer it was easier .

5 years on and we are still not married but she said she felt free as soon as we got that paper.

    due to daily beatings.

  13. it's just the people back home that say "oh your going on your own" i came here in 2004 then went home for a year to work and come back with a plan and have been here ever since.

All my friends said i would be back within 6 months with no money and my girlfriend would of taken it all.

Now i have a family with that same women psst what do they know.

best thing i have ever done with my life and i'm 31 which there doesn't seem to be that many young people that live here.

  14. I know this awesome guy called toshi he is the best at what he does he is pricy tho you can ring him on-0807941955.

    Sawasdee Khrup, Khun RakChiangMai,

How pricey ? And, where was he trained, or licensed ?

    thanks, ~o:37

    Khun O...

Licensed? Unlikely. In Thailand? Even more unlikely.

you can look at the posts above and the link someone else has put on here.

  15. If you want to know the price you can ring him and discuss it with him but it's not that expensive for what you get.

He is a very knowledgeable guy and he explains everything to you clearly as he is working on you and teaches you to take care yourself like bad posture .

  16. I have been to lot of people to claim to fix me here but Toshi knows what he is doing he has spent over 300000 dollars on studying .

He also helps doctors out sometimes.

you can come with your sarcastic comments but i have seen many people come though the muay thai gym claiming to be a body worker or that line of work but Toshi is the best i have ever seen he has helped out so many of the thai boxers here.

He is trained in 4 different skills not sure what they are but you will just have to ring him and ask him.
