  1. Thank you Lorry and DrJack54.

If anyone else has had a different experience (i.e. they demanded to see the TM.30 receipt otherwise no extension) this or last year at Chaengwattana then please let me know. It's quite far out to go there so I'm trying to prevent any repeat visits.

I wish I had taken a photo or made a copy of it, then I could've shown that. I never expected anyone to remove the paper receipt from my passport.

It makes sense if they could just check their database instead of demanding the paper receipt. However I had stayed at hotels around Thailand, so that would mean that the address in their system would now be different from my usual residence, which can be a problem for extension, right?

Or do you guys think they won't even check their database, i.e. they no longer care about TM.30 compliance at Chaengwattana? It'd be good if that's the situation now, as it was strict some years ago, and I had to pay 800 THB.

  2. I have an extension of stay (based on non-immigrant O visa) application coming up in Bangkok so while going through the list of required documents I realized that the TM.30 receipt that was stapled in my passport was gone.

I've done a bit of traveling over the past year and used re-entry permits to return so maybe at some stage an immigration officer had removed it.

Is the paper receipt actually necessary to show for the extension application, or can they simply check their database to see the same address that I had notified years ago?

Or would I have to do a new TM.30 report just to get a receipt to show? I'm hoping that I wouldn't need to do this as it'd require hassling the property owner.

  3. I noticed in Air Asia Ride there are options like "quiet driver", "new car", "English speaker".

I had the idea that there should be entertainment options like "Play own music via bluetooth", which could improve the experience for us, especially for long rides e.g. during traffic (recently I was in a cab for 4h due to traffic which would've taken 0.5h without). I know we could just use our earphones but feeling the bass from the car's system is more enjoyable.

Maybe taxi cabs could even offer video screens on which we could watch YouTube videos etc. I know we could watch things on our own smartphones but it can cause motion sickness whilst in a moving vehicle.

Is there any progress with a common ticketing system for all mass transit networks in Bangkok / Thailand (like there is in other countries e.g. Japan)? Mangmoom?

As lines increase in number and complexity, the more need there is for a common ticketing system, otherwise it can be unfairly expensive to use the network. Have you guys been to Japan? Here's the Tokyo railway network map:

The common ticketing system works very well there. Getting somewhere in Tokyo often requires a few line changes (that may be operated by a different company) but the cost doesn't increase on each change. I hope Bangkok will be similar.

    Found this online

    Here's a clearer version:

It looks like this is simply a formal approval. It says nothing about agreement that it'll be the personal property of the spouse and not marital property, so maybe that'd be a separate document. That could be the key to ensure that the wife can't take 50% of it upon divorce, and also when it comes time to sell, consent from her would no longer be required. You sure wouldn't want your wife preventing the sale of your property when you want to sell.

Maybe you are thinking about a document to make it not a marital asset, similar to what foreign husbands sign when a Thai wife buys a house during marriage

I wasn't sure what the consent form was about, I was just reading around and many sites mention a form e.g. "Spouse Consent Form (If married)" at https://freshbangkok.com/guide-buying-investing-bangkok-condos-foreigners.

So is there only this one form that she'd sign, and is it about agreeing that the property will be the foreign husband's personal (not marital) property? If so, then even if wife's consent isn't required, it would be better to get it (if possible), right?

Also, how about when it comes time to sell the property... on that web site under the heading "Seller Document Preparation" it also lists "Spouse Consent Form (If married)". What is that about? Foreign husbands need the wife's agreement to sell the property? What if he didn't get the wife's consent when he bought it?

What has your home country to do with anything?

We're used to not having to pay.

If you think it’s a good idea to hold one in case of emergency, then it’s a good idea to be prepared to pay for one.

I'd rather still want to avoid such fees if possible.

I did hold Thai bank cards for many years in the past but found I rarely used them but was charged automatically for them every year, so I thought they were a waste of money and cancelled all of them.
