  1. Nothing here from ubonjoe, trust you are well.

We had a friend (operative word, had.) Proof of God's love. They were going to spend a month on holiday with the Mrs. in Thailand.

They are rude, arogant and self-important. Without speaking to me she considered herself invited. Our treat.

She sent her documents to DC Thai Embassy, with everything they requested. We were on a schedule. The thing to do was use the consulate in Miami, Fla.

We could have driven there had it done on the spot. After a few days the VISA didn't arrive back as this lie of a woman said they told her it would.

So she thought hate phone calls would be helpful. The Mrs. phoned them, they told her the same thing they told the lie of a woman. It would be here in a couple of days. I was standing by. I suggested to ask if that were in fact true. The kind Thai on the other end of the telephone said, probably not. There are a lot of other people in the world besides this hate filled woman.

My Mrs wasn't sure what to do. I was very sure. I said, send her a message maybe she can visit another time. My wife being the sainted woman she is didn't think she could do that. I said, hand me your telephone. I sent the message.

The reality of the story, in the USA in Thailand, worldwide, the peope with the rubber stamps, they can do anything they want to. They do for me and not just because I'm so incredibly handsome. I already know I'm not the only person in the world.

Maybe this is just a tribute to my beloved wife. She's the one who taught me.

  2. This should be interesting, a very diverse subject..................smile.png

For myself, the other half holds the purse strings for the household necessities. As a housewife should IMHO, I know my mother did all through my growing up.

Do I/should I trust her? Although anything is possible; not stupid enough to consider anything otherwise, after 16 years of marriage, yes I do.

If the trust isn't there, then the relationship is flawed from the start...........................wink.png

No doubt others will have different opinions/experiences.

If the trust isn't there, then the relationship is flawed from the start...

  3. you could get arrested before the border.

It would be interesting to know why you have an 8 month overstay

Wild guess, no respect for the law. Thai law or any law. I'd go the the airport and leave the country, pay on exit and return.

I had an overstay once during previous illegal coup de gras. Though there were serious health issues involved, not mine. . .

The man who took my money said , had I not packed the paper work in my checked bag, he'd have waived the fine. Returned a few months after and got married.

It was not an issue. The overstay. Though it seems like I relate to Thai people and the law very different than many of the posters here. Or I'm in another Thailand.

I can't possibly be the only one who knows how a monetized society works. They all work the same. Money talks, nobody walks.

  4. I first went to Vietnam, the begining of the last quarter 1966. Ho Chi Minh saw fit to send me home from the Mekong Delta ahead of my schedule in 1967. Darn you Master Ho.

In my oberservations, RVN has done more to advance itself in about 40 years, than much of the rest of the wolrd has been able to achieve in thousands. No hard feelings and I tip my hat to the fruits of their efforts. No bad people, only bad governments.

Thank you. Your photos are very good. Mine would not be appropriate to post. Yesterday's news.

  5. Thanks for that info Ubonjoe,

But I think I would rather make the trip to Bangkok, I have never had any issues at immigration there, Jomptien on the other hand is usually full of very inpatient and impolite farrangs (from all countries) and it only makes the staff more irritable and less helpful.

But it is good to know thanks, I have also been looking at the Laos Embassy web-site and might consider a road trip for a few days as I have never been there, do you know if I can take my truck into Laos or do I have to leave it at the boarder? is there some paperwork that I can get that will allow me to drive over the boarder into Laos so that I can have a little tourist trip?

There is a very good chance that if you go to Bangkok they will turn you away and tell you to go to Jomtien for the application.

The Venetian embassy has some misleading info on it's website for getting a non-o for retirement. It shows info for a Lao citizen to get a OA visa. All you will need is your passport and your bank book showing 800k baht.

To take you truck into Laos you will need a passport for it that you have to apply for at the Department of Land Transport office where it is registered and the original green book. On entry to Laos you have to get Lao insurance. Most people going for just a few days to get a visa choose to park their vehicles rather than than dealing with the paperwork.

Thanks for this. All this time I thought my friend was just looking for me to pay his friends for parking. It was okay. My friend is up the food chain. His English is UK and India English and it often takes my US english days or weeks to understand him. WE don't talk about football. We discuss life and better ways to live it. Or should we go eat ice cream at which BigC.

Mr. Joe you're doing a lot of good in the world.

    Thank you,

    Gus

  6. I think experiences such as these are for the maladjusted. Ex-pats or locals. Ex-pats and locals. People not thinking about money and or sex all the time, will not have many of the experiences shared here on TV. They won't need them. They're normal, mature , comfortable with themselves, adults. All shapes. sizes, colors and countries. Moving nicely through life.

  7. And then there's me with an opinion so far out no one even cares to listen.

Being a sailor I feel putting out to see is very harsh. To me that is comparable to a death sentence.

I agree getting on a leaky boat isnot the proper way to attain immigration and should not be used as such. But they must be dealt with in a humane way.

I think of history. Australia was basically built by British criminals because Britian found a place to put them out of the way from everyone else. In this line of thought why not place these boat people on a remote island and let them start over there.A few matchetes and matches and let them make a new life on terra firma. Work their way out and creat their own new world..Better than slave or dieing at sea. Also no cost to anyone else. Maybe the Phillipines or some other country with many islands could simply donate one and when it starts to prosper take them under their government and utilize them.

They want a new start give it to them but no handouts.Except for the land on the island. But this cost can be recovered once they have an infrastructure and the country that gave the island to them takes them under their power and starts taxs ect.

Radical but hey people on leaky boats wanting to by pass immigration are a little radical by nature. So work with what we got.

Better than drowning, sure, but as is suggested previously, deal to the Myanmar government and make them take them back under UN peacemaking surveillance. I think they have already started talks so let's hope so.

Your way would work in a perfect world for sure. But in this world the costs would be exorbitant the bearaucracy endless, with finger pointing and blaming going on forever. I should add if they succeeded in making a society of some form on the island they could then be allowed to have relatives move there to enjoy the new earned freedoms, and assist in their new frontier, could be on going and in the future they could take refugees from other countries and assist them. Making life for other countries a lot easier not having try to educate, feed and shelter them with the hopes the area they live in doesnot become a slum and their kids hoods on the street gangs selling drugs etc. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and countries like America,Britain,Canada etc have for years helped other nations and people with these problems only to find they bring their problems with them.Every etnic group brought over in large groups needing assistance becomes the next problem ethnic group in the 2nd or 3rd generation. Uneducated street people just like they were back where they came from and violence their major tool. Some for generations never get a job because what the government gives them is more than they would have ever had working in their home country so they no bother to work with such luxury for free. Myanmar willnot take them back so send them somewhere they willnot be a burden or risk to others. Rant over thanks.

Thoughtful reply thanks! I can't fault your reasoning. I just hope the idea of an island somewhere just doesn't eventually become a prison island.

But a separate state like the one the Palestinians hope for might be good, but where I'm not sure.

    Nassau, Commonwealth of Bahamas.

  8. Wow my brother. Let her call herself anything she cares to. Explain to her the potential of the problem with the dcouments. All this while your telling her how much you love her and love her name any name she wants. Theerak works very well in our world. I was off the Theerak list once for about 24 hours. I never want to go through that again. Felt like a thousand years. Sabai

  9. Hmm. I have explained several times, no such creature as HiSo. Though have a more clear understanding on the meaning, INSECURE.

This isn't sociology, some people have just been in the heat too long. Ex-pats included. This is mental health issue. Re-tune the drama.

Everybody sounds drunk at this altitude.

  10. too many things do not match...

starting with the title "to stay in Thailand definitely at any age." => nothing is definitely for foreigners, as the extension of stay has to be renewed every year, no matter work, marriage, retirement

second when you talk about "married to a Thai woman" => why go down all the hassle with company set-up and requirements for that? 400K on bank and some paperwork every year gives you the same "definite" stay as the work permit

finally you write ". If the company need to hire That people to qualify you for the work permit, that is not a problem, working or not, getting paid or not." => this sounds pretty much like an illegal circumvention of the laws in order to get your WP and as Mario outlined, if immigration or labour departement checks on your company, the only "definite" you might see is the door of the holding cell at IDC...

"Use your imagination.." => yep, do that and think about the consequences of setting up phony companies...

Orange juice with the morning coffee.

The original post , I don't think so. I want to do something legal, I hire a lawyer.

Wherever I am in the world.
