1. since 1973, i bought gold panda coins but the markup was only about 5% above spot....

wonder if it is easy to setup gold coin shops in european cities with some 40% markup profit margin....

perhaps that was one major reason among many many others, why my wife was always complaining about her living just barely above poverty level since 1973.... :D

    in

and why many believe even though there are more purchases than sales - the gold/silver markets - as with other markets are rigged and that we are all getting ripped off .

Yes that is my thoughts exactly

If I were Russia or China I would be happy to be trading some paper for metal. Let the price of the paper traded metals do what they want. For now many assume they are one in the same.

why believing in fairy tales Flying? there is virtually no difference between the price of paper gold and the price of a 500g or a 1 kilo bar. a significant price difference exists only where coins and minisized bars are concerned. Mrs Naam claims she has hardly ever bought gold without price comparison with the live price on her mobile phone. in Europe 1/10th of an ounce and 5g bars are sold with a markup of nearly 40%... but suckers still buy.

It is already obviously apparent that we are not going higher at the opening. Had we gone higher - it would not have been much anyhow. If we have a strong comeback in the last hour - the jury is still out. I am not really "sticking out my neck" since I personally do not trade according to my future "expectations (guesstimates)" but rather to "specific occurences" in the Market.

For instance "specific occurences" showed me the Market will go down today Tuesday (quite sharply) - my "expectations (guesstimate)" were we would have a "blip up" in the morning before start of sell-off (incorrect expectation). As someone pointed out "aiming for perfection has its price".

My "expectations (guesstimate)" are we will have a "major" reversal to the up-side at the end of Tuesdays trading day - not yet borne out by "specific occurences".

It is not fair to judge any traders performance - without understanding his specific aim - and particularily not by having hypothetical trades (which do not indicate necessarily an entry position).

Parvis you are the derivative expert.

At present - I see Market going up Tuesday morning - then selling off. At the end of the day Tuesday (last hour) - there is a strong potential that Market will recover sharply. At that time you should notice that put/call ratio will become high. Should this occur - as I described - there is a strong potential Market will go up 700 points on DJI within the next week or so. But I do not trade on projected anticipation - but rather what the Market is telling me at any given time (my "inside information" ie the "inside of my crystall ball").

Ok, you know who you are. Those of you who like durian (my dad is one of you, but then he also eats Limberger cheese so it makes perfect sense). You can eat the fancy not so stinky durian

But can you eat the far smellier and gooier durian baan?

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

    --Mae West

    hi ms sbk

one reason among many others that durian is gooier, is because.... it is TOO RIPE.... which will turn yellowish color on the horny (?) spiky outer layer.... i mean.... thornier not hornier.... :o

if you like durian a little firmer but still soft, but not gooey.... choose the green appearance with just a tint of yellowish color.... :P

  8. For me, eating durian is like going back in time, like 2.000 years

It smell really shitty to me, but must admit that if somebody is

promising me, let´s say, 1.000 baht if I taste a bit, I´ll do it.

other than that for me, through the shit away!!!

    Glegolo

    glegolo

    you got a deal....

but you'll get only 500 thb....

    the trial out address is:

KRUA TUB-TIENG RESTAURANT, 48/4 Moo 1, ThaNon NarTaLuang, Trung, South Thailand....

when would you like me to set up the grand event for you....?

  9. Both XAU and USD are liquid investments. I don't see a difference between them other than personal bias.

And physical gold and physical currency can be even more liquid than electromagnetic versions. As well as off any radar screens scanning for something to restrict, tax or confiscate.

one can store and move only a certain amount of physical gold, USD or any cash currency. anything physical that cannot be hand carried and/or has to be declared when entering or leaving a country is not liquid but dangerously immobile.

i guess most of you guys are not really much in need of having to migrate legally or illegally to another territory or country....

having learned and witnessed a few of those difficult periods in human history.... i could very well attest that....

in time of trouble.... it is neither currencies nor gold that people in need crave the most.... not at all....

what is it then.... that people who are urgently planning to migrate want to possess the most....?

:partytime2: no, it is not usd nor euro nor silver nor gold.... :annoyed:

a great number of us won't reference it.... for various reasons....

  10. Thanks for the help to everyone!

I hope I'm not bothering but... I need some extra infos!

Can I drive with my own driving license? or I need something else when I'm there?

how's the roads there? should I rent a pick up or something similar? any serious rental where to ask?

thanks again... of course u'll have a big report when I'll be back home! eheh

    mat

whatever you do.... do not drive in thailand....

drivers in thailand are dare devils who do not understand traffic rules, regulations or traffic lights.... particularly the motorcycle riders....

for your own safety..... rent a car private care with driver or a new van, if you like, to get around the country....

you and yours will see many things that most tourists would not see nor experience....:D

when my son and his new bride came to visit.... i did just that.... and we had a grand time.... without any fatigue or safety factor to interfere with our pleasures.... :violin:

  11. Can someone please explain to me how Thai TV station filed law suit against another Thai TV in USA????

So if i was mistreated by say LG Electronics in Thailand i can file a law suit against them in USA? because USA court will award 100-1000 times more money then any Thai court

Either i did not understand the article or ..............

I think you may have not understood the article.

BBTV sought an injunction and damages against IPTV for advertising, marketing, selling and rebroadcasting copies of BBTV's copyrighted materials via IPTV's website, ThaiTV.tv, its satellite television service, and a distribution network that fed Thai and Asian storefronts throughout the US and elsewhere, including Europe.

BBTV is Channel 7 Thailand. IPTV was illegally using (stealing) their (ch 7's) signal and distributing it on the internet as well as on satellite TV in the US without paying for the use of channel 7's copyrighted materials. In other words IPTV was pirating channel 7's signal and content. I have a few friends in the US that have the satellite dish and receiver so they can watch Thai TV stations in the US...

ok, i am with you now, BUT both are Thai owned and operated company's so what does US court have to do with Thai owned business?

As article states they also suing in Thailand, but then is not that double dipping?

Not trying to be smart or difficult just trying to figure out how they managed to end up in USA court, cause rest assured in Thai court they will be lucky to get 1/4 of the amount

some twenty years ago, when thaitv first started in los angeles, the signal was good enough for thai people in utah to follow, and

the signal itself was carried by some international broadcasting company air wave.

the thai news was among vietnamese, cambodian, korean, chinese news boardcast, which was broadcasting around midnight.

the news content consisted of previous week news both from the thai communities around usa and canada and also news from thailand itself.

the news gents and ladies were students and thai citizen around los angeles.

there were many paid asian as well as some u.s. companies advertisers which kept the broadcasting afloat at the time.

the news reel was on thai airway weekly, from bangkok to los angeles....

the dissemination of information for thai people was much appreciated at that time.

biz must be multiplying since then.... so as to entice a court case like this....

  12. mike123

just look closely at the running ad on thaivisa....

there are many ad seeking to teach and coach native english speakers to qualify to teach english in thai schools.

my friend from england is completing one at the moment.

i was informed there were some 20 lessons to be worked on....

the cost is around 20,000 thb or an equivalent of about 600 usd....

all written assignments are completed thru internet....

    good luck mike....

  13. matteo....

    congrats and welcome to thailand....

it is an awful personal honor to be able to say.... welcome.... to someone who is coming to thailand for the very first time.... :jap:

january is quite a far distance away.... there are some 5 months in between.... you are very fortunate to have met a nice lady from thailand a year ago.... in italy....

i'll bet your heart is throbbing every time that her image comes to mind.... :)

you should be able to see all of thailand; eastern, northern, north-eastern and southern regions.... within 30 days.... what a lucky fellow you are....:P

will you be traveling alone or with her or with her.... and her chaperon (s).... ?

during my much younger yonder years, i traveled from chiengrai to penang with "her" and her three chaperons.... who were to examine me from my hippie long hair head to my dirty toes.... :ermm:

it was a very interesting and exciting trip back then.... in 1973.... LOL the roads were quite bumpy and adventurous.... we hired a white volkswagen van....

many young people nowadays do not have the opportunity and advantage like most of us, older folks, who have chaperons and such.... a week into our trip.... we all were doing THE TWIST.... on every dance floor we could find.... that was one of my happiest week of memory.... then.... she was untimely taken away by second-hand smoke in salt lake city.... our young college son and myself could only watch with horror the cruelty and pain of lung cancer.... however, she is still vibrantly alive in our memory.... and we do hope to see her again someday.... on a new earth....

at any rate.... as for you young romeo--matteo.... if you could tell us a little bit more about your young lady whom you are flying out to visit in thailand and her family circle.... then we could perhaps offer you a much more appropriate and exciting traveling schedule and such.... wanna do that for us, matteo....?

you surely deserve the best one month holidays with your lady friend in thailand.... and she must be just as excited as you are.... whatever you do--BE YOURSELF.... cheers....

    "20% and 30%, on 2 $20k AUS trades, in 3 months, is $40kAUS p.a - almost average wage in the UK. :)"

your including my capitol as profit? $4k on one and $6k on the other = $10k in around 3 months, barely enough to keep up with my viking lifestlye ;)

if i was renting I would be concerned

    edit

or were you projecting my next round of successful trades :whistling:

Indeed. If we extrapolate the rich vein of success you've clearly enjoyed posting about in the last 3 months, forward for the next 9 months, your well on your way to almost making the average salary in the UK.

    All very exciting :)

my former associate forwarded the following two pix....

may we all be able to do even better than this trader, down the road.....

    :whistling:

it is not luck, and it has nothing to do with luck.... the person spends on the average 15 hrs/day studying and fine tuning his tools of trade..... :whistling:

  15. According to the latest broad poll conducted by Bloomberg, Americans, except for those on Wall Street of course, have never been more pessimistic on the economy, despite the administration's efforts to push stocks to 36,000 by Halloween. In a nutshell, 63% of respondents confirmed things in the nation are headed in the wrong direction, 71% disbelieve Kool Aid pushers ( a.k.a. zorro1  ) and say it still feels like the economy is in a recession :o

Bloomberg Poll Finds Americans No Longer Drinking Kool Aid, 71% See Economy "Mired In Recession"

    http://www.zerohedge...mired-recession

In a way you remind me of another "perennial bear" who forever predicted Gloom and Doom - by the name of "Joe Granville". Joe had some amazingly accurate forecasts. However - according to "Hulbert Financial Letter" in the last 25 years had you followed Granvilles advise to the letter - you would have lost an average of only 20% per year.

"Never be married to any forecast - especially your own".

    parvis....

i guess you are a reasonably informed guy.... since you read hubert's....:D

  16. hey derivative traders no need to stop your chatter just because were on different wave lengths. I think a lot of traders look down on Penny stock traders as if its some how inferior , or thats the impression I got. Its very possible to double your money on well researched T/A and F/a p/stock all the undies of steel required. Im targeting silver as the general conception is its way undervalued ATM. Any thoughts on that here?

    i am with zorro1 here....

it really does not matter which markets you trade, which countries you trade in or how you trade....

it is always the bottom line that really matters....

perhaps, in time.... when many of us see your profitable trades.... and subsequently understand your positions and methodologies....

we too would like to venture out and join you and learn from you.... cheers.... :jap:

  17. INTHEPINK

as educated as you appear to be:

just how could such a statement be uttered that, ....I have nothing against farming families but if someone from the supposedly developed West is intellectually satisfied with a relationship like that then they obviously aren't all that bright themselves....

some how, you preconceive and concoct within yourself and your intellectual domain that .... no college graduate from any more economically advanced country would settle with a lady from a farming family in thailand....

and if one does settle with such a lucky lady.... then the gentleman, according to your postulation and thinking, is not that bright....

mine oh mine.... that is something for every educated person, male or female alike to ponder further.... if any of them even wants to communicate, associate or even interact with the lower caste.... or the less educated population....

INTHEPINK.... apparently you must be the brightest human on earth to have come up with such brightest notion and idea since creation....

i surely hope that you really do not mean what you said.... and that words are inadequate to express what you have in your expanding mind.... :(

as for myself.... i just love the farm ladies and gentlemen.... though most are not that educated and many are even illiterate....

but they are mostly genuine, loving, caring, sincere, down to earth and hospitable.... :D <sorry, inthepink, that i just have to disagree with your thought and expression>

  18. For those of you who also follow VIX - etc.

All 3 charts are of 9 days 5 min. Left is VIX - upper right is NYA - lower right is "Tick"

"Tick" at present show negative divergence.

    Parvis

Do you agree or disagree with this assesment from today ?

.... How do we know? Because the 50-day moving average has pierced the 200 DMA and the dreaded black cross is now taking place on the DJIA and the S&P 500.

It will soon take place on the NASDAQ and the Russell 2000.

We mentioned in a recent note that often times during the “death cross” a final rally takes place. That rally happens because prices have already fallen hard and are often due for an oversold bounce.

We believe this is that final rally before we see waves of selling and total capitulation take place.

When you see the VIX cross 50 then you'll know that we've just entered the capitulation phase . If we're correct, and we hope we're not, then we may see intense levels of fear like that of 1929, 1987, and 2008 "

    midas, the golden touch...

i'll be watching with unusual interest.... the materialization of .... intense levels of fear like that of 1929, 1987 and 2008....

most traders and gurus would not put themselves out in the limb.... but you did.... and i admire that kind of rare dare devil propensity and characteristics immensely....

i was around during 1975 crises and also 1987 as you mentioned .... with price freeze, hiring freeze, wage freeze et al.... it seems like yesteryear....

it was not the end as many predicted then .... and imho it won't be the end of current economic system now either.... most wage earners would be perhaps much leaner and meaner....

the worst news is.... there are already many waiting on the sideline.... just waiting for the opportunity to short.... and the same group again will be more than happy to go long again reacquiring what they unloaded a few short months earlier.... it is truly a dog eats dog world in this sense.... dreadful, awfully dreadful even to think of it....:(

  19. What about the damage done to the country, the hundreds of thousands of tourists stranded here and not compensated for their losses. I would call seizing an airport a terrorist offence

    ----------------

may i just add another tiny bit of recalled fact....

the charges of terrorism against the yelllows were drummed up by samark and somchai short-lived govt

in order, hopefully, to threaten off further demonstration against tuksin's remaining representives....

if we would recall.... the morning after the charges.... the govt press representative came out and announced further that....

according to thai laws.... traitors such as yellowshirts can be subject to execution to the 7th generation.... :o

now that was really really scary.... :annoyed:
