I am currently going through the process and having a nightmare.Submission of documents was okay, if not a little over the top.Proof address i used one house bill and a delivery slip translated into English my driving license as proof of identification ( again why this is needed when i am carrying my old passport i don't understand) all forms were excepted. Then we get to payment I have lived here for many years and the last time i renewed passport was using Hong Kong service which was using cash and painless this time not so much.
I used my Krungsri debit card to pay and the girl at the counter said it would be fine, it wasn't!!
After a week and no money be taken i thought i would contact the Passport office as they had not contacted me.There was a problem with payment, okay i thought i will change the card used ..let the hassles begin.
Many calls to the UK office before some one said they would get someone from the finance department to contact me within 4 hours no one did, more calls to the office going through the same call process being put on hold explaining the situation again and again to be passed around again and again to be told to wait for another call back which never came then to be told after I called back again late evening Thai time that i now have to wait another day for a call back. Now into the third day of trying to sort this problem.
Anyways i will have to wait again today to see if it can be resolved. The UK seems to have the most expensive and ridiculous system ever, friends from Europe and the States never seem to have this fuss.
So in closing my advice make sure you use a credit or debit from the UK to avoid this hassle and give your self plenty of time.
update: I called the offices again to be told a call was coming, again no call came. meaning yet another day waiting around for a call that seems will never come.It seems this process goes fine unless there is a snag then the nightmare begins.Customer service is terrible all steming from bad recomendation from their staff....very very annoyed and formal complaints are being written.

Am I missing something ?
Why was he not held in 2011 and his credentials checked, that could have saved later victims from this scum.

People are commenting like these acts only happen in Thailand.
Sure I'm a male, but I feel safer in BKK than I do in most other western cities I've visited.
You are safe here until your not.I see so many wondering around in total ignorance "feeling safe" Its easy to let your guard down when away from home as everything is out of the ordinary so you rarely notice when something is brewing.
These crimes are senseless and are sadly part of the world we all live in.
Remember people stay safe and stay aware.

The same and far worse happens every weekend in every town or city in the UK. Samui is no different and i would say if anything safer. I can only presume Australians don't get drunk and fight ever ?
You are correct, an assualt can happen anywhere in the world. The story is in the treatment of the victim and family after the crime had taken place. As for your sweeping generalzations about Australians and the UK, yes the guy was from Australia that does not mean he is a 'hard drinking Auzzy battler' be careful with sterotypes lest you become one.
The UK does have a major problem with drunken violence but has good policing and care for a victim. The lack sympathy on this site amazes me.

I have already had my bag stolen twice in the time I have been here, I for one will not carry my passport and will protest my case if caught and fined.
I would recommend you start taking care of your bag
Okay numbnuts.......snatched from my shoulder by a speeding motorcycle and stolen from luggage compartment on a coach, really my fault I appologise for offending you with my stupidity and feel i got what I deserved....when or if you become a victim of a crime I hope you reserve such judgement for yourself.

Actually, I would read Into this further.
Many Politicians around the world have seen the writing on the wall. The Thai military can do a better job of fixing it's own internal problems than what the Politicians can. Actually, a mess created by the politicians is being cleaned up by non politicians. Must be alarming for those fools as many of them could end up facing similar situations, one day In the future.
It's so amusing that half the countries on the list have more internal problems than you can point a stick at but their moronic leaders like to huff and puff their chests out and point in a different direction.
Really, the article should read, "Western douchebag Politicians get nervous".
Agreed. The West has such a great record when it comes to helping and advising nations in trouble just look at Iraq and Syria today (sarcasm). The sour grapes being tasted at this moment come from the fact they dont have a puppet politician in power what ever colour he/she was.I hope one day that the people in The Western nations have the nerve to stand against the broken political system that they have.Thailand has found a way out of a worsening situation it may not be to everyone taste but it seems to be working.

I see loop holes in this statement and my trust in the British government is at an all time low.In my home town they can not afford to keep the street lights on of evening and dont get me started on the audit of the disabled under the guise of benefit reform. It seems every time we get a statement proclaiming a new policy for the benefit of the people its because they have a doozzy of a reform just around the corner, give with one hand and take with the other.
I hope I am wrong but as always i will remain a cynic.

I saw the cctv footage yesterday. He calmly walked up behind her while she was seated with another male in Tesco Lotus and shot her from behind then strolled away. The cctv footage shows her still alive and maybe 10 seconds later the killer reappears and puts another bullet in her. Very disturbing.....
I saw the same video. It raised more questions, Why was a guy filming the video feed with a mobile device, it looked to me like more people than this nut job knew what was going to happen.Tradgic.

Just another off topic finger pointing session from the UK government. They have been doing this for years. They blame one group and then another all to keep Joe public from focusing on the fact they are the reason the economy is in the tank.
Cut backs on benefits, inspection of those that receive state assistance which the majority have been paying into through high taxes all their working life.Although the propaganda would have us believing no one works anymore and just live from claiming welfare.
Where did the money go?
That is in an easy one. They (the government) have been robbing the country blind for years. They manipulate policy to favor those companies, banks, etc that they have an interest in.They prop up a corrupted system.
The British people (of which I am one) need to wake up to the rot that has set in before they all end up like Greece.
The topic of paying pensions to wives of Britons outside the country or of different ethnic/National backgrounds is a test case, if they can do it with one group they will do it to all.
Soon the country will have a welfare system that benefits no one apart from those at the top handling the money.
Enough already! its time people stood their ground and showed the British Government that they are there to serve the public not lord over them.
sorry rant over

You have two computers running?
If so all you need is a network switch, a network cable and a hdmi cable and for convenience a wireless mouse and keyboard, away you go.I have four computers at home 3 desktops and a laptop .All of these are networked and sharing enabled this has enabled me to have internet access on all TVs along with access to all HDs so watching movies is easily done through the network connection.I find this is the cheapest and most adaptable way to achieve internet TV.Along with the bonus of massive storage capabilities, being able to upgrade all parts of the system with no major issues gives me some "future proofing"(if indeed such a thing exists).

The target was to be soi 4 but things got out of hand and they had to make a run for it.
Reading the latest you could be right. It looks like an interrupted plan and a panicked escape. The politics aside, false flags and all the other stuff doing the rounds now, lets just all be careful and keep our eyes open.
stay safe people.

It is exactly what the good American has been warning about. Get it.
My thoughts exactly
VFS staff told us to change our visa application
in Visas and migration to other countries

VFS service is polite and easy but seem to be unaware of many things.I was recently advised to use a Thai debit card to renew a passport, I queried this and asked if it would not be better to use UK card .I was assured that the Thai bank was better because my address was in Thailand, then the card is declined in the UK and all sorts of long expensive phone calls and a week of waiting and calling everyday finally got it all sorted by paying with my UK debit card.Just take what they say/advise with a pinch of salt and deal with UK offices directly not this third party VFS nonsense.
