  1. This program was a joke so much so that I wrote to points view lets hope they air my message dry.gif.

    Dear Points of view

I have just made it through one the most terribly misinformed and bias Tv showsi think i have ever seen, Thailandand tourism the truth BBC 3 was a sham of a program an unabashed forcing ofwestern views on another culture.

Your presenter was wearing such heavily rose tinted glasses I am sure she didnot notice a thing going on around her.

She had no conception of Thai culture and should have maybe focused on theforeigners them selves, the majority that visit the country show little respectfor them selves and even less for the native culture.

This is the attitude that local Thais learn from the so called civilizedwestern countries and is causing more harm to the society than development.

Thailand is a growing country and badly needs that growth; the down side to growthis that some one will inevitably lose out.

Her constant comparison to European destinations showed her lack of insight didthose places not have native populations that have been forced out oftheir homes due to development?

Did the new development not bring wealth with it to those people?

Thailand is still relatively new to all of this give the country a chance to catchup.

Please BBC if your are going to produce such programs on such a subject havesome one who has a little more knowledge of the country.

Yours looking forward to less pandering programming

  2. I think any move that shows they are thinking about the problem here is good but I have to say this country being what it is how much of that money will (if they get it, 83k) filters down to actually hiring teachers will have to be seen to be believed.

I know there are many excellent and dedicated teachers here who deserve a much needed increase or chance of increase in their salary.

This is also good for the government school system as it provides more cash for them to compete with hiring against private schools.

  3. You can easily open an account with K bank with a debit card visa attached to the account, you can then make the same card usable as a web shopping card and get online banking for it also.normally you only need to let them copy your passport.I and many of my friends have this and it took no longer than 30 minutes to open the account.

yes I recommend K-bank they have good service and the internet banking is very good also.

  4. 11mm gun - sounds Russian - not saying that it was a Russian of course

JoHnBKK ; 11 mm guns are commonly use for the Police officers and as well as the Thai soldiers ... They are quite big and can make a severe damage to the body..... To kill someone, I rather use 11 mm cos' he/she will have no chance or surviving.... ( = 0):guitar:

what ! "if I were to kill someone I RATHER USE 11MM" ......gees what a comment.

will you pop up some firecrackers...........dude?

    what?

  6. So there's a Bungalow business up for grabs. Unless of course some Thai Lady happened to be the partner and she keeps the lot. At least it should see the Police bothering to visit Phi Phi and make a few enquiries. For example, ' Your husband just got shot. Any chance of the bungalow complex at discount? Oh, and where were you?'

No doubt it'll be yet another death by misadventure. The Police concluding that he ran into 4 stray bullets that happened to be passing at the time. It happens ...................... in Thailand.

If the Police found 22,100 baht then how much did they not find in the wallet?

And their amazingly vigilant response is not to cordon the scene, put up road blocks or gather witness statements, but it is to contact the motorbike rental owner and tell him him the bad news; bike's been crashed mate. Worse still he's dead so has got out of paying the over priced repairs. Falangs eh? And worse still the Police lose out on getting their share.

Life can be cruel. So can death.

But I admire the sensitivity of the Press. No naming or photograph. Well that should ease the family's grief at learning how he was shot and left to die from his wounds and that there'll be no justice whatsoever or arrest.

    Thailand.

It amazes me that you are still here in Thailand - I cannot find one positive statement or comment in your post, just plainly rude, insinuating and insulting, Hmmmm maybe not even 'plainly'! You have accused the police of stealing, his partner of colluding, and in general, Thais' and Thailand to be a Hell away from Hell. Why don't you return to the delights of whichever land you left and get mugged there, THEN complain! Why ARE you here? Maybe the guy had upset someone, that remains to be seen, but stop and think for a minute - you are upsetting many people! (Sorry Mr Editor if this is a bit of a diatribe - but invidious and bigoted people just anger me)

    well said

  7. Not one word of sympathy in the article for their Asian neighbors

To be fair, it's a news story, not an editorial. There have been no lack of expressions of sympathy, and journalists (including me) are naturally now turning to reporting on the long-term impact of this event.

I agree the timing of this article is much better than that of TAT and their press release.

  8. This countries comments and actions regarding this disaster are so telling , when the Japanese get back on their feet and things return to normalcy as much it can, lets hope they remember Thailand's contribution.

The Japanese have had close ties with this country over the years now it has been shown as a one way soi.

  9. Although the timing of this article stinks at least someone is looking ahead , Japan invest heavily in this region and this will have a knock on effect for the whole region.

There will be less money going into foreign economies as the Japanese focus on the rebuilding effort ,its good to know that some people in power are giving this some thought its just a little tasteless that the only agency to publicly mention this is the tourist board.

My thoughts are with those effected by this disaster and lets hope the numbers are no where near as many as 2004.

  10. Also the UK or any other country who has this information could restrict travel for these individuals, by canceling their visa, or refusing to issue one or requiring a stamp identifying this individual as a sex offender to alert any country that they travel to.

visa is issued by the thai consulate and nobody can cancell it, but the right to travel can be denied (as with a football huligans travelling abroad for matches - but hulligans are much easier to identify)

Huligans ? Are they are travellers who obtain their visa from Hull ? cool.gif

They are easy to identify ?

Could you give me some pointers in case I cross paths with one.

  11. Hi all TV members looking for something to do tonight, I have been to all the usual places and I'm looking for some where to go for a few drinks and some food along with entertainment.

I will be out with the wife so music or comedy would be good.
