  1. Found it... https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/songkran/songkran-to-be-cancelled-if-daily-covid-numbers-hit-30000-ddc
  2. Songkran in my village (Issan) has seen a increase in Police presence over the years during the Songkran 3 days. My next door neighbour got caught drink driving 8000 baht fine and off the road for 1 year, I saw him driving around the day after the ban. I enjoy the Songkran festival, but I know many don't, and of course many die. Thailand has one of the worst road death statistics in the world. The driving test is a joke for starters, and many don't even have a licence, not that having a licence makes you a better driver. A lot needs to be done to stop needless deaths.
  3. Christmas isn't a Thai observant celebration, but doesn't mean to say you can't join in !
  4. Please could you send the link to this official position please..
  5. No...it can be in different areas to, I am doing my Day 1 in Bangkok and the next in Pattaya, Useful website.. https://asq.in.th/thailand-pass
  6. I think the poster means large gatherings of people chucking water will be allowed to go ahead, including bands playing, been nothing in the last 2 years, or didn't you know that?
  7. One bar in Pattaya has had to serve food to open, my guess is yes they will, but not all.
  8. In my village anyone who is wearing one of those Hawaiian shirts is going to get soaked, in my village its only 2 days.
  9. The reason for me going to Thailand is to see my 10 year old daughter, we haven't spent a Songkran together for 2 years now because of the Virus. All my hotel bookings are refundable, I can't see the point of the Day 5 test as after the first one you are allowed to travel anywhere in between tests, I am hoping they do away with it before I go, I am not going to Thailand specifically for Songkran, it would be nice to celebrate Songkran with her, my house is in Issan so it's nothing like the Songkran in Pattaya.
  10. Just booked a flight on 6th April, Thailand Pass took 48 hours, anyone in the know?. I would be happy of they dropped that "Day 5 RT-PCR Test" Thanks for any replies.
  11. What a nightmare..and the insurance won't pay out....put's me off going completely.
  12. Very good point, I think we will get separate rooms just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the advice.
  13. My experience was a good one, of course there will always be the odd 1 or 2 bookings which go wrong, as with all companies, no company exists with flawless reviews. I have looked for such "scams" with Test and Go bookings, with Agoda, and found nothing... please can you send me a link. Thanks
  14. I used Agoda for my last trip for a hotel booking and PCR test, no issues , I have been using Agoda for many years, please provide evidence of this company being a "scam" by the Thai Government...Thanks.
  15. Thanks for the reply, but when I go onto Agoda and put in 2 people it only ever says 1 PCR test, I will book and see what happens. Thanks.
  16. Me and my brother are going to Thailand on April 6th, we will most certainly need a PCR on arrival, hoping day 5 will be scrapped by then, can we share a room? As all the booking sites with SHA hotels allow 2 people in one room, but only 1 PCR test being mentioned. Thanks in advance
  17. Just got back from Thailand. All went well with the process at the airport, had to wait about 20 mins before immigration to show a very nice young lady all my paperwork, she seemed more interested in my Samsung Flip phone more than anything. Got to arrivals, looked like a biological warfare site, all the workers in PPE, utter chaos sorting out who is going in what minibus.About 30 mins later, I was put in a minibus with another Thai lady who was going to the same hotel. On route to the hotel, we stopped off at a Hospital to do the swob, another scene of chaos, eventually did the swob, I asked "how long it would take for the results"? and she said "about 12 hours", I was hoping it was going to be around that time, as I had a flight out at 8am the following morning. At 11.40 pm 7 hours after arriving, I got the all clear and was told I could leave the hotel if i wanted. Food at the hotel was delivered at my room door in containers, someone knocked and run away every time, no one was ever there. Very sad to see the arrivals at Suvarnabhumi Airport, everything has shut down, no where to change money, or get data on your phone, so bring some with you.
  18. Totally agree. My partner's Mother died, and I need to get over there ASAP, I haven't seen my Daughter in 2 years. The first part I Submitted on the 26th Oct, got a response in 3 hours, they rejected it, they needed to see a flight date, so I thought this was going to be a quick, so I booked a flight, and 1 night AQ in Bangkok, for 7 days time (London to Bangkok Emeriates £488), 2 hours later I got a response saying "Your Transport documents have been recieved"..then it went quiet. Literally, 4 hours after posting I got the COE, so the whole process took 4 days, waited 3 days for result. I get the impression they deal with the people who are flying first, I have heard people waiting 15 days for the COE, they obviously applied too early. I would recommend at least 7 working days for the London Embassy. Flying Tuesday, Covid test permitting.
  19. Go to Agoda, and type in Bangkok in the search bar with your dates, and a pop up should appear saying "Do you want an AQ Hotel" loads to choose from now..
  20. Get the feeling they leave it the last 4 days before departure, as the Covid situation is fluid, and laws change seems like everyday in the last 12 months...
  21. Just got mine 10 mins ago..such a relief, you will get yours today...
  22. All the above,I booked mine on Agoda, the cheapest was around £95, includes transporation, Covid Test, 3 meals, and hopefully a happy ending! ????
  23. Yes mine is a 1 night AQ in Bangkok, just can't get to speak to anyone at the Thai Embassy in London. I need to book onward travel from Bangkok as I have a house in Issan, I don't want to lose anymore money if I don't fly.
  24. Tried calling I was 39 in the queue, I waited 45 mins and gave up. Did you do the COE with just 1 night AQ? I was told they are excepting that.
