Are you talking about Single Entry or Multiple Entry Type O. Both available at Hull - but for how long? And at the Embassy in London by post or in person.

Thinking more about the Re-Entry permit option, if I get Non O Single Entry visas from Liverpool for 90 days, that will leave 29 days remaining when we leave on 61st day and return 4 days later. We then stay for 53 days so the extension plus a 30 day extension at Immigration in Khao Lak seems to be a viable option.

sorry for not replying sooner, i dont have instant access to a computer.

you can get a multiple entry type 'o' in person at hull and by post or in person in london.

this info was correct on thursday. i will phone again on monday.

  2. excellent report, thanks for taking the time to share it.

just one point. am i right in saying that you can only get on the international bus from mukdahan -savannakhet

if you already have a valid loas visa i.e. you did not get one before hand in bangkok.

as is the case if you want to board one in either khon kaen, udon thani or nong khai when heading to vientiene.

there is also a loas consulate in khon kaen, usualy in and out in 15 mins, if you happen to be in the area.

  3. i got a double entry tourist visa at vientiene no problem. submitted on monday 2 nov. picked up on tuesday 3 nov.

    previous visas,

triple entry tourist issued in london,

ed visa issued in vientiene but cancelled after four months,

triple tourist issued in london with the thirty day extension at the end of each sixty days.

a couple of people i spoke to also had no problem getting a double tourist visa.

i did not ask about the new METV visa, the lady looked far to busy.

i think it will get more coverage than the new james bond film!

    overtime payment at friendship bridge.

when i crossed into loas from nong khai on sunday 1st nov. at the friendship bridge.

and after completing immigration on the loas side, i was not allowed to go through the electric barrier

and was sent back to a booth just as you get off the bus, to pay an extra 50 baht before i was issued with a key card

to allow me in to loas.

this is an OVERTIME payment for people who work on saturdays or sundays.

excuse me if this has already been posted but i have never seen it before.

  4. i phoned hull a few days ago, 3/7/2015, and actually spoke to Alan Taylor. who is the consul i believe.

he informed me that this visa is still avalable for u.k. pensioners when they reach 65,

on production of the letter from D.W.P. no minimum required.

50GBP for a 90 day and 135GBP for a multiple entry valid for a year.

with the multiple entry you do a visa run every 90 days and if you go

a day before the "use by' date you get another 90 days, in effect giving you 15 months.

i hope they dont change the goalposts on this one as i am hoping to apply next year.

probably at london. you can do a 'walk in ' at hull to get one.

    questions,

have any other readers got the said visa in any U.K. consul?

would it be possible to get the said visa in a neighbouring country,

    i.e. vientiene in loas, etc.

thanks in advance for any feedback,

    jerry.

  5. i have been keeping an eye on this thread for my own situation.

i recently decided to stop going to my thai classes whilst on my first extension.

even though i was departing thailand from chiang mai, my school advised me that i needed a letter

to take to immigration to say i was cancelling my extension.

they dated my last lesson on the day my extension ended.

a few days after i would be flying.

in and out of immigration in an hour, no problem.

and no problem when departing chiang mai.

i then got yet another triple tourist visa in london,

the only question asked when i re-entered thailand,

was how long do you wiswh to stay for?

    answer 180 days.

i always respect ubonjoe and mario's knowledge on all things visa,

though i was happy to go to chiang mai immigration first just in case there were any issues.

  6. i remember coming back through the bayof biscay, homeward bound on my firsrt trip to sea.tuning into radio luxembourg and hearing "with a little help from my friends"

me and my young mates could not believe he was a white guy from sheffield until we saw him on top of the pops.

the live woodstock version of "little help from my friends" in my humble opinion is the best beatles cover ever.

also check out "bye bye blackbird" from his first solo album with a stunning guitar solo from jimmy page.

    r.i.p. joe.

  7. my baby's come back home! my stolen bike has been returned.

many thanks to cnxbkkman, i have sent you a p.m. and also to ted (of tiger teds coffee shop, next to maya plaza, check it out) who was the thai who phoned the cops.

and called me to say the bike was now at the police station.

i have lots of photos of me and all my new mates from the c.m.p.d.and my recovered bike.

i was always confident that i would get it back.

thanks to jeff for lending me a bike in the mean time.

    apologies for not replying sooner.

i dont have a p.c. at home at the moment and also had personal issue to deal with.

keep an eye on your bikes or whatever when you leave them unattended,

    happy cycling,

    jerry.

  8. have a look at .sombat tour. i have used their busses many times to hua hin and back and i find them very comfortable.

also they have their own bus depot in bangkok, a few k's before mor chit. its on a main road with plenty of taxis going by.

    happy travels.

  9. hello, it was my bike that was stolen and as my neighbour says i was "modded out". i did post a full description of the bike and a photo but was advised that it could not be posted because of rule 22, which i am sure you are all familiar with..

the c.m.p.d. arrived on the scene and took details. i later went to pra sing police station with a photo of the bike and to sign some paper work.

the case was assigned to a detective who was going to have a word with the some of the local "dodgy geezers".

i was most impressed by the chiang mai police in the handling of the situation and they seemed genuinly concerned that i get my bike back.

unfortunatly the only real witness is not saying anything, the dog that lies outside 7/11.

i am the eternal optimist and feel that i will get my bike back.

thanks to the people who have offered to loan me a bike in the mean time.

take care when leaving your bike unattended.

    happy cycling,

    jerry.
