  1. Sorry that you having to go through all this BS man . Some time luck of the draw you get some one on the phone who actually is problem solver but very rare I will admit. But very glad your were able to get the life save op and are recovering. I am quite sure thing up here will loosen up with vax supply as more and more start coming in. But being in a immune compromised situation with cancer and chemotherapy I understand your frustration . And even though I live fairly close to you am in no position to offer rides as only have a small bike and have been taking taxis through out all my treatments. But if I hear any information that might be helpful to you and your situation I will certainly let you know . All the best Randell

It will be the Red Shirts that lead the way against the thugs in control.

It's already a Red Shirt   leading the most violent faction of the protests. There are the students and those grassroots that are marching peaceably and those that only join the fray for a fight. At least that's my take on it when I watch the news it certainly looks like two separate groups with very separate intents.

  3. Went to my local hospital this morning Aug 10(Wiang Chai) according to my appointment schedual and paper only to be told no vaccine please come back tomorrow. So Will let you know if I am successful tomorrow. The down side is if I get Sinovac instead of AZ which is what they are insisting all get in the boonies. It will nullify the ability to use the expat app. as it states only available if you have not had any vaccine. But so far I haven't heard of anyone getting a vaccine of any type yet. It may have started I just am not aware.

  4. An update from yesterdays confusion. I can either have two doses of Sinopharm or one Sinovac followed by a AZ with the possibility of a future booster which didn't seem to be and option with the Sinopharm deal. Again this is just from my small local hospital but they are in full swing injecting the old and infirm  first but I saw all ages there waiting patiently in the production line.

  5. I was scheduled for my first AZ shot on Aug, 10 At the Wiang Chai local Hospital just got a phone call saying it will be Sinovac followed by second shot of AZ. I'm not happy about that but something is better than nothing at 70 with co-morbidities. From what I can gather from the news lately is that the Sinovac is quite ineffective especially against the Delta variant hopefully with the second sot of Az it will provide some better protection. To be followed by a booster when other come available. As I said I am definitely not happy about the switch but am not going to turn it down either.

  6. Well yesterday the 22 got my 6 chemo treatment at the Chiang Rai Government Hospital and all the staff are scared witless as 36 of the doctors, nurses and other medical staff tested positive and are now out of action and quarantining at home and none she told me in the whole hospital have had any shot what's so ever. Now this is coming from a  professional nurse but I could prove it validity just take it for what it is up here  in the hinterland the rollout is going a glacial speed. I have been trying for some time to use the app to no avail have it down loaded and have had family members try and negotiate the site but no appointments for me yet. age 70

I had a pair of authentic adidas golf shoes bought in the UK for £55 and was using them in Thailand for 1 month when both soles came off . Took them to a local Thai cobbler who re-glued and also stitched them and charged me Baht 400 , seems you got away cheap . They were never a problem again and lasted me another 18 months .

My main point on this "Trainer " topic is not only the kudos of having an expensive trainer but I am more interested in comfort underfoot , lightness of the shoe and cost . As mentioned earlier there is a massive markup on trainers mainly because of street cred to which I am not too interested , however if you are a regular runner/ walker I guess you will always opt for a tried and tested reliable trainer . I am only looking for a day to day reasonably priced non sport leisure trainer for comfortable walking around the shops etc . I generally look for a decent heel padding and a deep underfoot cushioning along with a light weight . Have to say that in the UK an outlet named JD Sports sell reasonable trainers starting at £20 and a good range of sizes . Majority of provincial Thai shops only seem to stock shoes to a maximum size of 44 and to get a larger size its a visit to Bangkok or maybe a large city . Maybe as already mentioned Lazada may be worth a look although I did look there once and the larger sizes were out of stock .

As i live up outside of Chiang Rai and never go to BKK. I would appreciate any input on shops that sell the larger sized I am a 14 UK so something like 48 to 50 Thai sizes. I can't find anything on Lazada that is accurate. the last 48's I bought and returned  were  totally knock offs and about 4 sizes smaller that advertised. So if any one could put me in touch with any shops that actually sell Uk or US large  sizes  I would be very appreciative.

I use Calimoto in conjunction with Google Maps. Calimoto is a free app and I have it on my phone (Android) and my computer (Windows) and once you create an account it will log your rides as well as let you plan new ones.

This is a log of the tracks/trails we've ridden on Samui...the darker the blue the more times that track has been used.

All rides are logged individually, this is our last ride on Friday...

  9. I can remember in the very late 80's and early 90's in Phuket. The photocopy concession was always run by immigrations wives just like the water and any snacks. Immigration was also who you paid to send your passport to the border for and extension stamp with the  menu sign  of fees well post on the main wall. They did VERY WELL.. But it was efficient and a major time saver and worth the price. Although you did have to put up with the God like attitude.

DLTs are open but not for 5yr license extensions as this requires viewing a 1 hr video as 'training' in their office which they are not doing. Absolute nonsense as 2yr and 2yr-2yr extensions don't require 'training' RTP confirm lapsed license ok till 30 june but I am having difficulty getting Muang Thai to confirm it's ok with them. Actually I am having difficulty in getting Muang Thai to answer customer service lines or respond to emails!

I was able to renew both my licences to a 5 year in CR. yesterday the very last day of the year long extension. My licences expired on April 20 2020. It took less the two hours. Just a color chart and peripheral vision test. 500baht + small processing fee for the car and 250 for the motorcycle. 760baht in total. Very happy to not have to retest and start over with another 2 year licence. Very painless and I spend far more time in hospital lineups so grateful. This was on the 19th last week. Although it was converting a 2year to a 5 year it was also out of date by 364 days. but not problem  quite smooth.
