  1. Hi Monty,

The Wimax base station is on top of the big high rise hotel on the Mekong, it has about a 20km range, then it’s a satlink up and down. ETL offer ADSL2+ (unlimited but shaped after xyz Gigs), this to is then up/down via Satellite.

Out side Vientiane it is overall very slow, the general consciences is Plant Online is by far the fasted, but I don’t know how fast the actually go and how reliably they really are.

  2. I have to spend some time in Laos, I have been researching broad band around Vientiane. I plan on using Planet Online as my main one, the 256Kbps - 2048Kbps* 20GB a month package. What speeds do you really get? And then back that up with a ADSL2+ line from ETL.

Does any one have any experience with Planet Online, reliability and real speeds international? How are they in rain? I under stand that all net up there is satellite from the base station.

    Thanks

PS, I know this is Thailand, but I also know this is a very good forum and someone might know exactly what it is like.

  3. Hello Jeffer, You are quick to assume I am a teacher. What makes you think that? Please tell me why you made a post assuming that?

Actually I don’t care to be honest. I am a student Jeffer, it is to my financial disadvantage when Air Asia Cancelled that flight. It was not delayed, but cancelled. If Air Asia cancel it, why can’t they refund it on request, instead of having the attitude of stupid white bullalow.

I am fed up of getting ripped off by Thai’s.

  4. Terry, I was in CM trying to get back to BKK. Air Aisa cancelled thier service, I also factored in now dealing with BKK rush hour which I had planned to avoid. I had classes at a school that actually runs on time with some western managment. I was forced to buy another ticket with another ailine. The manager for Air Asia in CM was simple rude person. I will do every thiong I can to let people know about this compnay and the attitude of their staff. I know that I can cost them alot more money on the net than they stole from me.

  5. I am banging my head on a brick wall with Thai Air Asia, I bought a ticket from Chiang Mai to BKK, to Depart at 1225 today, around 8am I get a message saying that there is no flight and it's now 3pm.

I was getting absolutly no where on the phone to Air Asia, wnet to the airport, the man there, the "Air Asia Boss" he calls him self and says no refund, the plane is broken, there should be a 3pm flight. I have commitments in BKK with a forign compnay that ruins on western time, not Air Asia time and thats just cutting it to fine, even if the plane is fixed and departs at 3pm.

I have just bought a ticket on another company unfortuntatly, So, any ideas how to go to a higher authority to get a refund. Thier policy stinks. Cancell the flights but refuse refund beofore the fact.

    Any Idea would help.

  6. Bangkok Bank ATM did charge me 150bht on 25th April.

I amlooking ath e Baht, just kept so strong through all those bad news strories last month, even getting stronger in thel ast 4 days, with it being as export economy why does the Thai Central Bank hold it at an uncompetitive level. Effectivly, intl torism is also an export in a way.

Of course, LOS will keep bouncing on. I feel a little sorry for the innocent 'poor' worker being laid off though.

  7. Now a group of White Shirts just tried to attack me, they were armed. :o

With Yellow, Red and Blues, I like my local WHITE shirted ladies from some local bars that just attacked me with super big water guns. I got revenge and their thin White cotton shirts just changed colour and looked much better than Y-R-B shirts when saturated with water, much more fun :D and the shirt changed shape too ....

    This could maybe solve everything.

Gettie up bar BKK bar staff :D:D:D

  8. Like the previous PAD negatively publicity, Airport closure, this is really bad for the Thais that even indirectly make an income from tourism and foreign investment. This has been the lead story around the world all day. Unfortunately future tourist would think that the whole city is chaos and out of control instead of just little tiny pockets. I hope for everyone, this is sorted out quickly and safely.

The British Gov travel advisory today.

“In view of the deteriorating security situation anyone considering going to Bangkok should urgently review their plans”.

Australian Gov travel warning to Thailand.

We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution because of the high threat of terrorist attack and because of political instability in Thailand.

Also, British Airways has made alternative arrangements for passengers traveling to Thailand on BA if they wish to change there plans.

    Some ugly video footage

    Anyway, back to Lolita's :o

  9. On BBC worldnews, defiantly full sized tanks, with red shirts doing vioctory dances on them with wood and steal bars in their hands. The Army guys had big smiles, welcome to LOS !!!! :o

Looks like it will be a new difinition of 'low season' this year. A real shame for the silent majority. ( I don't mean majority as in Red or Yellow shiorts, but the people who's jobs are going to be hit hard, who would want to invest in this joke)

  10. BCC is reporting, “Tanks been Hi-jacked on Bangkok streets by Red Shirts”. They are showing footage of red shirt people jumping all over the tanks and seen to have control of them. BBC reported the tanks were taken over with no resistance !!!!!

So there are now tanks in Bangkok streets under the control of red shirts. It’s kind of comical. I wonder how much tea money to the tank drivers????

  11. I entered Thailand on an Ed visa on 13 Mar 2009, ( last month ).

I live and study in Bangkok. I am going out of country for a week.

So I go to immigration in Bangkok, and pay 1000bht and get a re-entry permit. Easy enough. Being only a month since I first entered and going out for only a week, do I still need a letter from the school?

I was told but unreliable sources that each time I re-enter Thailand that it sets the clock back to zero for the 3 months, so effectively if I went out of the country for other reasons every 2 months I wouldn’t need to go to BKK immigration to do an extension there, I just could do it at the border. Is this true?

Typically, how long does it take to get the re-entry permit from the immigration office in Bangkok? When I did an extension in Chaing Mai on a tourist visa I was in and out in 20 mins.
