  1. A little off topic, I have seen the skytrain continue operation duing some very exciting thunder storms with lightning strikes everywhere. I presume the Thais thought of this. Has there been cases of an "unlucky" skytrain?

  2. Alot of the programs have been dubbed into Thai, like Discovery, Nat Geo, ESPN.......... They advertise them in ENGLISH, I would have assumed like in some other countries they have English Nat Geo, the orignal program and Dubbed Nat Geo. I can't find this. I have called 6 times, allways they can speak English well enough to say someone will call me back at 5pm. When I signed up, the person who answered the phone spoke very good english to do myapplication stuff. I get the feeling these people are a bunch of lyers. TRUE internet, they lie even more when trying to get info out of them.

Not my problem when Thais have no job later in the yeah. The mind boggles.....

Anyone know if htey have English Shows like this?

Picture qualitly is fine for me though.

  3. It's an ethernet cable. No Idea what the number mean!!!

On that computer when I get to >Network Connection> nothing pops up like on my other computer. (Like Local Area OCnnection, or Wireless Connection ect).

When I right Click on Network Connections, I get a little box with OPEN / EXPLORE.

Left clicking on it or on OPEN Opens up a page NETWORK CONNECTION, with create new connection etc down the left hand side.

No luck yet on that computer. I am bamboozed by this :o

  4. No way around leaving every 90 days with a multiple entry.

Once you enter the country what happens with your visa does not matter it only gives you permission to enter the country. After you are in the country it is your permit to stay that counts. You can keep extending a permit to stay for infinity as long as you can meet the requirements to get an extension.

    Thanks for you great information,

I was told by a staff member that if I choose the multiple entry visa, that instead of a visa run every 90 days, I can pay 1900bht and report to the local visa office instead. It's my choice.

With a single entry, I understand the 1000bht re-entry fee, is there a fee every 90 days for extension of stay?

    Thanks for wonderfull information. :o

  5. Hi,I copied below off the net, can anyone comment if this is true for Multi Entries and no intention of a work permit as I have no desire to work in Thailand? IS i really this easy?

    Australian mid 30's.

"For long-termers looking for an easy visa solution, the 3 year Non-Immigrant B visa may be the way to go. It goes for around $US 350 and essentially means you can come and go into the Kingdom for 3 years without any visa hassles. Some of the smaller consulates cannot issue it but all the embassies should be able to."

  6. I presume we are talking split systems here.

I am no Air Con Guru, do they just clean the dust filter in the unit inside the room, or is there another filter outside in the compressor.

I don’t know f there is a filter out side to clean, but if there is, I could only imagine in BKK how filthy it would be with pollution.

    Any tips are very welcome.

  7. OK,

You can get some Dyner Bolts in Home Pro Sukhumvit. ( odd side, past Soi 1 away from soi 3). I went in there again last night and the poor salesman guy reconsied me and draged me over to show me his new Dyner Bolts. (I bet they were out the back the whole time).

I am not very famular with BKK compared to most here. Home Pro has by far the best selection of hardware requirments I have needed so far. Up on some higher levels you can get condue tubing for plumbing, (the staff wont tell you this of course :o and I used for a temp solution some wodden shelving on another floor. There are some staff there with good English, but slightly 'clue-less'.

To get Plywood, I would be incliuned to pay a local maintance guy in the building to source it. I must remember I am downtown in a huge city and this stuff is probibly in the Thai suburbs.

  8. This is the Google tranlated page of that prevous link wit the pic of the victims face. Google now has Thai translation or sort.

Emmm, Rest in Peace, what a sad day for his family and friends when he is identified, lets hope the police get enough pressure to actually solve this case and the correct animals responsible get their day on the bridge as well. Rest in Peace.

I believe the Thai Poice are on Monday after noon now didtributing photo's to hotels in BKK trying to identify the victim.

Condolences to his family and buddies. I as well can't belive the 'gobble trob' of some of the speculators here.

  9. I was reading a comment on the stickman site this week, be it as he says only rumours, of new visa rules for westerners in newspapers, does anyone have any creditible info on this?

It is kind of timely for me !!!!!

    Quoted from Stickman

"Indications from the mainstream press have it that the visa situation for Westerners visiting Thailand looks likely to be made a little easier. There are numerous rumours about just what the new rules will be, but for sure, the government seems conscious that tourists bring in much needed cash and they want to make it easier for tourists to stay longer. One rumour has it that the 30 day visa waiver that Westerners are entitled to will be extended to 60 days. The other rumour has it that visa waivers (that's the stamp you get in your passport if you didn't apply for a visa at a Thai embassy or consulate before entering the country) could be extended for 2 months in country which would give a total time in county of 75 or 90 days. Currently a visa waiver can only be extended for 7 days in country at which point you have to leave."

  10. I am trying to find out a few answers re a 12months ED visa for Thai lessons.

They say I have the choice of a Multi Entry Visa that will give me freedom to come and go as I like, or a visa that I will have to get permission before I leave Thailand that cost 1000b a trip.

Any idea on the cost difference for an Australian? The school didn’t know.

Can you confirm that a Multi I have to do a visa run every 3 months or I can go to the local immigration and pay 1900b instead.

On the Single entry I still have to report every 3 months and pay 1900b and when I go out of Thailand I need permission to keep the visa.

    Thanks Folks.

  11. I read somewhere, possibly this forum, that they had cable internet in Pattaya. I can't remember reading that for BKK. Apaprtently we now have True Visions via a cable. I guess I will just have to wait till I get to Thailand soon.

  12. Does True have cable internet in Bangkok, Sukhumvit Soi 11 area or only ADSL?

I am thinking Cable would be good and then have a back up ADSL (possible other company) on a phone line as a back up.

I am also confused by True Wi-Fi. I am wondering if it is like a weak very local (internet café` or hotel) kind of signal you just pick up with your laptop or is it city wide coverage that you have a special modem to pick up the signal and then plug your laptop into that. I am wondering if in Bangkok True Wi-Fi would be a good back up. I need access to the net 24/7.

We have True Vision UBC TV connected via CABLE, I Am not in Thailand right now and it's hard to get an answer from them.

This is a old True link form 3 years ago suggesting they have a decent coverage.

  13. I have been wandering through many forums, but I don’t have an up to date answer.

    I am Australian.

If I enter by air through BKK I get a 30 day visa exception, how long can I extend that out for if I go to a domestic immigration office and pay the 1900bht?

What if I cross via land, 15days and how long can that be extended for?

Can I still get a double entry 60day (extended by 30 for 1900bht) tourist visa from Vientiane these days?

I am not looking being there a real long time, but I do wish to explore, hang out, and it would be nice to rent a room for 6 months so I have a base in Bangkok to keep my stuff ‘safe’.

6 months is what I am kind of thinking, and I want to visit Laos when I go to northern Thailand.

  14. Yep, Sign Says 200bht

I took a pic of it but cant post it here.

    I said"Meet Every FLight"

They were there when I got off the Early morning Air Asia flight, and when I went back 10 mins later the bus had gone appartently. I don't know if I was the only one interested in going and then they backed off or if it had in fact allready gone.

Then I think there is 10bht over the river between to 2 border post, then good luck dealing with the

laos tuk tuk drivers into town, by memory about 15km.

  15. From what I can read on Forums and heard for several IT nerdie buddies TOT is BKK is bad news. I worry that TOT will let the CS FoxInfo down.

Do they use TOT in Bangkok?

Does anyone know if you can use CS FoxInfo on other phone lines, or does it have to be on a TOT line?

I am on Sukhumvit Soi 11.

I also am after some help with TRUE WI-FI. Is this like little short range hot spots like a wire less router that I can pick up on my laptop or is it city wide coverage that has several kilometers range that you need a special modem to pick up the boradband signal then from that to your laptop.

    Cheers
