  1. You can buy a return (two single trips) on Air Asia today for 7000bht BKK-KL-BKK.

IF you go today you should be waived the 500b fine I believe, but have to pay it on the land crossing. (This is for 1 day only by air).

You will get a red overstay stamp, but worry about that later.

Visa runs are common in this place, nothing wrong doing them. Make sure you have your other ticket as well, they may want to see it, Air Asia I mean, and make sure you have the print outs on you.

    Good luck. :o

  2. No where in the coverage area does it mention it's only in Chaing Mai under the heading of 3G coverage area. There are more sign up place in Bangkok, and the 3G sim must be activated before April 08 2009 to get the promotion. Why would a copmpnay in their right mind do that if they have no service signal in Bangkok? Surley they are not that stupid and are trying to rip us off?

    :o

Be the first to sign up for 3G service at Central World, Siam Paragon and in Chiangmai. Step over to a new realm of technology and experience Hi-Speed Data Service with data transfer capacity up to 7200 kbps, 45 times faster than normal telephone standard. With 3G service, download of information and various applications has never been easier. 3G service also brings video calling right to your mobile phone. Give your friend a call and see where your friend is hanging out.

To enjoy these call rate and exclusive privileges, your One-2-Call! 110 Baht 3G SIM must be activated during April 1st - 8th, 2009.

One-2-Call! 3G SIM Outlets and 3G Coverage Areas

    1. AIS Shop and AIS Serenade Club in Glass Elevator Zone on the 4th Floor at Central World Department Store.
    2. AIS Future World on the 4th Floor and AIS Serenade Club and AIS Mini Shop on the 3rd Floor at Siam Paragon Department Store.
    3. AIS Shops and Telewiz Shops in Chiangmai.

  3. I am on a Ed visa, single entry, I believe I have to report to immigration every 90 days and pay 1900bht. Is this correct?

Do I need any letter form the School I study at if this is the case?

To get an 1000bht permission top leave Thailand for a trip, do I need any paper work for that?

I live in Bangkok, can I get this at the peace bridge border crossing to go to Laos?

    Thanks

  4. Before you go to the office, I would see a few replies here. I would hate to see you deported unpacked for a overstay when you could have had some clever option.

Or get legal advise, couple of links who speak English up top of this page.

PS, I don't know the answer to your question, but I wouldn't be surprised if paying a fine and crossing a border and back would do it. I hope one of the Guru's here can help you. Try to avoid useing your ticket back home, I would be worried that they might detain in the immigration office and deport you on your return ticket. If you have the coin, overstaying in Thailand is not the end of the world.

Remember, land crossing back is 15days, maybe you just need to plane your next trip with another border crossing, or a quick trip to Laos for a couple of days to get a free 60 day visa, it's a great trip up there anyway, maybe better to deal with it at that border?,, or a 2000bht trip to KL each way. (often the cheapest option when factor in Visas).

If you are back packing around the world, and you get a big red overstay stamp, put your passport through the wash and get a new one in the UK Embassey, places like OZ, USA, NZ will treat you very dimmly when you try to enter as a proven high risk illigal, with over stay stamps.

    Good luck

  5. http://www.pizzamania.co.th/fullmenu.asp

Had a pizza recently from Pizza Mannia, I am not sure where they are, but it's Free delivery in the Central Sukhumvit area, and to there credit, it was at my door in 30mins. The driver had change too which is a pleasent change. Thay have Itialian thin base pizza's with a good base, but lacking very much cheese to my liking. I thought that corn on the Hawian was a bit yuk as I don't like corn but other wise OK.

I am not going to rush back there, but I will probibly order agian at some point, I am just going to try other pizza shops. Nice change from Pizza Company.

Note the real price is 50baht more than the price list on the web and the price list they give you, this was a bit annoying, but TIT.

  6. What is "Knorr Seasoning" in the old post below?

    ==========================================

buy some pita bread, spoon some tomato sauce/paste/spaghetti sauce on it ...season, sprinkle some cheese, pepperoni whatever and season...stick in oven/toaster oven

it will be better than most pizza places in thailand..not all but most.

i like putting bell pepper/onions/ marinated pork on mine....the juice from the pork/pepperoni will seep down into the cheese and give it more flavor

that knorr seasoning works wonders... oven on hottest setting, prewarm it.

pita bread and pizza bread are in the same family.

    try it youll like it

  7. I am looking at going to the Thai Embassy over Sankran, well go to Laos anyway.

I believe that the public holidays in Thailand are 13,14 & 15th April, so I expect it will be closed on those days.

I have been told that Laos public holidays are 14,15 &16th April, so I presume it will be closed on the 16th as well. Is this correct?

I was also told that Many places will be shut down up there 13-16th any many taking the 17th off, gone home for the week.

I am deciding to go to the Embassy before or after the water fights. At least there will be beer there, (and lots of drunk driving too I imagine, but hope not).

  8. In Post #18 I linked some info to the RV082. I don't know much about this stuff, but it doesn't seem to be the best at it. As I find out more over the up comming weeks I will post here. Below is some info from a review.

    http://www.retrevo.com/search?q=Linksys%20RV082&rt=oa

"Another interesting feature is that the RV082 lets you connect a second Internet line as a backup to insure that you're never disconnected from your vital link to the Internet. Should one link fail, the other link is capable of keeping you hooked to the net. Of course this assumes that you have something like a cable modem and a DSL connection or two of each."

"As useful as that is, the RV082 has another surprise up its sleeve, which is that it can also use both Internet ports at the same time, and let the router balance the traffic. The RV082 may not be particularly intelligent as a load balancer, but you can enter some basic numbers about how much bandwidth you want to use as a watermark and if the bandwidth exceeds that number the next connection goes out on the alternate link. Not exactly the 16-flavors of load balancing you'd get with a BigIP or an Alteon, but not a bad idea for a device with a street price around $275 (as of this writing)."

  9. I am also after Backup. My TRUE disconects me about every 2 hours, be it a quick one, but takes several mins to get every thing going again. Normally I doubt I would ever notice, except that I havea data feed that logs that for me and of course when running that other program. I am thinking TRUE 4meg (possible 8 in a few months which may mean 512 in reality) which I have and Loxinfo 4meg and buy a router like below. I cut & paste some info and the links I got the info from.

Note $355Aussie is 8800Baht plus freight and 30% extortion by the Thai Gov. But this was just a idea for pricing.

"No, not if you expect to be able to in some way utilize the bandwidth of both connections. You will require a load balancing dual wan router in order to accomplish that.

I use a Linksys RV082 router for this purpose, and it quite effectively lets me use the combined bandwidth as well as providing automatic backup if one line goes down" .

  10. I am looking for online English learning resources for a Thai girlfriend to learn better English. She can speak English well, but doesn’t have a deep understanding of the meaning of many larger words. Also, spelling is no good at all. In the short term, it’s not convenient to enroll her is a school due to moving around a bit.

I know there are heaps of online resources to help learn Thai for English speakers.

At the moment, she uses Google translate to help her, spending many hours on it, then gets bored and destroys my bandwidth with YouTube. Any tips would be great.

  11. I read in the local tabloid trash that TRUE and AIS is also doing 3G this year.

I presume like in real countries this will mean geniune wireless broadand across the city.

DTAC article below (copy & paste) :o

  12. I got done 30% for my electrical goods which included a printer & scanner, I had my laptop on my person. To Value them the typed the model numbers into a computer, (no idea what program) and I got charged 30% on new price plus 200bht a day storage and a few other minor fees. Defiantly get it bought in on you. Note, I was as a tourist with an onward ticket 2 weeks later. I should have learnt my lesson about the Land of Scams then !!!!

  13. I am going to Vientiane to activate my Ed visa the first time. I have read that Mondays are a silly day to go due to visa run groups on Mondays.

I am about to book flights, I am trying to make sure that this week, (week starting 8th March) that ther are no public holidays that will catch me out.

Is it a 2 day event or can I get the ed visa and passport back in 1 day?

Is Tuesday or Wednesday particular bad days at the moment?

If I get the 7am flight to Udon, I should get to the embassey by 11am that day, I would hope.

Oh yeah, I read on TV that you have to go to the consolute, not the embassey in Laos, can anyone confirm this?

    Goof.

  14. I know this is a elementary question for most here, but….

If I have a USB hub with external, (just a cheap one) I understand that will give me more USB ports (holes) to plug USB gadgets into for that computer. That works fine.

I have several computers and 1 printer. Would it work if I plug the 3 computers into a 4 port (hole) hub and the hub into the printer so I could just press print on one of the computers and it would happily print, or would the computers start talking to each other and mess it all up?

    Thanks

    :o:D
