  1. ........

Tony's on 3rd rd is an excellent gym, plenty free weights, plenty machines, could do with a bit of TLC i agree but a lot better than all these plastic gyms like Fairtex and CalWOW where people go to pose and NOT train.

Sorry, can't take a gym that offers short-time rooms (380 baht?) seriously.

  2. Deputy PM demands urgent action on Pattaya Jet Ski Scams and Bar opening hours

PATTAYA:--The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Police Captain Chalerm, held a meeting of Police Officers from around the region at Nong Nooch Gardens in Jomtien on Monday.

    Full Story:http://www.thaivisa....-opening-hours/

A bit confusing as I reckon most of the jet ski scammers are redshirt supporters.

    .........

and how did you reckon that?

  3. i think i will never see a price like that in pataya

    .....

There was no proper view so I didn't bother.

.....and that's why it didn't sell, plus throw in the fact of a desparate owner. Getting back to the OP's question, despite the perception of a condo glut, sales of condo's are brisk and developer's are encouraged to build even more. With the costs of materials, labor and especially land here in Pattaya increasing dramatically, don't expect the big correction in the condo prices some think here is long overdue.

  4. What is the point of those Muay Thai gyms? Do these Thai instructors offer any meaningful training at all, or just hold the pads up for the falangs who just kick and punch away till they are out of gas?

The instructors are ex-boxers and teach stratedgy too. The are not just punching bags. There are pictures everywhere of Thai champions who have trained there.

  5. "Rather than buy several condo's why not investigate one family house with private pool.

There are many on the market at much reduced prices....."

Use a little common sense and ask why all these houses are available at depressed prices with just about zero chance of appreciating in the near future. Remember you can't own land here and could easily fall prey to some scheme to buy these houses. Could you be a realtor or trying to dump your house?

  6. His personal condo owes him 4 million. He bought it as an empty shell but fitted it out with 5 star fittings. The second condo he paid 4 million as well for it,

4M is way over the top for VT7. Somewhere between 3 and 3.5 would have been closer to the mark, even at inflated Pattaya prices.

Not necessarily, it really depends on the quality of the built-out. Some renovations are done with with rental market in mind and it shows. I can hear the racket from the construction noise as I type. Cheap construction in my opinion; the original vt7 ceilings and bathroom, no kitchen exhaust duct, etc., everything cosmetic and easy on the eyes but not quality. He'll want to sell for nearly 4M but not worth it (more like 3M). The 5* build-outs will ask for 4.5M and apparently are getting it.

  7. gk10002000, As a former Etrade customer and current Schwab customer, you are making wise choice.

Richsilver, Be sure to let TMB know what happened. That security guard I always felt was a little too friendly and I have had to ask him to step back so I could conduct my business.

  8. What is the fastest and most reliable InterNet connection when living at VT7? Cost is secondary; speed and reliability #1. No air cards or outside wifi hotspots. Office wants to sign you up for Jomtien cable TV. Is that ok or is there something better? These questions are specific to VT7 only, thanks!!

  9. Had lunch there today with a friend. Very slow service. Food was fine, but his lunch took over a half hour to come. He was completely finished before mine came out. The place was not crowded. I saw some friends there at another table and they said their food took 45 minutes.

The wait staff looked quite clueless, running around asking each other questions about every other thing. It sure looked like they had never been trained and they seemed quite perplexed with the computers. My friend's bill was wrong, but they promptly corrected it.

They have been opened about a week now and it seems to me they should be doing better than this. We were all greatly looking forward to their opening and I sincerely hope they do better.

Agreed. The service is sub-standard. The staff is smiling and friendly but spend valuable time trying to figure out the computer system. One waitress was writing the order on her palm with a pen and then transferring the order to the computer with the assistance of 3 other staff. The layout of this restaurant is awkward and does not encourage efficient service. The food was good but not special and the portions were small considering the price.

  10. ...)

I had a Bangkok Bank B1st account before, which was really easy to setup and use in Thailand, but I thought it was rather limited regarding paying abroad (afair it was a debit card which was supposed to work with Thai ATMs only), online-banking, and transferring money from my home account.

    Should answer your question:

  11. went over to the samsung shop to purchase a 10.1 and saw that the 8.9 was in stock...the sales guy said it just came out a couple days ago. i ended up buying the 16gb white 8.9 wifi+3g. they had the 850mhz model and the 900mhz model. both going for 17900 baht each. he also said that there will be a limited edition one coming out next week with a black rubberized back..

Anyone seen the black 10.1 yet? Would like to get my hands on one of those somewhere in the Pattaya/Rayong area...

    Cheers!

    /Lengis

Just about all the shops on the 3rd floor at Central Mall in Pattaya had the 10.1 in stock. Around 18,900 THB for the 16GB with Wifi. Some shops had UK models and other had HK models.
