Last time I was there, I made 2.4k SGD a month, rented a room for 600, had a fairly good time going out once or twice a week and still manage to save around 30-40% of my salary. You people make me laugh with your "western" lifestyles.
Dudeyone - please feel free to show me ANY post in this thread where I say I want a "western" lifestyle - but then again you probably haven't even read the thread let alone post #6 where I say:
In terms of lifestyle we live 100% local lifestyle - I have no concerns over western food as long as my wife can get to a market with fresh produce she'll be able cook up Lao food as she does everyday. With a 1 year old you can probably imagine we aren't exactly party animals - so just a few beers a week is about all that covers it and eating out would be once or maybe twice a week. But hey don't let they stop you posting utter junk for no reason. So when you're grown up and have a family I guess you'll all be living in a single rented room will you or will Mummy and Daddy support you?
Why would I in my right mind take a job on any less than I can command? I have got over 15 years experience in a specialised field to take any job to be paid a pittance for the fun of it!
I ain't talking about you. In fact I was on your side since you said you can live like a local. If you can live like a local on that salary, you will have no problems savings more than 50%. You'll live like a prince, not "depends". Singapore is expensive, but not expensive like these people describe. That's what I was on about. I see no idea why you had to start being out of line by the mommy and daddy junk paragraph.

Does this include mobile numbers?
Just checked it, only a few countries for mobiles. Not worth it for me.

No worries, mine is scratched badly and has a crack on the screen.

Quick check. Post office open today in BKK?

Ah I ain't really good with hardware and for sure not electronics so anything I dissemble with surely not fit back. So just go to Fortune IT and tell them my problem and a few hundred BHT will fix it?

So my iPhone got soaked during some Songkran madness. I am trying the rice technique and drying it out a little to see if it works. If it doesn't, where can I get it fixed in BKK? It's a first generation model, no warranty and all that. Also, how much roughly?

State of emergency.... no more massive gatherings of waterfights? Should I even carry out my water gun tomorrow?

This thread is giving me some good ideas. Can't wait to fill up buckets of ice and pour down people's backs. SONGKRAN!!

Okay, I just woke up from 6-7 hours of sleep using the Amitriptyline I was talking about. I feel down, moody, don't feel like talking and semi-depressed. I think these meds are screwed. Needless to say, I flushed the rest down the toilet. I ain't touching these again.
-
I did not want to go down this path but my joints are aching and i had not slept in forever. The doc just gave me some amitriptyline 25mg, you probaly know it as elavil. Going to take one and see how it goes. Anybody have experience on this?

I have trouble sleeping sometimes. I never sleep 7-8 hours in a row but rather wake up around somewhere in the middle to take a piss and then sometimes I have trouble falling asleep again as my mind gets active really fast. I need that solid 7-8 hours. Can I take anything to assure I am knocked out good? I have never tried anything for sleeping purposes before because alot of people tell me I can get hooked and dependent on them to fall asleep in the future. That's a scary thought. Perhaps there is something mild & OTC to consider?

Any suggestions on how to get a lil plastic holder for phone and wallet? Or I'll just be using a small 7-11 plastic bag.

I have to get my photocopied Malaysian ID "notarized". I think it's certified by someone or something. Do embassies do this? If not, where?
If you a foreigner in a country the only place to get any documents (Malaysian ID) issued by your country notarized or certified is at your own country's embassies.
I have done it a few times at te Malaysian embassy at Sathorn. No charge.
Thanks buddy. I just did this, but was charged 200bht a page.

The oldest falang story in Thailand.....I have a friend who needs proof his Thai wife is cheating on him...can anyone suggest a good service or investigator please?
I am interested. I can follow the wife, take a taxi and ask him to follow the cab in front, and finally take photos of her meeting other men.

I live in Lat Prao, BKK. Where's the nearest place I can go to extend my tourist visa? Anything I should bring and how long would it take? I wake up in the afternoon, can I go then?

Weird, I called a Visa Run service and they told me 15 days. They say I would only get 30 days when crossing Malaysian border.
