Hi!
I have driving licences for both car and motorcycle that was issued the first time in 2005 were I got a 1 year driving licence, then I waited until it had already expired before I went to the (transport department?) and renewed it as they gave me longer time than usual if I waited until it had expired (I got 11 years validity when I extended).
Now it will expire again in August, how do I do in order to get as long renewal of the driving license as possible?
Thanks in advance!

Hi!
I really do not want to do this. However, I have found a condo in a building where the foreign quota is already filled and wonder how it works to purchase the unit in a company name?
1. What kind of taxes do I have to pay? Amount of tax is calculated on what and how frequently do I have to pay taxes?
2. Is there any other fees that I need to pay as a company owner?
3. Is there anything more to think about?
Thanks in advance!

@elviajero, Thank you!
I would need to stay at least until July. Therefore I wonder.
1.If I cross the land border will I then get a 30 days visa on arrival at the land border?
2. Can I just cross the border or do I have to stay overnight in Cambodia in order to be able to get back in to Thailand with a new visa?
3. If I get a visa at the land border, is it also extendable for 30 days at the immigration office?

Hi!
I am a 30+ Swedish guy who is on a 30 days tourist visa on arrival and have some questions.
1. If I want to extend my stay in the kingdom, do they count from the day that my permit to stay expire in the passport or do they count my new 30 days from the day that I visit the immigration office?
2. If they count from the last day that I am permitted to stay how many days before can I be at the immigration office?
3. After having my one month visa on arrival and after that extended with another 30 days at immigration, can I make any further extensions at the immigration office? (I heard that I can get another 7 days for a 1900 baht fee) or do I have to leave the country?
Thanks in advance!

Just, came back from there. I saw a big change since I was there 4 years ago. They have really developed and have much more things than before, regarding all that many foreigners want for eating and cooking food.
The prices are much cheaper and the people that live there seems much happier. Just some reasons that I found on my trip but it was only for 16 days, so sure I can be wrong.Hi!
I also just got back from a 2 weeks holiday in Cambodia. I must ask, do u own a business there and trying to increase the customers base?
It is soo, much cheaper there? what is cheaper? Alcohol and cigarettes are cheaper. Transportation and food doesn't seem cheaper at all. No 7-11 means that it was hard to find any 1.5 liter water in any tourist areas for less then one usd=35 bath. here in 7-11 the price is roughly 13-18 baht depending on brand.
Minibus for 220 km was 12 usd = 420 baht also much much more expensive than Thailand.
It is possible, but hard to even get the tuk-tuks moving for less than 2 usd= 70 baht. In Bkk you go a km in a aircon taxi for 35 baht.
Hotels seems to be almost same price as here, but I still guess that Thailand is slightly cheaper in that regard as well.
The only time I ate street food in phnom penh, I was charged 7 usd= 250 baht for 2 noodle soups and an one small water and one ice coffee.
So please elaborate on what is so much cheaper in Cambodia?

The outside bar is still there, just further away and smaller then previous years. Opposite side of the bike parking on the corner. I didn't find Panda Rider though, a disappointment..

The Tracer is on sale at the bike show in Central World now. Price 479,000 B Feeling very tempted!
But also very scared of after sale service from them. Anyone have any experience regarding Yamaha after sale service in BKK to share?

Hi!
Planning to drive around a bit in the country and thought that this topic must interest others too, so I will not only ask about the island that I plan to go to but rather about every island.
Which island can I bring the bike to by ferry easily?
I know Koh Chang in Trat you just pay around an extra 100 Bath and bring it over.
Koh Samui is also easy, just put it on the normal ferry don't know how much extra one has to pay though.
But what about the others? I guess it is possible to bring the bike to many places but with a lot of hassle and extraordinary expenses. Please share our knowledge guys.
How would one bring a bike to Koh Samet?
Koh Maak?
Koh kood?
Koh Phangan?
Koh Tao?
Koh Chang in Ranong?
Koh si Chang?
Koh Lanta?
ETC.

All the Shoei and Arai I have ever tested in Asia has been round. I guess they would take that decision on the fact that 95% + of their customers here would have a round head:)
Daveboo, Shuberth worked fine for my long head. However, too little airflow for my liking. Have you ever tried Nexx helmets? Seems really good: http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/nexx-xr1r-carbon/ they have them at Panda rider.
Also, webbikeworld have head-shape section on their web page. not sure how it works with Asia shapes though.
Good luck

When I transferred a bike to my name from another foreigner they were quite serious about the the previous owner's VALID visa.
True a VALID NON immigrant visa is a must to buy or sell a bike. My friend once tried to give a Land officer 10,000 baht so that he could sell his car when on a tourist visa. It was declined. Now 7 years later he waits for his pension visa in order to be able to sell it...

Hi again!
Just remembered that I read quite a few complains that the windscreen on the Ninja is not tall enough for tall riders, meaning you will get a lot of wind in your face/helmet. Not so comfy for the long rides, so take that in consideration too.
Well... the screen on the Ninja 650R is a good bit taller than the one on my ER6n...
It's actually a pretty tall screen, but the bars are unusually high which can make it feel short. I've got a set of sport bars on the way that should get me down out of the elements And there are tons of aftermarket screens available- touring, double bubble, etc.
Happy Trails!
Tony
Hi Tony!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Yheep, the screen sure is taller on the Ninja then on the er6n, wouldn't that due to aerodynamics just make the wind so much rougher in the face if it is not tall enough to send the wind above the head?
The fact that you, who could not be called a tall rider, nope not even in Asia are modifying the bike to get out of the wind rather emphases the point that it would be good to take that into consideration when deciding what bike to purchase. Especially for the ones that lack the will and/or the financial means to immediately start to modify the bike.
Cheers

- Better riding position...(i am 1.82cm, and 95kg), a little worried the Kawa will be on the small side for me.
Hi!
I'm 188 and the same amount of kilo as you.. Yes the ER6 is a bit on the small side (perfect for bkk traffic though). For me it is all ok except for my knees that I think is a bit too much bent to be comfy on longer rides.
I been thinking of highering the seat a bit, something I would rather do if I were you instead of buying an "old" Ducati without a green book.. I also heard that the Versys have a kit to lower the footpegs 2.5cm, if they have that for er6 too, or if it is possible to fit the Versys kit it could become a quite comfy bike even with your size:D
Anyone know if this kit is out there for er6 too?
Good luck whatever you decide!!

Thats good to know. Phuket wants 13,000. Don't know the details tho.
Hi!
The reason Phuket wants 13000 B must be that they offer Siam City Insurance and not Falcon/Lockton. Bkk offer both, even though they seem to be pretty much the same, if I don't missmind myself the Siam City Insurance doesn't have the 5000 deductible, but the Falcon is soooo much cheaper so I would go with that one anyway, sure Phuket shop can get it for u if u ask them.

I payed my er6 with a debit card at bkk showroom, no extra charge was added...

Hi!
Now I just read : Note that there may be a difference between American and European cable mat. What does this have to do with the slip on and how does this effect our thai version of the bike?
Have to admit that I do not understand a shit about bikes as soon as they get more complicated then my old Suzuki K 50.....
Any ideas what to would suit the Laser exhaust good? Is there any competent garage in bkk who can fit the parts together and fine tune it?
Cheers

Hi Tony!
Scarico just means exhaust in Italian, the brand name is G & G and is Italian.
Laser is from the Netherlands. Same as your ancestors, if I remember correctly?
Anyways, I was going to buy the Laser system from USA as it is around 300 euro cheaper then in my country, but got skeptical if it is such a good idea when I read that the exhaust which is made for U.S. market have no outlet for the O2 sensor. Guess your solved it by welding one on to it? Or can u put a resistor on there instead of a sensor to lurk the system?
What is the best power commander or other tool to adjust air/fuel ratio? Is there and garage in bkk who has a bench, or are able to adjust it good anyway?
Cheers

Hola!
Back in Europe and thought that I should take on the possibility to buy some cheaper parts to tune up the engine a bit:)
I realized that I could more or less say good bye to the engine warranty if I mix with it, I can take that. But does anyone know what will happen with the insurance?
I have the Falcon/Lockton insurance. Does anyone know if a few more horsepower changes the validity of the insurance?
Cheers

Up dating the tread a bit as I'm running out of time to buy the stuff & don't want to upgrade the bike if the insurance becomes void.
NormanW thanks for your reply, don't really help me much though...
Does anyone have a more knowledgeable answer?
Thanks in advance!

Another thing that might be worth knowing, that they told me when I was over at the Kwaker shop, is that if your replace the muffler with an after part muffler the warranty on the engine will not be valid!!

If any one is interetested i finally maneged t get a manual in English from Rama 9.
the part number is 99976-1426
It is a fat one as it is mutilingual - English / French and German.
Had a couple of interesting bits in it - worth getting
Cheers kev
How many Bahts is that?
Dropped by at Rama 9 this week and believe it or not I got the manual for FREE!
The great service just kept on coming & I also got a refund, 245 Bath from the registration procedure
More so they were eager to give me a plastic holder for tax paper, and bolt it up together with the number plate.
So it's sad to hear that the service level outside the capital seems to be so poor in comparison..

Renewing of car and motorcycle driving licence
in Thailand Motor Discussion

@KhunBENQ, thanks for your reply.
I might not be in the country when my license expire, how long after expiry date can I go?
What happens if I go now? 5 years from the day, I go if I go before expiry date?
