How much do the average Thai person earn ?
SymS replied to Baron Samedi's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Some of my real life experiences: * Government worker in Lampang with bachelor degree, 20 years experience: under 15K per month. * Government officer in Chiang Mai with 20 years experience, bachelor degree and some responsibilities, around 45K per month * Person working from home as a translator for oversea clients, around 150K per month * Owner of tourist van company in Northern Thailand, around 300-400K per month during Thaksin, and much lower now based on the rant I heard a few years ago. * Random girl with 5 foreign "boyfriends", around 100K per month plus benefits and occasional side jobs. -

When will the drownings stop? Another four young children die in weir in Surin
SymS replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I just had to look up what a weir was... But I remember getting a bit to close to one in Indonesia, in a place for tourists where they rent inflated tires to swim down stream, and the current close to the weir is quite strong. Locals started shouting and waving hands, and I managed to reach the shore despite by poor swimming skills. The weir was two or three meters high, and falling on the rocks on the other side would have definitely hurt or more. -

SymS replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The law is not specific to Chinese, just anybody with 40 million Baht spare cash for investment, plus the funds to purchase land and a property. -

Will the Thai authorities ever tighten up on entertainment licenses?
SymS replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They probably don't need to tighten regulations, as it seems the nightclub in question broke those. They just need to make sure those who breached them as punishing according, or in other works not a 500 Baht fine and a wai, and instead compensate the victims and/or their family by a few millions Bath each, and possibly some jail time depending on the case. If they start adding regulations each time a problem occur, we end up getting thousands of documents with questionable usefulness, delay in application, corruption, and so on. -
