  1. Hi all, great to see this topic... I have been searching around here for a topic on Chinag Mai FC and managed to miss this one for a long time.

CMFC doing well, would be great to see them go up. They signed a strategic alliance with Premier League teams BEC Tero, Sisaket and Div 2 Central region team Ayutthaya. At the start of the season CMFC (and Ayutthaya) set the goal of promotion using the alliance with the Premier League teams. Phuket FC did the same with a partership with Muangthong which seems to be working well. This is just the start of the professional Thai league, I hope we see these cities work their way up to the Premier League. Most of all it's great to see a new football culture in Thailand.

I keep the fixtures updated on www.thaileaguefootball.com apologies for the sometimes incorrect fixture details.

At the start of the season they are released then as weeks go by they can get moved around with no notice, only the sequence of games is sure. I'll keep an eye on the CMFC details and try to keep the info current as there is a decent following. Good to see the club play in the metropolitan stadium, you can get a great atmosphere there, then move to the big stadium when you move up the ranks and have several thousand fans on a regular basis. Looks good in this video

So home matches played at the metropolitan stadium starting at 6pm, here are upcoming fixtures -

    28/3 - Kamphaengphet H

    3/4 - Pichit A

    10/4 - Prea H

    *17-18/4 - break

    25/4 - Sukhathai A

    2/5 - Tak H

    8/5 - Nakhon Sawan A

    15/5 - Phitsanoluk H

    23/5 - Chainat H

    29/5 - Payao A

*End of first leg of fixtures

  2. Top of the table FC Phuket are at home again today (Sunday), taking on Pattani at Surakul Stadium. The match kicks off at 6pm.

Last Saturday was brilliant, the team played well and the support was great - thanks to the Storm Riders for making us feel welcome.

The team will only get better as they get used to playing with each other and this should be a fantastic season for all concerned.

    Cheers everyone,

keep supporting the mighty southern sea kirin

  3. What teams are there near to Sukhumvit as i will be in Thailand every other month from now on and need a hobby and watching live football seems like a good idea ..... only prerequisite is they cant wear any red on their shirt.

Probably Bangkok United is your best bet in Dindang - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=4317...5572&ref=ts their match this weekend has been postponed due to the red shirts, but should be playing again soon.

    and........ they wear green!

  4. Bunch of matches on this weekend, but none in Bangkok as expected. details on www.thaileaguefootball.com

four matches will be televised this weekend.

16.00 Navy Rayong vs TTM Pichit - True Sport 2

also Div 1 and Div 2 matches on (here is current league standing of div 2 - http://www.thaileaguefootball.com/index.ph...867&Ntype=2 )

  5. I don't think this Thai league soccer stuff should be encouraged. The last thing we need is the soccer "hooligan" culture to take root here. There have already been riots at Bangkok games and betting scandals with Thai mafia involvement in throwing of the games.

I think you should do a little of research before you make statements like that... even better go to the game on Saturday then post us again and let us know if your concerns are warranted. :)

  6. there is a group on facebook - "Phuket FC supporters clup" also a FC Phuket blog on blogspot. looks like interest is increasing so should be able to find a group going easily.

here is a pre-season article on them written by James (FC Phuket on blogspot.com)

Phuket FC were formed in 2009 and compete in Division 2 (southern section) of the Thai league along with teams like Krabi, Trang and Hat Yai.

Phuket FC play their home games at the Surakul Stadium in Phuket Town. In their first season they finished second bottom with only goal difference keeping them from the bottom of the table.

Lessons appear to have been learned from that disappointing first season and Phuket FC now have a new coach, Arjhan Songgamsub, who has been taking pre season training at the FIFA Pitch in Cape Panwa.

Phuket FC also have several new players and have benefited from a link up with Thai premier league champions Muang Thong Utd which will see several Muang Thong Utd squad players represent Phuket FC this season.

The squad have been training together every single day since October and should be well prepared to make a better impression when the new season starts in March.

  7. The professional Thai League Southern Region - FC Phuket - Going into round five - 1 Win / 3 Draw / 0 Loss

full details on the league www.thaileaguefootball.com

The Southern Sea Kirin are in action once again at Surakul Stadium this Saturday.

In their last match, they drew 1-1 away at Chumphon and their previous home match resulted in a deserved and historic win, when they overcame Nakhon Sri Thammarat by 3-1...

This time out they face league leaders Satun Utd who have won 3 out of their first 4 matches.

We need your support; the Thai FC Phuket fans have got their act together and we need to do likewise. Hoping to have something to identify the supporters group before too long so we can congregate.

Kick off is at 5pm, usual meeting place: Roxy Bar in Phuket Town. Suggest meeting at 15:30 for beers, otherwise we always end up being late for kick off when we meet at 4pm.

Hope to see you all there. You can now purchase FC Phuket shirts from the club shop.....

    COME ON YOU GREENS....

  8. Was reading though the posts. Is there any more news on the new Chiang Rai Stadium ready for play in 2011? What will it's capacity be and are there any pictures of the plans?

good to see the interet going strong in Chiang Rai, good luck next week. I am really hoping to see Chiang Rai make it to the Premier League 2011.

  9. It's all been building for a while here, the crowd numbers have exploded over night. If these two clubs played eachother 12 months ago you would have got about 300 people at the game. Last night there were about 15 000. It's all unprecedented, the security are naive hope they learn lots after that.

Many updates on the situation and the league here... http://www.thaileaguefootball.com/

Crowd Violence at the Kor Royal Cup

A horror night for Thai football at the Kor Royal Cup. The match was abandoned in the 80th minute when Muang Thong scored their second goal and violence erupted in the crowd.

Thai Port players thought the 2nd goal should be disallowed due to a handball. The Thai Port fans started to throw bottles and fireworks into the ground. The match stopped and the situation got worse when a Thai Port fans broke the fence and attacked MTU fans, some jumped off the stand to run away.

With small group of policemen and security staff, the situation were uncontrollable. The fighting was getting bigger. Some Thai Port fans destroyed stadium property and were trying to burn down MTU flag.

Pichet Mankong, President of Thai Port FC asked the fans to stop the violence through stadium speaker and so did Thai Port players. It went on for approximately 30 minutes until Thai Port fans finally calmed.

President of Thai Port announced to take full responsibility. The team forfeited to Muang Thong United. Ong-art Kosinka, Secretary General, Football Authority of Thailand urges for a harsh penalty handed to Thai Port fans. There is possibility that Thai Port fans will be banned from the ground in future matches.

The video tapes of the match will be collected for consideration.

Reporters said some Thai Port fans carried weapons into the ground.

Sasom, the coach of Muang Thong attempted to help the situation, but also momentarily lost is temper at the Muang Thong coach after a brief discussion with him.

Some Munag Thong fans have been injured as they were assaulted by groups of Thai Port fans, the extent of injuries are yet to be released.

The Thai football community await the response of the Football Association of Thailand. Many are calling for Thai Port to be banned from representing Thailand in the upcoming AFC Cup. Conflicts of this seriousness have never before occurred at Thai football matches. The crowds are famed for their sporting and inclusive nature. As the popularity of Thai football booms this disastrous night brings a decisive moment for the way football will be run in Thailand.
