  1. Anyway, it wouldnt help TESCO to go down more and more and loose here in Phuket. Supercheap is not really SuperCheap but CHEAP is the most important word here. Thais are loving it, so do the Farangs and there are more and more convenience stores of this company. Fortunately SuperCheap has it all.....while since Bangkok Flood many of the LOTUS shops have nothing or not all like usual.

But OK, Tesco is making much money with the Russians at the moment....guess 18 out of 20 Farang customers are from Russia....they dont eat in Restaurants, they dont visit bars, they buy in Lotus and cook at home....

Anyway, nice effort but first Tesco should educate its staff not to hand out 2 bags for every item (((:

I frequently see Thai and Farang customers asking for more plastice bags even after the staff has given then more than they need, but staff should be educated.

  2. I used to love flying to Thailand, to visit the friendliest nation in the world. It alarms me to see Thailand turning into a second Africa, where nobody seems to worry about our large and serious crimes

Don't condemn all of Thailand, Pattaya & Phuket are the A holes of Thailand, most of Thailand is not like Pattaya & Phuket, but I also don't walk around late at night in dangerous areas with 16,000 Bath on me, it is a good bet he was at a bar and someone saw the money and followed him.

  3. Come on get real. The great advantage Thailand has is that it has accomondations for the backpacker and for the 5 star travelor. You can spend as little as 1000 baht a night and have a nice, basic clean hotel room or go to a five star hotel and spend around 5000-7000 baht a night which would be double in places like New York and Tokyo. You can eat at the local stalls (and not get sick) or go to an international chain and spend as much as you would back home. If one thinks Thailand is expensive, try Singapore, Beijing, or another big Asian city. True, Thailand is NOT as cheap as it use to be but maybe that has to do with the US dollar and Euro not being as strong as it use to be.

I had a nice basic hotel room with free Wifi close to the beach for 600 Baht in Malaysia.

Can I ask where in Malaysia was this room ?

  4. my parents were going to visit us in thailand this xmas until i told them the

exchange rate, they are now going to malaysia and we are hoping to go visit them

there , .....i spend most of my time here in rayong, the average price of a beer

on entertainment street is 120B !!,...... for a small one , thats nearly £5 per

pint !!......... its becoming like the UK now , i buy from the supermarket and

drink at home or on the beach , the average thai on 275B per day , they have a

    choice,.eat OR drink !!!

Don't know how you think Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur is less expensive than Thailand, Bangkok, Malaysia is three times more expensive than Thailand, the taxi don't have metters they quote whatever they like, don't think you can compare Malaysia people to Thais, Thais leave them for dead, the only thing Malaysia has going for it is they all speak english, been there four time, Melaka once, it is borring not as expensive as KL or Panang, Panang is a wast of time and money, the worst beach I have ever been to, and it is the beach in front of all the good hotels, dirty, it washes up mud with every wave, has lot of debris from the pasing ships and it stinks, the restaurant there are really expensive, stayed in KL twice, it is expensive. I think your post is just another sour grape one against Thais again because you sure as hell don't know about Malaysia.

  5. TAT pointed out that foreign visitors have either cancelled or delayed their trips to Thailand owing to the enduring image of flooded Don Mueang Airport, the issuance of travel advisory against Thailand by many countries, and rumours of contagious diseases resulting from floods.

Right. The image of Don Mueang flooded is the only reason people are avoiding Thailand. Has nothing to do with the images of flooded Bangkok, Ayutthaya, etc.

Rumors of contagious diseases? Don't think they are rumors.

    These people are unreal.

I have not heard of any out breaks of contagious diseases in Bangkok or anywhere in Thailand, maybe it is just wishful thinking on your part, just another Thai phobia person, ????

  6. Doesn't seem to be affecting Pattaya. I was there recently and the place is packed with Iranian men ,Russian couples and thousands of old single European men sitting at tables looking at Isan girls. :bah:

Business in Pattaya is down 30% on last November, the number of Russian tourist has dropped, my wife has a good small business in big hotel, Manicure Pedicure, it has mainly Russian Tourist, I go there once a week to check on the shop and it is very quite, not the same as last year, the hotel manager tells us the Russian are scared of the floods and think Crocodiles are running around the place, sound stupid but that is what the travel agency in Moscow is telling them. they also tell me most hotels are the same.

  7. As noted above, no licence = no insurance, consider what happens if you kill someone?

Who are you going to kill on a scooter ?

The 125 bikes in Thailand are not Scooters they are Motor Cycles, sold as Motor Cycles and called Motor Cycles by the manufacture, they can do over 100kms per hour, 38 people are killed in Thailand every day by Motor Cycle Accidents, the most deaths of foreigners visiting Thailand on holidays are from Motor Cycle accidents, this is a fact, and in most cases it is the Farangs fault, ride one at your own risk but be prepared to suffer the consequences with no licence, no insurance,, that is if you are still alive,,,

are you sure its less than 14.000 people dead in TH on bikes a year? Last stats I read was over 20.000

anyhow, here in Phuket it used to be one dead every day, 360 a year, its been significantly reduced due to

    DL enforcement

    helmet enforcement

    daytime headlights

2011 seems to stop at 200 causalties, and yes farang are over represented on this stat

You could be correct, I got that number a few years ago, so would have gone up by now, no licence and no insurance, not a good idea.

  9. Look on google images for bike and surfboard and adapt some of those ideas,

the surfers around here do it all the time on a push bike so I am sure you can do it on a Scooter

    BK

    Thanks everyone,

I don't want to carry the golf bag myself, it is a tour bag and don't want to buy a small bag, I am 74 and not a big man so want something that is easy and safe, Fishenough suggestion sounds like it would be OK, just have to find someone to make it, I did see on this Bike forum a bloke had a chrome sidecar he wanted to sell some months ago but can not find his posting, can anyone remember that ?
