  1. Thanks Rick will do.

My advice is to join Pattaya sports club and get the discount card. The first year it's 900 baht and following years 500 Baht. great discounts. They also issue a monthly list showing all the local courses and discounts. It depends how far you want to travel, but I usually play Plutalung Navy course, Greenwood, Treasure hill and Emerald, each of which have a discounted sports day. Google them for more information and book directly and not through an agent etc. The green fees start at 400 baht depending on the day and they are all good courses.

    Cheers, Rick

  2. I have a small business in Pattaya and will move to live there soon, don't really like Pattaya but it is necessary to be near the business, can anyone suggest a reasonably priced golf course in Pattaya or near there, looked on the internet and only found expensive places, thanks.

  3. thailand, will they ever understand ???

make it legal... earn tax and profit on it ... open some casino's ...

is it worse than forced prostitution / phedofiles / drug dealers / gangs ???

That will take a lot of money away from the casinos they own in Cambodia,, or maybe you dont know most of the casinos in Cambodia are owned by Thais ,, this is the main reason gambling is illegal in Thailand,,,,,

  4. Confused as to location of the protesters...

Can I or should I come as planned, today and tomorrow for two nights, from Chonburi, to:

    1. Shop at Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery?

    2. Visit the nightlife venues known as "Nana Plaza" and "Soi Cowboy" and "Thermae"?

    3. Use the BTS and MRT without any fanfare, going to Mo Chit from On Nut and to Chinatown?

Thanks in advance. The news stories never mention Sukhumvit, the BTS or MRT systems.

Answer, 2 out of three ain't bad

#1 is out of the question

Yes 1 is definitely out,, not because of the red shirts but because of the prices

    #2 and #3 are ok

    Comon down

  5. Hooray for the poor! :D

Time to get nasty I dont blame them. If I were Thai I would be in the thick and middle of this. :D

So now you elitists go ahead and bash me :D

My answer to you is simple and to the point ----> :)

Has any protest achieved anything, the yellows got into government by a court decision not by protesting and blocking the airport, all that did was cost a lot of people their jobs, and a lot of them come from the north, the reds have not achieved anything by burning buses, stopping international meetings, blocking the city, throwing blood around the city, this cost people jobs and the poor people are first to lose their jobs not the people with money.

if they put the money and energy they spend protesting into being a strong viable opposition they would achiev a lot more and not hurt the people they are trying to help as they do now, this is the same for both parties.

  6. Any protest of the kind that both the yellow and red shirts do is very bad for all Thailand , and all class of Thai people, and the worse affected are alway the poor people, the way both parties protest is unproductive, harmful and only cause disruption and cost a lot of people that just want to work money, and gives Thailand a very bad image to the rest of the world, for a country that has one of its biggest industries as tourism this kind of conduct is stupid,, stopping the air port from operating, burning busses, shooting people, stopping international forums of countries heads of state and throwing blood all over the place is not a good look for Thailand,, many countries have warnings to their people about Thailand as it is dangerous, this is doing nothing for any Thai people.

You have to wonder about the leaders of the political parties if this nonsense is all they can think of to take over government, they would be much better being a strong vibrant good opposition party, use all the money , energy and resources to becoming the Government and do all the people of Thailand a lot of good. I dont think any of the protest has achieved anything for either parties so far, the red party was put out of power by a court order not the yellow protest, the red people have not achieved anything so far as I can see with their protest.

  7. I have been in Thailand for two years now, I get the age pension it is paid into my Thai bank each month one the 1st , never miss, I applied in Australia before coming to Thailand, I was assessed before they gave me the pension and it took some months before a got the pension, they back paid it to the date I applied, they dont miss a thing , and the amount of things you must prove it a lot, and they want documents to prove, I you may have to be in Australia to apply because it is not easy, you may do it on line but should ask Centerlink,, the office for overseas is in Tasmania the phone number is + 613-6222 3455, I phone them from Thai and they take the charges, I informed Centerlink that I was going to live in Thailand before I left Australia, I had to supply them with an address in Thailand, I was told by Centerlink that all Australian can receive the pension in any country they go to, I have had no 26 day reduction thing and was not told about it or was anything in all the imformation I was given by Centerlink, I get the same as anyone in Australia with the same amount of assets, best to contact Centerlink in Tasmania, their email is [email protected] or their address is GPO Box 273 Hobart 7001 Australia, They are very good and help with every thing,, I have had no problem, they answer email and with in a few days, same with a letter. if you tell them every thing as it is you will get the pension,, if you live with a Thai lady the may only give you half the pension, same if you work in Thai. I have always lived on my own in a room, and tell them that if you know what I mean ?

  8. I wonder how many Farangs would give a genuine smile if they had to serve and put up with the typical Farang that is in Pattaya and Bangkok around Nana and places like that, If it is so bad in Thailand why are you here, I wonder how good it is back in your own country, I find you normaly get back what you give,, maybe it is not them but you, I have been here for a long time now and have no problems apart from the normal rip off you get in any country in the world, it is up to you to look out for that, it happens in your own country just the same, I have travelled to most cites in the north of Thailand , East and West, and lived in many cities for a while and in the main get treated very well and with respect, I alway show respect and get it back in return in most cases, not all the time, but is the same anywhere.

  9. I think a Thai bank would be better, I recently attain a retirement visa and not through any agence, did it myself, I had the correct amount of money in a Thai bank for over three months, Statuary Declaration from the Australia Embassy for prove the amount of pension I receive from Australia, and a letter from Centerlink showing my pension for each month, letter from my bank to prove I had the money in the bank over three months, I had the combination of the two, 36,000 Baht pension and 536,000 Baht in the bank, it is much better to leave my money in my Australia bank as it a lot more interest, Thailand pays nothing, it was well over the 800,000 Baht recuired, I had all the copies of the passport and everything in order, this was in September last year, the officer I was dealing with informed me everything was correct and to come back in ten days to have my passport stamped, I came back to have the passport stamped, the officer when away and put the stamp in the passport, the officer then said they had given me a 90 visa and I should come back again one month before this visa expired, the reason was so they could see that the money I had in the Thai bank was still there when I next applied for the retirement visa in two months time, the next time I had to do all the documents and everything the all over again, this time after the officer checked everything and was satisfied it was all in order he asked me to go down to the lower floor to my Bank, the Kasikoren Bank or as he called it the Farmers Bank, I had to put 500 Baht in my account and get the bank to copy my bank book and bring it back to him, , after all this he then gave me the retirement visa, so this is why a Thai bank would be best. they will want you to prove the money in the bank there and then, I first applied on the 11th of Sep and received the retiement visa on 30th of November, and had to go through it all twice.

Just when and reported for the fist time last Thursday, must report every 90 days back at the same place, this is easy once you do it the first time. hope this helps.

  10. They should do like one of the G8 meetings. Hold the event in some castle/mansion far from the city, some place that is easy to cord off some 1km from the site in question and arrest anyone that tries to go over any fence/barricade.

Or draw a line in the sand and shoot anyone that steps over it, but same-same...

Why they need to put these meetings in a tourist-location...is just beyond me. Or actually, it is not...it's about money.

Easy fixed, just ban anyone wearing red, no problem mate :)

  11. My 12 months non Imm type O visa expired on the 3nd of March, I went out of Thai and returned on the 2nd of March that then gives me another 90 days to get another visa, I have this from the Thai Imm, do I have to go out by air for the 90 days to apply or can I go by land to Loa, I want to get a 60 day visa, to give time for my money to be in a Thai bank for three months so I can apply for a retirement visa.

  12. I had a few places I stayed at on a regular basis over the years but for one reason or another I no longer use.

The first had a piss poor manager who refused to respect any guests or workers. In general she was a B*I*T*C*H who nobody wants to be around. That place had a great location but that's where it ended, everything else was below standard.

The place me and friends stayed at for years was the Sukumvit Crown off Nana BTS. The location is great, the staff OK, breakfast OK, room mediocre, but no big complaints. One of my friends stayed there recently and was shocked by a 1,300 Baht a night room charge which is up from 700, a more reasonable price for what they offer.

What kinds of places are family friendly and available for under a 1,000 Baht? Any ideas are welcome.

Bangkok City Suite Hotel is great, 850 Bath, every thing is good there,

  13. I don't turn 65 for another couple of years but when I do, I was under the impression that I could claim the Australian Aged Pension while continuing to reside in Thailand.

Having paid massive amounts in Australian income tax and every other tax they can think of for my entire working life, I figured I could look forward to living reasonably well on our Aged Pension in Thailand. Problem is, according to one source, I might not be able to claim the pension if I am not living in Australia. Another says it will cut-out after 26 weeks if I am away from Oz.

Tried to get info from the so called "Seniors" Link through the Aust. Gvt. website. No USE!!

Would greatly appreciate ANY and ALL info you can offer.

    Cheers,

    VOICEOVER.

I am an Australia pensioner, have been living in Thailand now almost 12 months on the pension, you must apply for the pension in Aust, it take quite a while to get it they turn you upside down and then some, in oz for single person age pension $539.23 Pharmaceutical allowance $5.80 Rent assistance $71.47 all up $616.50 per fortnight, when you go overseas they take away the add ons like the rent assistance and pharmaceutical, this will be a bit different for each person. there is no problem getting the penson pay to you overseas, my pension is paid into my Thai bank account by Centrelink and this is great saves a lot of money, if you have a OZ bank account & use a ATM it is very expensive, not a good idea. you must keep Centrelink updated with you address in Thailand at all times, I do this every three months by email, I have been told there is no time limit on getting the pension it will stop when I kick the bucket. The Centrelink contact for overseas is Ph 61362223455 or fax 61362222799, email [email protected] they are a special dept for overseas. never BS them and you will have no problems they are really good and help a lot.
