  1. I hope you noticed the good weather in your area.

    Thanks to the wind.

In Lampoon, Phrae, DenChai, Nan not so good.

Please, watch the numbers especially at Lampang.

Not far away from Lampang there is a lignite fired power plant, Mae Moh.

And there is very bad air, all around.

    Almost all of the time.

    Worse than Bangkok.

The last few days I don't think I smelled smoke in the air, very nice.  Of course it's pretty sad when "I don't think I will smell smoke today" because a necessary thought.

anyhow, the second-half January has been very good.  so far

    Instead of an answer.
    Hello, my dear Daughter,

in SE Asia there are many fires.
And where there is fire, there is smoke.
And the smoke is often not healthy at all.

But bad air also comes from the areas around Bangkok
and/or Mae Sot or Mae Mo, but also from our
dear friends in China. - Especially from there.
Od course, depending where the wind comes from.

Also smog travels from India over the Andaman Sea.
Or enters the Kingdom these days from Cambodia. .
Or it is produced by the many stinky cars/bikes that drive around everywhere ...
Or it might come from our place, when we are burning some wood...

    So, mai pen rai?

  3. Sorry, but some should read the OP one more time:

' Thai communities where the 24-hour mean concentration of PM2.5 exceeded the standard for a period of 19 to 68 days in 2018 were: Mahachai subdistrict in Samut Sakhon province, Mae Pah subdistrict in Tak; Song Kanong subdistrict in Samut Prakan; Sripoom and Chang Phuak subdistricts in Chiang Mai; Mae Moh subdistrict in Lampang; Na Phra Land subdistrict in Saraburi; Nai Muang subdistrict in Khon Kaen; Itarapitak in Thon Buri and Din Daeng district in Bangkok. '

    It's a fact. - Is this good?

And mai penrai, if you love Greenppeace or not, we should be happy having them.

This was a great evening when all Three V's (l-r Vichai, Viraj and Vinai) got together, singing 'Sixties' songs in absolute harmony. Just a pity it ended too soon at 10.30 pm. Wine was Baht 700 for a 75 cl bottle - that added even more enjoyment!

River flowing gently in the background, good food, super ambiance. If you didn't manage to go, you missed something special.

    Thanks, jko,

wunderful performance of these Gentlemen and the professional

music Ladies. And indeed, 'Talented, harmonious, and hugely entertaining' ...

    Good link.

Reminds me of a concert in Munich, last year, other groups, much older then

    ( v=rk9Ly5vPCvY )  -  On YT.

All of us are becoming older (some wiser) each day.

But I'm afraid the politicians don't and this might be a very big

plobrem in the future. - Everywhere.

Ha Ha Ha Ha. Now you all know what you put your parents and other older people through when you were a teenager with your blaring rock and roll music from the grammerphone which was in the lounge room and you were in the backyard so you had it full volume so you could hear it and the drunken parties and the loud hot rod cars, Wasn't it great when you were young and cared less about others and now you are old and can't stand the noise.

Mr Russell17au, ok, ok, ok. - But 'No!'

'now you are old and can't stand the noise'. - That's not the point.

Unnecessary, unnatural noise is the main disturbance for all of us.

THESE THINGS ARE THE WORST! I am glad someone brought them up before I did. How many people are actually listening to those blaring monstrosities with eager interest, and then acting upon said advertisement?!?! Those roving truck blaring speaker machines are noise pollution at it's worst! ????

    You're are ok. No question.

But I would love to change places with you if this would stop listening to the village animals

each day, each night. There are roosters, pigeons and doves, dogs, motorbikes.

I hate basses on loudspeakers, but this stupid animal noise seems to be much worse.

I have lived in Chiang Mai for 3 years.  I have lived in Bangkok for 2 years.  I have lived in Pattaya for 3 years.

I have lived in a number of other locations in Thailand over 15 years.

I walk every day and have done so every day I have lived in Thailand.

I have never had a problem with dogs.

    Draw your own conclusions.

'I have never had a problem with dogs.'  You're lucky. Let it be.  -  In my village those problems started with the arrival of one certain dog. I think the owners trained him to attac foreigners.

Back to the OP. I prefer to take along a stick before going outside. I too would suggest a tool

like 'Dog Chaser' Super Ultrasonic MT-651, bought via Lazada. Helps a lot, also in case of endless barking at night. You just need a 9 volt battery. Please be careful, it's not a life insurance.

And for you, marcusarelus, just be happy.

Maybe it's your smiling, your scent our your size that will guard you from bad dogs.

  8. ' the 3 wheeled options ' - some have 2 wheels in front, some two wheels in the back.

Recently I noticed a small shop with electric tri-bikes. Interesting. I'll attach pictures

(Google Maps). Perhaps they might help you.

Btw, Makro had those vehicles some years ago, electric and normal.

(to the pics: you'll  find the shop driving from the south eastern corner of the Moat

about 50m to the east. It's on the right side of the street.)

  9. I think Isan Farang is right. - No idea of your slingshot skills, but pigeons are very agile.
Even if they seem familiar they might fly away too early.
At our place I try to scare them away. Clap hands, sing, turn the radio on, machine noise.

Everything helps. But it must be loud. And surprising.
And if it's too loud for me I use headphones...

(May be your family and your neighbours will think you've gone crazy. Mai pen rai.)
    Good luck.

I used to have a problem with pigeons getting in and living between the ceiling and the roof... now I don't have that problem anymore as there is a python living there... :cowboy:

That's a classical one: Scylla and Charybdis. (Not Cilla Black.)

I hate pigeons, doves, roosters ..., but I never would allow a python in or around my house.

    Please, be very careful.

And to 'PhuketSarah', some posts ago: hope you have already a helping hand to organize this problem.

You could always ask at your local police station. They will help you.

And you shouldn't be afraid. They will not kill this beautiful animal but bring it back to the wild.

    In very small volumes!

By volume, dry air contains only 0.04% CO2. For humans and other living creatures the 21% of O2 is vital for life.

Mai pen rai, dear Skrikcir, I think, we'll survive. - As my chemistry studies happened

more than  50 years ago I almost can't  follow the discussion, but for me it's a bad/big sign

    having difficulties to breathe.

There is nowhere in the world any doubt about the problem of these coal mines/plants.

    Help!

    Coal?

In a country that has 365 average sunshine- days a year?!

    Coal?

So it's not only the stupid- "period costume"- craze...Thailand REALLY is walking backwards...if that is humanly possible!

    Almost nothing to add.

I often wonder why there is such bad air near Lampang and near Mae Sot/Tak.

OK, beside burning fields and trash, China-bad-air, air pollution done by the

other neighbours and so on. - Lampang/Mae Mo, someone being interested might

search on the net. Read - if you want - also about Mae Sot/Tak

And what was it.... 2 years ago I believe, that there was to be an upsurge in solar power production. One of our land plots out in the sticks was earmarked for a 20 rai solar farm. 4verything was above board and paperwork was filled out, submitted, and stamped. Pre-approval was given and a downpayment was paid out. Then....... silence..... nothing but silence. The projects were shelved. No explanation - just shelved. Now??? Going back to coal... WTH????

    Nobody will understand this!?
