I moved here 4 years ago come next month and was getting over 25 baht, according to my calculations that's 1,250,000 baht on $50,000AUD, so that's 250,000 baht out.

In real terms I think you could say the AUD has dropped about 20% in the last 3 years or 250,000 baht on my above figure of 1,250,000 which would give you 1 million baht in today's terms as opposed to that your statement, i.e. 33%

It's not all doom and gloom, i.e. unless your only income is the pension and if that's the case cutting back one's over indulgence would have to cease until things pick up again in a few years, a fair few years I hesitate to say.

If your a stock market investor in the ASX, a small pharmaceutical company I have kept my eye on since a while back returned me a nice earn this morning, although I did sell out a little early, but hey a few thousand (AUD) in the pocket is better than none I say.

Oh that company for those with a couple of extra bucks to put away for a rainy day, is MYX or Mayne Pharma, which has a long way to go....to get back up up up, but your own due diligence if your looking to buy in, happy trading ????

I moved here 10 years ago when it was $1 = 33 THB, luckily i earn mostly THB these days ???? and i get nice bang for buck exchanging it to AUD/NZD for business ventures over there.

  2. My power bill is about 9,000 THB, but I have a home office, so in business hours we're running about 12 computers, all the networking gear like switches, routers, printers, 2x 27k BTU aircons, then in my home portion i have an 83" telly, which is on from about 7pm-10pm, and from 6pm - 9am i'm running an 18k BTU aircon unit. I have 3 refrigerators, washing machine.

Maybe you're getting fitted up with the rate if the power consumption is the same as before.

This topic is beginning to get depressing. Shouldn’t all this have stopped when you finished being a student?

Yea, I can't feel sorry for people like this, especially when they're in their 40s, 50s, 60s etc. What did you do for your whole life? You never saved anything? Never made a smart investment?

  4. I've been with 3BB for a few years now after switching from CAT fibre and it's been great, 500/500 speeds. Had an issue recently where the net was dropping out every other day, they came around the same day and switched the router out for a new one, and have no issues since. Think i'm paying like 1,200 THB/ month, highly recommend it. Also when I signed up it was only like 100mbps, when they plans changed, they upgraded us for free.

Um, I don't think so. The main reason is the beer brewing process gives off a lot of carbon dioxide gas as a waste product. Carbon dioxide is naturally present in the atmosphere in low quantities. Only a few things you can do economically with the excess carbon dioxide: make dry ice, and soda water. (Grow room is also good  ) Soda water is a natural fit. These companies are simply re-purposing and capturing a waste stream.

For Thailand, the main reason is indeed to get around advertising laws.

You will notice any ads you see for Chang or Singah or Leo is for their water products.

  6. I've been drinking the imported S.Pellegrino and Gerolsteiner for the last few months which can be found at Tops/Villa Market even Big C. If you're on a budget, it's not the best option, but as with anything, if want quality you have to pay a premium.

I usually buy about 6x 1.-1.5L bottles a week, so it's not all I drink, I get a few crates of still water from Singah delivered every week or so.

  7. As far as I am aware, for it to hold up in a western court (maybe even Thai one too), she needs to of had her own independent lawyer consultation on the matter.

If not and she just signs it, she could potentially say she didn't know what she signed because she is not a lawyer. It cannot be the same lawyer that you use or may have bias towards you.

  8. Since he's not here, and doesn't want to fly back i'm not sure. But if it was me, I would fly here, write a cheque from the company to cash, cash the cheque at the bank and then exchange the THB to USD at a place like Superrich, probably a few times as anything over 500k I think there is more paper work involved and then take the cash back home with the cash.

  9. My lounge room is about 5m wide by 8m deep and i've just got an 18k BTU Samsung unit and it works well.

But it is well insulated as it has a floor above, below and townhouses on each side. When installing PowerBuy made me sign a document stating that if it's not cool enough I cannot return it as the BTU math didn't work out for them lol.

  10. Little bit tricky for me to say, I've been here 9 years now, when I first moved here, it was tough as I didn't move on retirement funds or pension but savings of a 20yr old... but thankfully the hard work on the business has paid off.

3 years ago I bought my house with my fiance, so we don't have any rental costs, and no mortgage. Business is also run from home so power/net is a bit high.

    12k groceries / month

    25k eating out /month

    8k power / month

    3k internet / month

2k health insurance / month (first year buying)

    3k transport, taxis / month

    10k misc / month

    total: 63k /month

Every 3 months i travel out and have a short holiday 3-5 days generally, that costs 50-100k

Since I am fortunate to earn well over that, i don't really budget, and anything that I want, I usually just purchase it, but mostly investing and saving for retirement as i don't think in 30 years time I will get a pension.
