  1. I also wonder what kind of data people have on their HD's, and why so much?

1TB, 2TB, 3TB,..........I have a 240 something GB HD, plenty of room, use about half, even making programs/

And what is the craze about laptops.

Even people never using it outside the house want a laptop.

As for an external drive, got me a HD in a small format enclosure, USB 2.0, size 11,5 cm x 6,5 cm x 1,4 cm, 500 GB

"Lugging" that around means I put it in my pocket.

Movies, TV Shows, Games, Music - you can download complete TV Series that might be 5gb, and if you want HD movies they might be 5gb a pop.

For me my macbook is great because I travel alot, and I like to be able to work on my sofa or bed every now and then. I would still like a desktop though.

A powerful desktop comes alot cheaper than a powerful laptop, and most of all new technology comes out for desktop first.

  2. I think Microsoft may have already stopped supporting XP after the release of SP3, i'm not a 100% sure though. I never made the move to vista, in fact I've moved to a Macbook. It's great, more expensive than windows based laptops but better performance, great user interface, great keyboard, trackpad, everything is so good about it.

Though I need to run VMWare and boot into XP to do my Bangkok Bank banking, thats the only set back.

I have Open Office (did have MS Office but it was crap), the computer itself has never crashed and nearly owned for 1year.

  3. Something quite interesting for Internet TV is Slingbox, basically if you know someone with cable tv back home, and a good internet connection you purchase this, and you can access the cable tv on your computer, anywhere in the world.

    www.slingmedia.com/go/slingbox

I think the people back in Europe who are referring to Broadband are basically talking about ADSL, so you should consider it the same thing.

  4. If gmail is not a suitable replacement for you, you do not need to use a server provider in Thailand.

Using an email hosting service in America would be no problem, and with the right company you will get much better support and uptime compared to a local service here in Thailand.

  5. I tend to advise people (depending on who) to stay away from HP and similar brands of computers as the specs may look good but the brands and quality of components isnt the best, and you also are paying alot more than what it would actually cost to get one built with higher performance and better components.

For example your ram would only be 800mhz, but you could build a system with better specs for cheaper and have ram that is 1066mhz. If your screen is 23" and you want to play games, that video card isnt the best option.

The only benefit I see in buying a computer from HP or similar brand is that they usually have a good warranty, but HP and other computers in my experience do have the same amount of problems as any other computer.

It all depends on the person though. I'm still deciding wether or not I will sell custom built computers to peoples budgets or not with my business.

  6. I use EVEREST to find what the computers hardware is, and to find out more information.

Trial download can be found here, http://www.lavalys.com/products.php?ps=UE&...g=en&page=1

Then I use these sites to find some drivers.

    http://downloads.cnet.com

    or

    http://softpedia.com

You need to be careful with some of these easy driver downloading programs, your better off just tracking the driver down with these websites, the manufacture website and google. My advice from http://itready.co.th

  7. I've been living in Thailand for almost a year now, and so many things shit me on a daily bases, but I to came to the quick realization that this is not my country, I am a guest here, and I choose to live here. Now I just accept most things, like when the bank tells me I need to talk to the Post office when my password doesn't show up, or when there is something else painfully slow.

  8. My friend called me up one day, he was in an average restaurant that was playing a UFC Fight Night on the TV. I'm pretty sure it was through a cable channel or something.

This wont be on Spike TV, only on PPV. I usually download them the next day and watch from my laptop plugged into my TV. Would be great if there was some where that had this thing live, Not sure what the time difference between Vegas and Bangkok is though.

Barrella Bisping would fight Anderson Silva for the title. I hope he beets Dan though.

  9. Thai's have a very different culture than back in western countries, there are so many stories on the news of people dying because of revenge or because of a failed romance.

There are psychopaths in every country, but does this kind of crime happen more in Thailand than in America/UK? I dont know because I come from NZ.

I went to a free concert in Buriram with about 5 to 10 thousand people and I have never seen so many fights in my life. There were big boxes of all the belts from the people who had been taken away in a paddy wagon. Why couldn't everyone just enjoy the concert.
