  1. 3. I saw advertisement for grey import of SLK200 for just 3.5 million, I think good choice.

This car sells for about 50k USD, and 3.5m is about 100K USD.

Can you please explain what a grey dealer or import is, and whether they pay import taxes and the general legality of such?

my understanding was if the car sells for 50k usd, i should expect to pay 150k usd for it in thailand???

  2. The OP ought to be aware, if he is not already, that nothing would cause more spite and envy than if he actually did move to Thailand and start making a good income here.

Yeah, there is even a lot of warning against such action on these forums. Perhaps, because there is a high rate of failure and they are looking out for people like OP or maybe the thought of someone else even trying makes people upset. Quite a few 'haters' here.

no hate here. but cmon how many come here and open and succeed running a buznit?

I do suppose those who post OP's like "How can I make money in Thailand" are probably too inexperienced to succeed. I was not really referencing this thread. Other threads where people mention a business starting in their family or already in progression seem to attract a lot of comments along the lines of "Oh, well just wait until the rainy season" or '200 baht? For that? Good luck. A fair price would be 120-130 baht", etc.

  4. I made the withdrawal at Bangkok Bank Ekamai. I do not know if I was followed or if the staff was in on it. I was heading to purchase a used car from a private party when I stopped at a noodle stand. The money was placed securely in a duffell bag and placed on the chair next to me at my table. During my second serving I heard what sounded like a woman being attacked and I instinctively ran around the corner of the building to see what was going on. Nobody there, as far I knew, knew about the money being in my bag. There was no woman being attacked, just some young teenagers (perhaps they were in on it). When I get back to my table, this is all a matter of seconds, I catch a glimse of a toddle who cant be more than 3 years old, holding my duffell bag in his arms and riding away on the back of a motorcycle. I chased him half way down the soi and got the license plate number. The police worked a profile and have identified him.

    Have you seen this child?

  5. Probably doesn't help that I spend to much of my free time on the weekends around Siam.

Are you one of those middle aged guys who is really into photography, where in, the focal point of all his photographs usually seem to have a scantily clad teenage Thai girl in front of, to the side of, etc? I caught one of these guys the other day, doing the "Oh, let me get a shot of this BTS staircase... Oh, are those girls wearing miniskirts?"... Maybe there is a reason you get bumped into so often...

  6. but I will say that if Im walking in a busy area and someone stands on the back of my shoe its a farang everytime, I had an arab do it three times a little while back and when he walked past he turned and scowled at me, I impulsively said <deleted> you and he exploded, told me to have some manners, I said I wasnt the one that stood on my shoes three times and couldnt apologize and he stormed off

    Was it Osama Bin Laden?

  7. She again says I must ask thai people for australian passport it is thai job not autralian and it is an offence to be disrespectful to a thai government offical and to go or she would have me arrested and I will go to thai jail. I left and at no time was there raised voices or a heated argument just an expression of a point of view.

You said previously, "As to being rude maybe my attitude if in Thailand at the time would have been considered such but I was on Australian soil."

Little is being misunderstood. You were rude to a Thai woman with a stressful job, and thus were unable to convince her of her mistake. The end result, you wasted your day. In the future, I recommend keeping your temper and apply the Thai way of getting things done! Or, you can keep traveling back to Melbourne for all needed paperwork :)

And I was just joking about the Australian accent thing, but you do have to understand that if you took a survey from other Nationalities, the results would show you that it can be painful to listen to Australians talk. Now, I don't say that to be mean to Australians, its just the way the rest of the world feels. Maybe you don't like heavy metal music, so you can relate to not liking the sound of something. Therefore, if I was a Kangerooman I would be extra calm, extra polite whenever I have to deal with Thais in Thailand.

fuc_k OFF IDIOT I wasn't rude to anyone I spoke to an australian employee who happened to be thai. you weren't there so pull your head in butt out. you are not aussie and have no concept. Fine your self apointed survey from all nationalities shows that australians are the shit of the world ok I agree with you but what the fuc_k has this got to do with the whole thing.

And you say when I attend the Australian embassy I must do things the thai way. Please explain the thai way in Australia. So when I go to the football at ethiad stadium I must chear the thai way. when I drink a VB I must put ice in it. when I say "bewty newk cobber" it must be the thai way. when I ask you to pass the dead horse it must be the thai way. How do I explain to a thai that I am as dry as a dead dingos donga. how do I explain the the OMO packets in the window and my grass has just been cut. Your the expert on australia explain to me

For someone married to a doctor (supposedly) you sure do have lousy grammar and a bad temper. Are you 100% sure she was not wearing a tank top, heals, and skinny jeans that afternoon?

  8. I agree that there seem to be less smiles these days. I think its probably the economy plus political situation that has people less happy go lucky.

The door thing I have not noticed.

  9. What if he was a bodybuilder. Would you still have knocked him out?

Hey your Tony Soprano you should know all this stuff...Just get Paulie & Silvio to handle it :)

Somchai and Somkiat these days. Toss him in the back of a pick up truck and dismember his body later on with a machete and then disintegrate the remains in Lao Khao. Anything left over is sent to Vietnam and sold to a rural noodle shop as a mystery meat.

  10. It is quite strange when you go to somewhere like Ko Phangnan and there are many Farang ladies with Thai boyfriends and that is considered by most backpacers to be cool and not a bad thing.

Well, the older farang gals with the younger Thai males are harder to look at (for me a 24 year old male). The older farang and younger Thai girl couples are more funny, but the old chubby farang gals and their studs give off more of an eeewww feeling and can even cause your body to shake the way the it does when you eat something very sour.

As for the younger Western girls with Thai guys, they tend to be a bit rough. Speaking for the tribe (Western men) I don't think they will be missed.

I am putting a smiley face here now cause I am sure this offended somebody. :):D

  12. Wow what a bunch of tards in this thread. This HAS happened to me and one of my old girlfriends (she's a nurse, wouldn't even know how to dress sexy and yet someone called her a hooker) I demanded an apology to her on the spot (she got it immediately) and was fully prepared to knock him out. How is defending the honour of someone I care about mean I have some sort of issue or problem? Rude scum need to know they cannot bully and abuse people lawlessly. The same thing would happen back home. Tards... the lot of you.

What if he was a bodybuilder. Would you still have knocked him out?
